I m from Brazil and I went to Chisinau a couple of times. It's a beautiful city with nice people. I intend to go back again soon. Stefan Cel Mare street is very busy and noisy with so many ambulances with siren out loud passing by. I will take my ear plug next time.

A small historical correction there: Moldova didn’t become part of the Soviet Union until 1944. In the interwar period it was an integral part of Romania, albeit without Transnistria. Bonus: Odessa is not in Bessarabia, it‘s just very close to it. Nice video, though. Keep it up!

Just come back from Moldova in April 2024 ,and yes, in the rural areas,English is still rare, but in urban areas and the young, quite common . You should have visited the self -governing Region Gagauzia, where their language is Turkic and Russian spoken widely( and friendly after drinking local wine)watching further your take on the place, you are very much spot-on about the realities of the place and what happens when a society/empire/nation/USSR collapses ..your comments are spot on about Poland, though they had a massive head start as an independent state and even established stockmarket in the `80s,also homogeneous population. (remember the times well). The only thing i will disagree with you on,Soviet-style architecture, love it! ( but that`s personal taste)

don't use spasiba, is actually "Multumesc!". Rep.Moldova is itself a region with unify and been part of Romania, they weren't ever occupy by romanians ( U.R.S.S took it after ww2, when they push romania to be on the loss side despite different things happen - Romania didn't deserve to loss Bessarabia). I could share some light if you want over it, the history of today and access to informations could really proof that Romania didn't join with pleasure axis forces, or gave 3 regions of it's country towards Hungary-U.R.S.S-Bulgaria. Otoman empire been defeated in the end, they didn't leave a good impression towards countries which they occupy. Romania were independent after ww2, they hardly recover after ww2 destructions, fees they had to pay towards U.R.S.S , we also payed in 12 years like 23 billion $ between 1978-1989( time in which $ increase in power and sink Romanian debt- but we manage to pay it as Ceausescu force people to buy food on rations(not even in ww1-ww2 that wouldn't happen), there were consumtion of electricity limits, etc... ). Romania keep build itself alone while taking money and paying everything they had as external debt. Bessarabia was up to get back to Romania after 1990, but the man behind Ceausescu which took the democracy and become president were blocking this(probably connections with soviets). Bessarabia were part of Romania and keeps to be, no mather what others would push to say to block this. Search Romania prior ww2 and you will understand, Romania was some country which push peace and disband army divisions after ww1 to assure them intentions of peace.

Don't worry Romania/Europe will rebuild what's there one point in time. Romania develop itself a lot right now and most cities change them center beauty( more and more look amazing), and everything there will be part of a big country which share same nationality and strong economical powers. We keep to push changes and seems like Moldovia does the same, we will one day be proud of our nationality and what we build.

People in Moldova speak Russian and romanian, some don't know romanian at all! So he can definitely use russian if he knows it. Moldova and Romania are now 2 independent countries, yes they were one once but not anymore. For example in Moldova people speak a lot of romanian and add a few Russian words there and then which is normal, it has been only independent for about 30 + years and mostly old people live there which were forced to learn and speak Russian. Romania is more developed compared to Moldova and part of the EU. So no, they shouldn't be compared or thought as something similar or identical. The past doesn't matter anymore cause now they are both different.

@@loraasd9010 main country is Moldova, official country language is not russian, there are more romanians than russian there. I am not having something against russians, but would they like to be give grateful notes in ukrainian and romanian in them own country?? I am speaking romanian too, and i say rarely kozonom which means thank you, in hungarian. I respect the country i live, even if i have magyar roots in ancesters, even my family name has magyar origins, but is transform to sound more romania. I know just like 10 words in hungarian, and live at the border with hungary. I don't think is a form of disrespect to don't speak a minority language, but i definetly feel myself 100% romanian and never ever considered myself to mark myself as hungarian. I feel like is a form of respect for a country if you travel to speak the language of it, cause would not make any sense to go spain and say "merci" , like Mr.Bean in the comedy movie.

I am a frequent traveler. British citizen. Travelled to 36 countries, Moldova was number 37. I flew here on 21/9/2023, it's a Visa free country for British citizens, but I was DENIED ENTRY and held in detention because I am Muslim. The British embassy was able to send me back home. I was really looking forward to exploring this country, REALLY LOOKING FORWARD!!! The flight was very expensive because all budget airlines has stopped flying there but I was still determined to go! The border police discriminated against me and denied me this opportunity! Just because of my religion!!! There is no justice!
