My neighbor and his wife took a flight to Antarctica and another flight to the south pole back in the early 2000's. It was a very expensive trip. When they arrived at the south pole that's as far south as anyone can physically travel. Any direction from that point, is north. He said at the south pole there's nothing there but ice and snow. He showed me several photos of the south pole, and what I saw - and I'll never understand why anyone would want to spend that kind of money - is basically nothing. Around Antarctica's shoreline was where all the scenic areas were located.
