To me I don't care when it gets released as I may not pick it up right away since my original Switch is still in fair shape but just simply want upgraded graphics and backwards compatibility. I just want it to be shown already so I can see what to expect and compare it to the original.
nintendo would roll out an update to slowdown/break the v2 switch and oled so you would buy the new one. they shouldve released the new switch instead of oled. they love to milk their fans for the same hardware with 64gb rom and oled screen😂😂😂
I agree! Just upgraded to the oled and I love it! When the new system comes out not everyone is going to be getting it on release day and ppl will have to wait! Im fine waiting with my oled and I am very excited to get the new console eventually.
The only things I care about for a Switch 2 is backwards compatibility with my existing Switch Library, and the same swtich store, and the ability to improve the performance of my existing games. Otherwise I'm sticking with my original switch, and finishing up my purchases before the store goes offline.
Given how much graphical quality Nintendo’s been able to squeeze out of the base switch, I can’t wait to see what they can do with a less underpowered console
I doubt switch 2 is coming holiday 2024 or spring 2025 because they are just not ready for it yet. Look at the lineup known as of Sept 2023: Mario Wonder, Peach Showtime, Mario RPG and even Mario vs DK remake, these are games that take more time & cost than traditional remasters which I’d expect in a console’s last year(look at DS, 3DS, Wii and Wii U). Besides, they can totally launch a odyssey DLC at spring 2024 after the BCP end, giving 3D mario and zelda content at 2023 & 2024. I think a new console breed new possibilities but they are just not there. I’ve been saying the switch 2 coming late 2023 because of the lineup being smaller IPs and no games beyond tears of the kingdom and Pikmin 4 but this lineup is just less likely.
@@QnjtGWonQNqVsbYyzjx4 Based off previous history it's pretty unlikely that they won't release a new console somewhat soon as they have already passed the point that they would normally release a new console - also considering the drop in sales each year and them saying they wont consider releasing a new one till the end of this financial year I think its a fairly good bet that we will see one next year or at the very worst very early 2025
@@lucaks982 Okay, we’ve already past the 5-6 year mark, usually they’d release the new console in early 2022-early 2024. Besides, there is still a lot of big IP content left on switch that they can release(full remakes of older games such as oracle of seasons, super mario land 2 or a link to the past, dlcs for mario wonder, tears of the kingdom and mario odyssey, new games such as donkey Kong, Yoshi, mario party 12 and 2D zelda) I think a new upgrade can be coming though, there’s just not much system seller left now they release 2D Mario and 3D zelda. Who knows when they are dropping 3D mario content out.
I just want them to reintroduce a streetpass type thing to whatever comes next. The integration of streetpass into various 3DS games was so charming and encouraged me to take my 3ds out with me. The only time I take my switch with me is if I'm travelling or going somewhere I'll be waiting for a long period.
Just think about it... Wii came out in 2006, 6 years later the Wii U came out DS came out in 2005, 6 years later the 3DS came out Even the 3DS came out 2011, 6 years later the Switch came out So obviously we are overdue for a new console since its been over 6 years
The "Wii U Dilemma" isn't really a dilemma as much as you'd think. The Wii had become a console seen as EXCLUSIVE for the casual audience, it turned into the bets selling console of the generation but did not sell software in the same ration as the competitors, and despite all of its complaints Nintendo decided to double down instead of addressing the issues. That's why the Wii to Wii U transition failed, because it was done out of ignorance. A Switch successor carrying over the Switch name, on the other hand, would be much more welcome and easily more understandable than the Wii U was after the Wii. Nintendo nailed the marketing with the Switch, it does sell a lot more software per unit sold than the Wii ever did, and a simple naming scheme like Super Switch or Switch 2 would avoid confusion by the general public, not to mention the target audience is hardcore gamers now, as opposed to what it was back in 2006 and 2012. So, it may look like a "Wii U Dilemma" on the surface, but isn't really the case because the entire scenario surrounding the company has changed.
Would you see a Super Mario Galaxy 2 remaster/remake released on the Switch Next year,it would make the difference in outselling the Wii in total sold units
I feel like the issue with switch 2 is gonna be more with accessibility and price point. Odds are if its gonna run with a better processor, its gonna cost more, and the battery is gonna die quicker. The size and form factor needed to cool it also mean this thing would be bulky and difficult to hold. With the increase in competition for hybrid consoles, It might honestly be better to just make a new handheld with increased power over the 3ds and more accessibility over both the switch and 3ds.
