Join Ean in his next Fluint experiment and open sessions in July- details on twitter: / fluintart read more about how Ean is still DJing and what his exploration into a blockchain project has felt like:
Hey everyone - just a heads up here that we had a lot of people asking what Ean's been doing recently - so he made us this video as an update from his world. No, DJTT isn't going to start making blockchain / art-oriented content, this was more a "hey let's check in with Ean and see what's new!" We have more DJing-oriented updates for you all soon - follow us on Twitter / FB / Insta to stay on the up-and-up!
You are right that there has not been any content here in a year, and posting a non-dj video after that break was clearly a mistake. The team @ Dj TechTools is in charge of maintaining this channel, and I have been building other things that inspire me. I also hate that there has not been any content released in a year, and plan on making sure that changes! All these angry comments do make me really sad though. I poured my heart and soul into this channel and invested 10k+ hours in making hundreds of videos over 13 years for others. A person simply can't do that forever. I hoped that I had earned the right to share one video about a different project and people would at least give me back a little kindness and consideration. I guess we are all disappointed together. 😕 I hear your appropriate anger about NFTs - yes, many of them are money grabbing dog-shit and I hate those projects too.🤬 That's precisely why I made a community project that is free and brings people together - to inspire people with a positive use case of the underlying technology.
@@eangoldenlive my initial reaction was obvious. But I think it was so harsh because when musicians delve into this realm things go south real quick. It frustrated me to see this on a premier DJing channel and not something on your own personal channel that DJTT could link to. I truthfully know you don't want anything bad for the planet because you're not that kind of guy. Personally, I didn't mean to make you upset, but it's frustrating when a consumer sees a wild change in video topic after this channel going radio silent. I thank you for explaining yourself when you didn't have to and I will give you the benefit of my doubts which I should have from the start.
This breaks my heart. DJ tech tools was a huge part of why I got into making music years ago. I used to watch your videos over and over as a kid, feeling so inspired even though playing music live isn't what I want to do. You guys made the world of electronic music seem so dynamic and beautiful and exciting, and I have you all to thank for inspiring me to go for it and make the music I love. I think visual art could be an exciting direction for djtt. But to see you shift to a technology that ruthlessly strips the environment of it's resources and makes the rich even richer, just to make art that all looks that same, that says nothing, that has no emotional resonance for anyone....... If DJ Tech Tools is done, please let it rest in peace. I hope this doesn't become the legacy of something that has meant so much to so many people.
Hey Noah - I am so glad my videos inspired you! This channel is not changing its focus. DJTT will always remain focused on creating inspiring content that supports DJs. DJTT is certainly not done - this is a video that was meant to share a side passion of mine with the hope that it might inspire someone.
I'm glad you were inspired. But 12 years ago he was a big time narcissistic kinda dude. I ran the door for one of the parties at dj tech tools. Dude is hella strange
WORD! sadly enough, the idea of NFTs is great, but big corpos (Ubisoft...), Bros and Scammers absolut wrecked it to the don't touch at all level... that's why we can't have nice things...
This seems a lot like someone who is getting into art for totally the wrong reasons. Forget money, make some art that captures how you feel or think, and can communicate that to others in a relatable way. (and how you feel probably shouldn't be "I'd like to make some money")
You must realize this scene has been pitched ad nauseam to most artists. I don't find it hard to believe Ean truly sees this as a cool art project to get people creating and playing together. He's never done anything to indicate the contrary.
@@eangoldenlive Well, fair enough, but then you talked about monetisation and it seemed like those features were an important part of it. I think you can see now how unpopular NFTs are. So many NFTs sales are in essence scams that no honest use of them is going to be able to avoid the taint.
@@Kaitain Yes - so many NTS are scams. it's really, really disgusting and sad. Because of a lot of greedy people some really interesting technology has a terrible reputation that taints everything. There is a small group of people (that's growing) who are producing incredible art that is not a financial grab. I wish more people saw those projects instead of the dumpster fires.
@@barjio This project is free to use - and not a money grab. It's purpose is use decentralised technology to bring together people to collaborate and work together in harmony - not compete with each other for financial gain. That is the art. I spent 7 months of my life and a lot of money to give people a free experience that would help bring calmness, connection and art into the lives of people who are on the computer all the time.
@ean golden Thank you for making this art tool. The decentralised, open and free nature of this technology and art combination could produce interesting results over time. Spontaneous order come to mind when I think about this project.
