The thing I love about these retro conventions is it is a way we can travel back in time and actually experience what those eras were like. So neat. This is a great way to honor the history of gaming.
The best part was seeing all the old systems, something you don't see everyday. Second best was seeing the arcade, which bought back many memories of playing on them when I was younger.
I wish I could've seen that cosplay at 15:19 but you sped the video up. Lol and this was as you were saying "I wish you could've seen some of the cosplay here"
Absolutely was great to meet you at this convention Rick! Thanks for talking with my friend and appearing in my video! Was a highlight for me for the whole convention!
The booth with the SEGA prints was Ed Annunziata. The guy who created Ecco the Dolphin, Chkan the Foreverman and some of the Xmen games for the SEGA Genesis. He also did Kolibri for the 32x.
This was an awesome idea for a video Rick! Thanks for sharing this "behind the scenes", even though you are just walking amongst everyone. I personally have never been to a convention like this and seeing your video makes me jealous and want to go to one!
I agree! I live in the Chicagoland area and there just has to be one around here. I'll have to do some searching. If you know of one please let me know!
Say, look at that charming couple popping up in this video!! Ha ha Nice idea for a video Rick; the ins and outs of a convention and talking about what to expect and see--I like that. Also, it was a lot of fun getting to finally meet you and chat. Already cannot wait to see your pickups--hoping a certain deal I spoke to a gentleman there went through. ;-)
@@therealryufromjapan3051 They were pretty good a little below eBay, but they had tons of import stuff. I would say they didn’t have a ton of ps2 but what they had was good quality. I made a couple of trades for some n64 stuff. Then I spent around $160 on some other stuff like GameCube first party titles. My one regret is that I didn’t pick up a completely box Sega 32x for $200. It was in great shape but I thought I could wait to get a better deal. Came back an hour later to it been taken.
Retropalooza sounds awesome, as do most of these retro video game conventions. This year my trips are limited so going to the Houston Arcade Expo, they have some video game vendors then there is a swap meet that Sunday.
New subscriber. First day of building my collection. Was having no luck at any of the big thrift stores so decided to go in a tiny thrift store I've never been in. Bought 20 Xbox and Playstation games for $2 a piece, mainly stuff worth between $10 to $15 a piece. Did like Rick said and chatted up an older guy stocking. Turns out he has a few more boxes of games at his house he is going to bring in for me to buy for $2 a piece! Great advice Rick!
Retro Rick coming with the fire 🔥 content. Thank you again for bringing great footage of this event. Looks amazing. I’m sure there was a lot of gems there. I wish I could have seen more of those NES games. Looking forward to the next video.
@@retrorick that show came out when I was like 8 or 9 years old. I would watch it every time it came on, and my whole family is full of firefighters and first responders so it fits in the family perfectly!!
I've been to Pax East before but I really would like to go to these Retro events. It looks like so much fun and I know I would love this. So much nostalgia and fun to have plus meeting some great people and talkin to them about games and life. Thanks for sharing!
Those are actually hotel CRT tvs. Place I work for had one in every room. They don't weight that much. Notice they have "flat" screens. Cutting edge back in 2006.
Is there any website listing all retroconventions taking place in the US? Asking because I live overseas and have no idea on when there will be any convention
Hey Rick, I stood at a hotel by six flags great America in Illinois back in like 2001. They had a tv with a built in Nintendo 64. It would be cool to find one of them. Anyways, love your channel.
It was great to meet you in person at SEGE. Hope to do so again. Maybe then I will ask ya for a channel intro where you tell people to hit that Friggin subscribe button.
Are there dice vendors at shows like these? I'll be at the Cleveland Classic Gaming convention this year in September - it's my first time vending my handmade dice and it's hard to get a read on what the dice displays might be like!
Hello there good sir!! Great work!!! Keep up the hard work!!! Can't wait to see the next one!!! I just subbed to your channel dude!!! Also do you know of any places in like New Jersey or anywhere close by that sells old Legos by chance? I'd love to know since I collect and play with those kinds!! Also can you tell me where some shops sell some toy soldiers and metal ones too! I'd love to know too since I collect and play with those kinds too!! I hope you can tell me where I can get some cause that would be sick and to get them at great prices as well!!
@@retrorick You are right friend but well I console myself by watching your videos, which are the best, thank you for going back in time with your content, I hope soon to be able to meet you in person, take care of yourself and greetings to your family thanks for letting me be part of your retro community
@@retrorick I wish the same friend, when you want to come to Costa Rica my house is your house and if you want I can take you to some places where you can find some retro video games and maybe give you a tour here thanks for your humility
Super cool! I’d love to be a vendor there! Just gotta find more video games😭. That’s okay tho, I’ve found a couple good ones before. I actually found an Odyssey, not in great shape tho. Love the vids, and the retro-ness!
Was super excited to have scored a pair of red and blue switch joy cons for only $16.99 at Salvation Army. I had to do a double take. Figured I would share my latest success. It really is possible!
@@retrorick whew, thought it had been taken down by the dreaded algorithm, ill look forward to it, just started watching Hairy Tornado a few months back and happy to see a collaboration!
Im from Greenville, SC but now I live in Oconee, SC I wanted to go to SEGE but my husband didn't want to I would have loved to meet you and let you know that here in Seneca,SC we have two amazing video game stores that no one in Greenville yet knows about that I think if you have a chance to come next year you should check out they are Play Nest and Computers Plus
Wait a minute! There’s an arcade in Greenville? I do miss going to them when I was a lot younger! Next year my wife and I might make this convention a weekend event. Have you figured out what that arcade was called?
Btw u, mr.wright way, and Phoenix resell had great chemistry!! I'm super curious if you guys did crossover RU-vid vids because u knew u were going to be on the same panel or if that was just a coincidence. Either way you 3 have great chemistry and compliment each other well :-D
My close friend who I call him my brother named Zack I first met him at the 2d con in Minneapolis Minnesota which is the gaming convention back in February 2019 it was fun got some subscribers to subscribe to my channel my close friends one of them they didn’t have many things to sell personally i am pretty happy to meet Zack he’s an awesome brother/close friend I ever have he even does speedrun stuffs he even got me a super famicom one chip for me even my dad personally traded in the monitor to Zack for the super famicom. With headphones on you can hear a super high pitch sound in the into when you are talking. Its hard to hear but when you turn up the volume you can clearly hear it. Its like a dog whistle esk noise. Maybe its just my aspergers acting up and thats why I hear it so bad but it hurts lol
