Yes me too. The other day I looked at myself when I was outside working and had to chuckle. Nothing glamorous about the way I look when I’m digging now the dirt. I make big messes but love it. Nice to see real people. The other seems so staged that it makes us feel less than. I have tried and deleted many channels but love Homestead Heart! 👩‍🌾❤️🍅

I've had a garden for 8 years. I'm 72 years old and live in Arizona . I spend 300 yrly on soils, and fertilizer.I give most of my 3 neighbors alot of food. Funny only one return the favor with fruit. I've tryed to start a community garden but to no avail. Things are only getting tougher. No one seems to care. I've decided to put a price on my hard work instead of being taken advantage of. I love to share but no more! Preace and prayers for all. God bless.

you can use thermal mass as well such as several barrels of water . it has a high specific heat value so it is able to retain the heat it absorbs during the day and lets it off at night.

We are suppose to get 5" of snow tonight in Ohio. Next 3 nights below freezing! Crazy crazy weather! I'm glad you were able to buy some plants to replace what you lost. I started my sunflowers in the house under grow lights and boy have they taken off! They are about 8" tall already and I'm going to have to replant them in peat pots because I can't plant in the ground for another month yet! I won't start them as early next year. This was just a experiment this year!

Mis H. My dad had a green house whin I was a kid. He got an old electric space heater from a garage sale, and pluged it up every night when he knew it was going to freeze. And he would plug in an old box fan to circulate the heat around the greenhouse. It would keep his Greenhouse above freezing.

I have 2 similar green houses, and you are right about the little heaters. I use mine throughout the Fall and even last night and I didn't lose anything, but another thing that helps are plant lights and plant heating pads. I grew three Mortgage Lifter Tomatoes throughout the Winter and they are still living! I could not believe that happened, but I'm so thankful. I think you're smart to go and buy starts. I live along the Gulf Coast of AL and we never get this cold. Better to buy starts than to have no plants at all. Thanks for showing us your greenhouse.
@deborahpinkey1264

I thought you had a generator. You could hook up a small electric heater to a generator and keep the greenhouse temp. warm enough overnight to save your seedlings. You'd only have to do it a few nights here and there. It may not save this year's seedlings, but it's an idea for the future. I hadn't finished watching your video before leaving this comment. Then at the 26 minute mark or thereabouts, you mentioned getting a little heater in the future.

You might want to think about putting in some staging / shelving to raise the smaller seedlings off from the ground. Usually the temperatures go a bit higher towards the top part of a greenhouse/ tunnel and the coldest part is on the floor. If you place thermometers at different levels and areas of the space you can use it as a guide to where your hotter parts are. Also bubble wrap makes for a good temporary insulator maybe you could tack some using cable ties on the inside of the walls - still lets the light in but adds a layer of warmth.