@@TimmyDaTurtle I agree that the major issues will be accessibility and power, but making something stronger than the 3DS will just drive their audience away. The Switch is such a wonderful console because it's both handheld and home console in one, but that includes its power that allow third party games to be ported over without major sacrifices. If you were to walk back on the power the Switch has, it would just erase all the good will Nintendo has garnered with the Switch and make the console a Nintendo exclusive product, much like the Wii U. I mean, would you want to put a more powerful 3DS on your 4K TV when Sony and Microsoft offer 4k games at 120fps? Not to mention it wouldn't even be able to play Switch games, so you would lose all the previous generation library as well. NVidia has the DLSS technology that serves to render images at higher resolutions with less resources, so that solves the problem of power and battery drain. Pascal was already dated back in 2017 when Nintendo released the Switch, but now we have much more efficient chipsets. Nvidia is rumored to be putting out a custom chipset for Nintendo (Pascal was not custom), so there should be a pretty nice balance between power and battery consumption while in handheld mode.
My idea would have been, that they upgrade the dock to form a powerfull console. The OLED is a pretty strong handeld update. There is a third party device that powers up your Switch by a huge margin, so Nintendo deffinetly could pull of something similar. Maybe this is was just an weird idea tho.
It's a good idea, bit unfortunately the memory bandwidth of the Switch is too limited for a dock upgrade. They would need to make an entirely new console.
I hope there isn’t a gimmick. Everyone saying it’s gonna be a Switch 2 DS and I’m just over here wanting something fun and graphically better. We don’t need 2 screens 😭
Remember when people were saying that the "switch 2" would be called the "Nintendo Switch Wonder", and it would release with mario wonder and be able to play that game in 4k
I feel like the Switch is more similar to the DS and Gameboy than the Wii/Wii U honestly. Many people thought the Wii U was some sort of add-on tablet, but it's very expected for handhelds to get consistent upgrades while still having backwards compatibility. I fully expect that to be the case too 'cause the Switch doesn't have any major gimmicks its had to drop or change majorly like the Wii did, and it has a fairly typical control scheme. Design-wise, I honestly think it'll be fairly similar, but I'd love to see a more ergonomic approach from Nintendo for once that would make it a bit more appealing to some of their older audience. Those joycons cramp my hands so bad! Smaller bezels would be great too.
350 would mean they're cheaping out on stuff IMO. It just doesn't seem feasible. 400 feels right to me. I also don't think they're going to keep making the OLED. It's a premium base switch and they'll say "if you want a premium switch buy switch 2". Either Nintendo keep red box and lite or pick between one of the two IMO
@@mattia1026 while I would like that too it won’t happen. They can’t go over 400-450 imo and it isn’t worth it to make a premium version just yet. I think they will make it 400 then as the years go on it will be cheaper to manufacture, then they make the premium console and drop the regular in price just a bit.
I don't know, I think they might remove the older Switch and keep the OLED. It's basically Nintendo's equivalent to a slim version but not slim, in other words, a console refresh.
I mean, it's really the same console with an OLED screen, a better kickstand and a new dock with ethernet port, and those little upgrades aren't really that big for the price, so I imagine they could discontinue the old Switch and drop the price of the OLED to 300$, since for so little it really adds, production costs on this device must be very similar to OG Switch.
One concern I have is digital games. If I can't transfer them that's a bit of a ehh for me. I try to buy physical but sometimes it isn't easy finding some games.
I'm really interested to see how a Switch 2 will differ compared to the Wii U. Both will be follow ups to a successful console, here's to hoping the success carries over (and gets a 3D Mario game soon please God)
the wii u did so poorly in part due to bad marketing and that’s not gonna be an issue with Switch 2 if they actively decide to either change the name or call it a sequel to the og
If this new console doesn't let you download more than 4 games from the eShop without putting in an SD card I'm not even considering it. It needs to have 120Hz 1080p OLED. 1080p for obvious reasons but if the game is running at 120fps but the display is only 60Hz, who will be able to tell if it is 120fps or not? At least 128GB storage but preferably 256GB, and at least 8GB RAM. And something that is at least on par with the Steam Deck if not the ROG Ally. And also, faster charging, better battery life, microphones (let me know if the original has it but I'm not totally sure) and a camera would be nice addons but not strictly necessary.
This might sound a little silly, but I think one of the reasons that the Wii U was perceived as a Wii accessory, instead of its own product, is because of its name and color, obviously using the name Wii was a mistake but I would say using the white coloring was also a mistake because it was so closely related to the Wii, so I think the biggest mistake Nintendo could make is to call the console anything with the word “switch” in it, and also using red and blue as the base model color, if they do, it will be Wii U all over again and the casual buyer will ignore it as another “O-Led” or “Lite”
Because earlier this year the 3DS & Wii U eshop got shut down,& almost every single Mainline 3D Mario titles are available/released on the Switch as Remake/Remaster there’s a high chance that we see Super Mario Galaxy 2 & also due to the physical discs unit nowadays are hard to get/limited & expensive,so why Wouldn’t Nintendo Do that!?