Ean just so you know your a living legend to me and you always will be. Watching your videos in my early days of djing gave me powerfull tools to manipulate music that would not even be fully realized for many many years. Iv gone on to create so many custom mappings that were birthed from ideas largely borrowed and remixed from you and born into maps mappings that are connected to my intuition. when i dj its like a part of my soul is fused to and born from that midi technology. Some of the best moments of my life i relate to this. I will never ever forget it. I took a very long break from djing when it started to become that JOB fealing....the joy is back for me and the main reason i think is because i know only dj for self fulfillment to express myself artisticly with no compramise. The people who are atracted to this innate sound i beleive are the people my frequancy has the highest chance of resonating with. Your my people wether you know it or not. Thanks again.
Not sure how this would scale if it got popular enough. The paint and device only looks costly. I’d be more interested in seeing a site for music collaboration or creation. Spotify on the blockchain. All royalties to the artists cut out the corporation and distribution companies.
For everyone complaining.... the man got burnt out on the scene, it happens to everyone and it will happen to you. It's not easy being a part of the most toxic industry in the world (some of these comments are a perfect example).
Don’t listen to the haters. Keep moving forward. Now do something with NFT’s and DJing. Great way for DJ’s to monetize their sets/recordings, while also ensuring the original artist and labels get a cut too.
You have such a baby Ross vibe. I literally started djing years ago and recently tried making some tutorial videos. You’ve inspired me more than I admit. Thank you so much for all the videos and fun stuff. You helped me step out of my com❤️fort zone.
Yeesh, this is a disappointing return. Follow your bliss, I suppose. To answer your call out near the end of the video: Let’s keep this channel DJ focused.
Yeah why jump on the NFT train as it's headed off a cliff? The tech is inherently flawed. They can't even hold much more than a bit of text (which brings up the question of false advertising as nowhere in this video is it made clear you're buying a link to the artwork and not the artwork itself) and the networks still struggle to manage everything even without a huge userbase. Plus, an NFT doesn't do anything we can't already achieve with other systems. Artists have had contracts controlling the terms of secondary sales of their art for centuries.
Nice stuff bro but we deeply miss your Traktor enlightened knowldege! Especially newbies like me that are starting right now and that are a bit lost... Please come back!!! Anyway, great idea your collaborative NFT art project!!!
I want to be clear (apparently it was not in the video) that this channel will remain dedicated to Dj technology. Dj TechTools will always remain as a community recourse with a mission to help and inspire other Djs. This video was intended to share a completely separate project I am working on, with the hope that it might also inspire someone.

I understand Ean. He got on to the NFT/Blockchain train which as at this moment leads to nowhere really, so this project is more or less a failed experiment, but I am sure he learned a lot from it. We all more or less dipped our toes into the crypto world as DJs because it's in our spirit to explore new technological/artistic mediums that have long-term potential. He probably had a few extra mushrooms along the way but I am sure he will find his old-self again at some point ;-p (I mean that Santa Barbara video of ppl dancing in the park is a bit creepy - lol)
Good to see you again Ean! Also happy to see you're doing well and keep doing new stuff! Don't let yourself weigh down by the negative comments. I get that lots of people wanna see new music and DJ stuff here, but you shouldn't be the traget for this. Keep on doing what you do and I'm happy for new content on this channel!
Thanks, Ean. It is good to see you are following your artistic desires. It is fantastic you are still thinking about how you can share your ingenuity with the world.
Ean, we support you bro. Start another channel or your own discord. Lets keep this channel to DJing, because anything else is ruining this brand. Unless however you want to somehow rebrand to art tech tools, which can be a new path altogether. Good luck brother.
The blockchain claims another victim. Thanks for all the inspiration and the learning over the years. I wish you well with your current projects but, well, it's crypto. You're either scamming or being scammed and neither of those options is good.
Wonder how many unsubs this video garnered. Respectfully, start a channel for this kind of content. People subscribed to DJTT for a reason and this probably isn’t it. Felt really strange.
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand, its gone! (DTT, Eans reputaion, another community torn appart in the name of NEW TECH, INNOVATION, EMPTY PROMISES, AND wait for it: LIFETIME GAIN!) money money money, its NOT FUNNY ANYMORE!!! You Go (down) Girl!
Ean, you were already a genius, in my opinion, for birthing the Midi Fighters and all sorts of mappings. Thank you, btw. 🤙🏽😎 So of course, it was only a matter of time 'til your spirit of innovation struck again. So cool! 👊🏽😏
Lots of negative comments but I thought this was cool and people saying you shouldn't post this because it's not related to DJing need to remember whose channel this is haha
Very good project Ean, we are at the beginning of a new technological era and many people will understand it only in a couple of years, keep going with your creative spirit!
No Fucking Thanks You literally could've just sold the prints and it would've been a cool io-like internet project that you could get some neat prints from, but you had to attach a smart contract to it...C'mon Ean, be better than this...
