It's funny that this video came out before Spiderverse. Even then, Sony still isn't a good studio, considering how they still continue to mistreat their animators.

i agree that they’re movies were hit or miss in the past, but it looks like now they are starting to redeem themselves now with movies like spider verse and the mitchells vs the machines, and vivo, as well as with their upcoming adult animated film by genndy tartakovsky calling fixed

Ok that bit at the beginning where Saber said "I use to think DreamWorks, Blue Sky, and Illumination were the worst" that part I really didn't like because I understand that not every animation studio is perfect, but just because they don't have the same quality as Disney and Pixar doesn't make them the worst, I mean if you compare them to how they are now with films like The Wild Robot, Across The Spider-Verse, The Super Mario Bros. Movie and Migration, and after what Disney released last year that being Wish was a massive letdown, I understand this video was made 7 years ago, but still there are times where I kinda disagree with Saber on certain topics.

Nah. He's right about Illumination. At least the other studios made films that are some of the best in their respected industry. Illumination has only made either mid tier films or complete garbage after the first Despicable Me movie. I don't get why so many people love the mario movie. Oh wait, I do. It's just pandering to people's nostalgia. People shit on Space Jam 2 and Ralph Breaks the internet for doing it, but not Mario movie and Spiderman No Way Home? The hell kinda double standards are those?

@@hckingking ok two things, 1. Spider-Man No Way Home and The Super Mario Bros. Movie were actually good, and 2. you see each animation studio has made their mistakes once in a while, but at times they always find ways to get their time to shine to improve on their films, like Disney and Pixar have had their downfall a few times before with The Black Cauldron, Cars 2, Chicken Little, The Good Dinosaur, Wish, and Lightyear, each studio sometimes makes a mistake but they do get a chance to finally improve on their animated features, like Sony Pictures Animation for example, the fact that they went from producing The Emoji Movie to the films their producing now, shows that Sony Pictures Animation is getting back up their feet.

Besides, amazing way to counter my statement about the Mario movie sucking. Say it's good and never elaborate. Same applies to Spiderman No Way Home. It's amazing? How? Oh yeah. Willem Dafoe is back as Green Goblin. Nostalgia Bait. Got it.

@@hckingking I'm just saying studios sometimes make their mistakes, but they sometimes get their time to shine and improve on their movies, and just because you don't like The Super Mario Bros. Movie and Spider-Man No Way Home doesn't mean that everybody is gonna have the same opinion as you, if you don't like them then that's on you, as a fan of animation I know Illumination isn't perfect but sometimes when you look at the films they released last year the animation quality they've improved on really shows, so there's no reason to complain -_-

I feel what makes a bad studio as a whole is not by putting out movies that are sequels or bad, it’s their decisions behind them, whenever stupid or just pandering. There’s been movies where the team put passion and heart in a movie but something just makes it bad for some reason, but that shouldn’t make a studio bad. It’s if the reason they made this movie just because they want to pump out money, that’s terrible. I have seen a trend where if a studio isn’t as good as the another studio, people will compare and call that studio bad. Which I think doesn’t make sense, not every movie will come out good. Example is when after The Last Wish came out, everybody loved dreamworks. And even made fun of Disney and made comparisons. But when that boring mermaid movie came out afterwards, the tables turned. They made comparisons thinking Disney better than dreamworks. Of course, the other thing that makes a studio bad is how they treat their workers.

Actually Gennedy project was Popeye and contrary to popular belief it just happened to been canceled the same time Emoji was given the green light and not picked over Popeye.

At least it's not as bad nor as hated as Illumination Studios. They're the ones that created Despicable Me, The two disappointing Dr.Seuss Lorax and Grinch CGI films, and one of the most annoying characters since The Rabbits: The Minions. And i actually like DreamWorks way more and better than Disney and the same way as i like Pixar. Because they always make fun of Disney and roasts it for all the good reasons.

I mean this video came out in 2017 after the disaster that was the emoji movie and then a year later they released into the spiderverse one of the best animated movies of all time, then they released Mitchell’s vs the machines and across the spiderverse so they had a resurgence afterwards maybe it’s because of lord and miller whatever the reason I’m seeing more effort from Sony animation than I am with Disney, dreamworks or illumination I mean sure dreamworks released puss in boots the last wish and like spiderverse that was a masterpiece and instead of continuing that we got another trolls movie and they completely shit the bed with kung fu panda 4 by casting awkwafina why do they keep casting this SHE’S NOT FUNNY like I was actually looking forward to kung fu panda 4 because of how good the first 3 movies were and then you ruined it by casting the female equivalent to tj miller and claiming that her character should be the replace po as the dragon warrior even though tigress is literally right there 🤦‍♂️ Disneys not much better they’ve made it known that they hate animation even though Walt himself pioneered animated films and for their 100th anniversary they got lazy with wish and honestly see more investment with their live action movies And outside of the Mario movie not a lot of great movies from illumination Sony animation isn’t perfect but they have gotten better from the emoji movie

I like DreamWorks, but that's just not how it works and they should've done something way better with Kung Fu Panda 4 than what the way they've done it. That's not how it works, DreamWorks. And you should've done better.

I kinda Like Kung Fu Panda 4, yes it's not as good as the first 3, but I wouldn't say it's terrible, just because the furious five aren't in it doesn't mean it was a letdown, at least in this film they explained why the furious five weren't in it unlike Toy Story 4 where they just put all the secondary characters in the back of the RV, also again I hate that people are complaining about Awkwafina being casted in movies, in my opinion she's actually a pretty funny actress she can act fine in movies, I enjoyed her performance as Sisu in Raya and The Last Dragon, the Pigeon character in Migration, and Ms Tarantula from The Bad Guys, and I think she did fine as Zhen in the movie, also the Kung Fu Panda trilogy are supposed to focus on Po's arc from being a dragon warrior to becoming a master, that's what I like about these movies is seeing our main character go through their journey, the fight scenes are once again a lot of fun, and the animation is once again beautifully animated, so In my opinion I think DreamWorks seems to be doing just ok, but let's hope they get better with their upcoming movie The Wild Robot when it comes out.