If it’s not this gen then next next gen, I expect a Nintendo console that will have an inbuilt “Universe” Type meta game. Select any Nintendo character, run around a bit and enter Smash, Kart, Sports or Party. The Smash concept of “Everyone is here” but applied to all their big games
When the switch oled came out, I thought the original Switch would go on sale, but the price didn't go down very much, and I didn't get it. I still don't have a switch at all. If this new Switch would potentially be coming sometime in 2024, do you think that means maybe the Switch OLED would go on sale for black friday or boxing day in 2023?
nope. Nintendo is tight on sales. There's only bundle packs you get a oled switch with a game and joycon controllers for $300-350 i'm buying one today.
The switch is a perfect design, I wish it were a more powerful console but the hybrid portable with removable controllers is genius. I think they would be stupid to change form factor, add a gimmick and dial up the power and they have a winner.
even if they do release a new console i dont think they would stop releasing games on the nintendo switch since there is so many nintendo switch owners
The 1st switch had a great launch, Splatoon 2, Breath of the Wild, Mario Kart 8, Mario Odyssey, And those games all sold more than 2mil in less than a week from their respective launches. Even though Mario Kart 8 just got Wave 6, Mario Kart 9 would sell more than the Booster Course Pass ever could. Take a look at Mario Kart 8's sales. Those little numbers says a lot for what a sequel could do. (We've also been playing Mario Kart 8 for a decade. Give it up Nintendo.)
I really hope they put more effort into putting in higher-quality joysticks. When it comes to a boost in graphics, I think 12gb of high-speed v-ram would go a long way.
It deserves a more powerful hardware up to 1080p in handheld mode and 1080/4k on the tv. This would mean that it'll handle higher quality games and they'll receive way more money. Of course it has to be backwards compatible. The switch as a whole feels quite empty.
will switch games be backwards compatible w switch 2? bc i dont know if im gonna get the new mario games if they cant be played on the new console coming out in like 4 months
I want more functionality for the joycons. It's absolutely Criminal that no one has thought to release a twin stick mod to plug the joycons into so we can play games like virtual on/mech games or even a flight stick mod so we can play games like flight Sims or space Sims. Nintendo!! Show off such accessories!!!' it should be simple to make, without electronic components. Heck someone should make it as a mod project to showcase the feasibility on the PC
It's amazing how PlayStation, Sega, Atari, Apple and every other company in the world stand back and let Nintendo take a complete monopoly on handheld gaming. While at the same time, the gaming community is so desperate for handheld gaming they're all modding their old GameBoys. Let the hackers get rich, I guess. Shame we'll never see a Vita 2.
I hope a new switch can embrace a cellular data plan, streaming services, sturdier joycons and higher quality online. Microsoft has always had a great online service and it would be great for Nintendo to make an investment in it. There is a lot of room for improvement without having to reinvent the entire console.
Nintendo will not yet implement 4K for 2 reasons, price and hardware. Nintendo isn't aiming for AAA compatibility, they aim for accessibility and nostalgia to their target audience. At most they'll bump up to 2K with 60fps, and with 2K being the new "baseline" for games these days that's probably the mark Nintendo will aim for their next-Gen console. Also, Nintendo usually releases their next-Gen console along with the next Mario and Pokemon game. Not surprising that they're still milking those franchises.
Don't hold your breath on it. Y'all nintedo fans did the same thing last time saying "The new switch is going to have more fps, new graphics card, a powerful processor that will be as strong or even surpass PS5 and XBOX series X/S", and in the end, all we got was a wider and brighter screen🤡.
I'd be happy with 4k on the TV or even 1440p on the TV if it meant more FPS. On the switch I want whatever will give me closer to 120 fps. if that's 1080p HD, then I'm fine with that. Definitely need 128-256gb hard drive, a slimmer dock, better battery life, and the old joycons working with the new switch. They could make the screen slightly bigger but honestly I'm even okay with the 7" OLED. If they can keep the switch down in size and squeeze an 8" screen though that would be cool too.
i've been wanting to get a switch for a while, i was thinking about of buying an oled for christmas, should i just wait and get the new console? EDIT: found out that my GF bought me one for christmas LMAO, boys Fuck the switch 2, we’ll have fun on this one
As someone who only got a switch lite I'm long overdue an upgrade😂 hopefully it comes out sooner than later and it actually has competent tech to its rivals.
