What's Happened To Premium Economy on British Airways? not Impressed! 

Why do most flight reviewers on RU-vid expect the flight attendant to remove the foil from their main dinner plate? Personally, I would rather remove it myself to keep it warm until I am ready to eat it. I think people confuse the role of the flight attendant with that of a butler! Maybe in first and/or business class the expectations would be higher but not really in economy or premium economy. Instead of the foil the public should complain about things that matter such as the lack of space in economy, or having to pay to select seating and so on. In other words, we got bigger issues to fix first, we can live with the foil.

I flew World Traveller Plus (Premium Economy) to Dubai and it was incredible from crew, to the food to the product. I genuinely would fly BA again on that route over Emirates, and I have done that flight in World Traveller as well. That being said my flight coming from San Fransisco to Heathrow in World Traveller (Economy) was some of the worst catering I've had on a flight. So I don't know if its an airport catering/supplier thing, because wherever they get that crap from needs to be sent back. With the entertainment screen, I believe it has a resistive touch system which is is pretty much the first generations of screens before multi-touch even existed! I am glad they have updated this on their A350's, B787-10 and refurbished Gatwick based B777's. However their refurbished Heathrow B777's seems to have kept the old screen system. Maybe because they are going to be replaced with the B777X's? But that brings the question of all the good multi-touch systems that they fitted with the 747 refurbishment which has now gone into the bin! To be honest, I always bring my own entertainment and headphones. My iPad Pro and AirPod's Max is a better visual and audio experience any airline could have to offer with high resolution, brightness, HDR, spatial audio and all the rest of Apples tech. The IFE is only helpful for the map. Great trip report and video!

Priority boarding, yes, but as I don't have FF status, I would've expected priority check-in for PE. Anyway, after watching your video, I've decided to go with another airline. :D

Flew BA Y+ PHX-LHR back in Oct 22, our meals looked better and received a hot meal on arrival. The FA’s did minimal work on that flight not very proactive.

I've just booked a flight in premier economy with BA Dallas FW in June . You would expect for the price paid for the ticket that it would include selecting the seat you want. Not charge you an extra £75 to do so .

BA onboard catering has definitely got worse. One of the RU-vid flight reviews for a Heathrow to Singapore BA flight, which is one of the longest sectors, included half a sandwich and a kitkat for breakfast after 12+ hours. A small portion of “fresh” fruit and a warm croissant or bacon roll offering with a decent coffee or tea would probably go down well with most passengers.

All being well flying BA PE Gatwick to Mauritius on a 777 next February. How did you get into the lounge at SF?

I flew BA Premium economy and it was horrible. Firstly, the boarding process was terrible because they didn’t call by groups. Then my husband and I were stuck in the middle seats next to a stranger. Never again. We flew from Chicago to London then London to Nairobi. Next time I’ll stick to the African airlines like Kenya Airways.

Everybody likes to complain about the IFE. The last time I flew across the Atlantic they were still pulling down a screen on the bulkhead and lowering a projector from the overhead compartment. Half the time somebody would be standing between you and the screen! The audio was half a dozen channels of uninteresting talk or bad music with one earpiece not working half the time. Concorde didn't even have a movie.

I've noticed when you compare partners to BA such as AA, the in flight entertainment systems on BA are horribly dated. Slow, unresponsive and small screens that are low resolution. I'll be flying prem econ on AA and BA this Christmas, London to JFK and back. The IFE does not personally bother me as I will just use it for the flying map and will bring my own entertainment on a tablet and listen to my own music. Food does not look great. I think the severe staff issues have badly affected BA. When you consider that prem econ is basically just giving you what you'd have had seat and service wise in economy in the 90s and early 2000s. It's quite expensive. For me though as a big guy, economy is viable on a 1-2 hour flight but for longer I need a bigger seat with more legroom. The airlines know this.

Makes you wonder what they serve in Economy. Likely the exact same thing but different cutlery, crockery and identical meal. Who knows? that is the new standard worldwide.

Sounds like World Traveller Plus catering and IFE has not improved since I last flew in that cabin 15 years ago. I'm planning to fly to Singapore next year and I am not even considering BA to fly there because of the poor offerings. Instead I'm lookijg to fly with either Finnair or Singapore Airlines themselves.

I flew to Joburg i premium economy in 2018, really nice flight on the whale. Since then, I see the price has almost doubled for that same flight, so it's not nearly worth the price anymore. Its virgin Atlantic for me to Joburg next time.

I find BA’s catering out of the US is often far worse than when departing London. Not sure why they are not able to source the same quality as from their home base when other airlines manage. Also: fun fact, BA have never served sparkling wine in WT+ on inbound flights to London. Apparently to do with limited chilled storage space. Sparkling wine is only served in that cabin on flights outbound from London.

A very honest review of BA, every review on BA I watch they are always saying the same thing... The product is very poor. I would not fly with BA if they paid me to travel first class. They really need a total revamp.

Recently flew Premium Economy from London to Los Angeles and return from Las Vegas to London - such a poor service ! Delays / ran out of food options - both ways !! / hard cheese sandwiches/ filthy toilets/ As far as I can tell the only real plus is the seat space but even with that there was the usual self entitled moron in front who puts their seat back immediately with no regard for the personal space of others - as long as they are comfortable??!!) Throughout the flights the staff gave the distinct impression that they were simply not interested in anything other than getting the meal over with so that they could sit at the back of the plane and do whatever it is that they do ? I’ve travelled a lot with BA in a number of classes but this journey was seriously poor - “all hype and no delivery” !!! BA have a real nerve charging the money that they do for this - it was totally unpleasant !

food looked crap......not really "premium" at all. May be, economy and premium economy serve the same food.

How come you got lounge access. Cos you don't get that with P/economy. Well at least your food was edible. The only time (And the Last time) I flew with B/A in P/E the food was inedible. I think anyone that even flies with B/A are Martyrs. Even some USA companies are better, and that's saying something. I will say something good about B/A and that's they normally get you to your destination. But That's it.

Flew with them once and it'll be the last. Rude flight attendants, and lost luggage.

That does look uninspiring. They could just simply remove the foil as they serve the meals to passengers, Air Canada do this. It's weird, even now looking back, to see the mask safety theatre in effect. I am glad it has gone/back to individual choice.