I would like to see axelay, a new 2d castlevania, a second installment to the Mario RPG, another crono-trigger/ chrono cross game, and a decent Gun controller design for shooting games like Doom and Wolfenstein.
Always get a Nintendo console on its 3rd or 4th year. You get all the discounts and there’s plenty of games on it. Also there may be a better version of the console out by then.
I bought a switch when it first came out and it wasn't long until they released a better version (improved battery) and then later also the OLED screens. When I tried to sell the first gen switch nobody wanted it because of its battery (which I actually never had an issue with). Good call to wait again.
I think the switch 2 at least needs 60 fps and 4k docked but 1080p in handheld, they should make the dock have extra power so when you play docked you get more power.
Honestly even when a new console is released I'll probably just stick with my modded Switch 1. It just gives me so much freedom that I think it would only be worth buying something new once its library has expanded a fair amount.
my theory for the switch 2 is an upgraded switch but the dock improves the graphics and framerates of the console like an attachment which improves the game
this is what ive wanted for years. i dont get why they cant do this when egpus exist for laptops. i was kinda disappointed the Steam Deck dock didnt do this.
I never owned or played a switch since its been released and always wanted one. Now that im older i can buy one myself but now im just going to wait for upgraded one. Ive seen alot of reviews saying its showing its age since its been released 7 years ago. Hopefully Nintendo switch 2 comes soon 😅
Considering TOTK, I am guessing the next gen switch will literally just be called 'switch 4k' and will be able to play and enhance old switch games. BUT they will release 'switch 4k' games that can't be played on switch, and will re-release a tonne of switch games as 'switch 4k' games. cause money
Maybe they should make 2 models to make everyone happy, Switch 2: $350,- 1080p 60hz ips-lcd 7" display, 4k 60hz/2k 120hz/1080p 240hz (HDMI 2.0) on the dock, 128gb + Micro SD (and that PS4 performance) Switch 2 Pro: $500,- 1080p 120hz OLED 7" display, 8k 120hz/4k 120hz/2k 240hz/1080p240hz (HDMI 2.1) on the dock, 256gb + Micro SD (PS5 equivalent or just better than the 2)
Checking other videos from other creators I’ve heard lots of times that the switch 2 is going to be like a ps4 but handheld with better quality better storage and probably a bigger range of games like COD or assassins creed etc etc. Aswell as an upgrade in the graphics card of some results of 0.4 in normal and .5 in overall easier games to a 1.4 and 1.5 quality increase more or so 4x more
The performance needs to improve so we can get devs to bring games like GTA6, COD and the like over. It’s annoying to spend money on a console this interesting only to see the games I want to play go to Xbox and PlayStation. And I’m not talking about exclusives.
The whole reason I'm not buying a Switch yet, I'm waiting for the next version. Never owned a Switch but if I am going to get a Nintendo console/gameboy it'll have to be the next iteration. (hopefully backwards compatible)
I guarantee you we wont get another switch like console. We will likely get a switch upgrade thats a bit better than the current switch, but i think they are gonna go back to home consoles and keep the switch as a 3ds line of handheld systems and continue supporting both
It’s probably going to release alongside atleast one new game, like Mario kart 9 or some other game. If I you think about the original system, super Mario odyssey is still a big staple of switch games.
Even apples latest a17 3nm chip cannot play resident evil at 30 fps above 1080p. What makes people think the Nintendo switch two will support 4K? We are not there yet with technology on portable machines to render full 4K with proper battery life. Unless you want the battery to last 4 minutes on the go.
I don't know why all people ask for a new Nintendo console while we have already new games keep coming to Nintendo switch if u want handheld console powerful as ps5 just forget it that's impossible for now and Evan if they do the console will get too hot and the batteries will die in 30 minutes or one hour max and sad story they will stop making games for the switch and the new console will have only few games for a year
Yas my guess is proven The Switch performance is akin to betwee PS2/PS3 so it makes sense the successor of Switch performance will have performance akin to PS4/Xbox1 but I highly doubt it maybe the performance of this new Nintendo console will be more to between PS3/PS4
I think if the next console doesnt have backwards compatibility it will definitely fail. With how expensive everything is (in the us) nobody is going to want to have to buy a whole new set of games on top of the price of the console. The switch has a massive game library and if we can just buy the console and play what we already own people are gonna be a lot more inclined to spend the money on a new console (especially all of us that still use our launch switch lol) and probably lead people to buying a new launch game or two. Also home screen themes are honestly a deal breaker for me at this point its so bland
i just bought a switch oled and i think ive played it more in 2days since getting it, than i did with my launch switch that ive had since launch day lmao
