How long it's been? This Vid right here and now is the first i'm ever hearing of this game, but the fact it's been worked on so long sounds promising, not detrimental to me... that sounds to me like that means it's being done RIGHT, not Fast. :)
@@JoshuaGanoTyraxLightning You're lucky you heard of it late. It has been announced by 2018 and was planned to release much earlier, but they decided to make it multiplatform and started remaking the engine from scratch, basically resetting the whole dev process. We could have gotten it by around 2020-2021, but now even 2025 doesn't guarantee a release
@@daridon2483 Though I won't say 'no' to being saved wait time, i'm no stranger to patiently waiting for a game for many years. I'm old hat at it. Among my more recent escapades at this: "Core Keeper", which has been a long road, and now is roughly a monthish away from its Full Release. :)
I really don't know if I'd even play it at this point. When it was announced I was super excited, but I'm 22 now and work an 8-5 job. All of high school and college passed for me before this game has come out.
Im in the same boat. I think the people who were excited for this when it was announced are getting too old. Hopefully, it will come out in time for our kids to enjoy lol
My goodness, when Chippy said this game started development in 2015 it hit me that this game has been in development for nearly a decade. 9 years of development, 6 of them after being announced.
"Silksong soon? Did you hear that, Silksong Community?" The Silksong community: "A SACRIFICE MUST BE MADE. TEAM CHERRY REQUIRES THE BLOOD OF ANOTHER, AND THE BLOOD OF ANOTHER WE SHALL DELIVER!! TO THE VILLAGES!!!!! Glad to see them having fun
Developers are mistaken because they think they have to. If they released the game, than update it overtime it would be a good ending. But no, they want to follow it up to the hype they got from the trailer
@@lourohired There's no reason for them to release the game if it hasn't reached the vision. Riot games acquired Hypixel studios, one day of revenue from people buying LoL and Valorant skins can keep the Hytale project afloat for weeks, I genuinely just think there isn't a rush.
@@thebaseandtriflingcreature174 hytale is huge, it's not going to be cut, they are making a huge investment into it and trying to make it perfect because they do not want to just match Minecraft's success but 10x it.
@@thebaseandtriflingcreature174 one of reasons was that if otherworld would be developed, devs would need to stop updating normal Terraria (if i'm not wrong Red himself told that). So it became controversial, and both Relogic and Terraria players still wanted Terraria to have updates. So at the end they decided to stop working on otherworld, and continue updating Terraria. I don't think that similar thing will happen here.
My worry is that in every blogpost it always sounds like "we're finally getting started". Did they get a ton of setbacks? People including myself are concerned and upset because we have no idea where they are in development anymore. We cant tell if theyve just started making the game even remotely playable because of the engine move, how long will it take to move the tons and tons of assets over to the new engine? Will the game even look like their trailer by the end of the year? Or the end of next year. It really does feel like its never coming out and I want to get some confirmation of whether or not the trailer was even representative of what they had ready and playable at the time, or if it was even rendered in engine or was just a concept demo animated outside of engine... Was any of that real? Can we even expect to get what we saw? I've defended them on the fact that it does take a lot of time to develop a game, but that leaves the trailer like an anomaly that shouldn't have been out yet. I get moving to a new engine takes time, I get covid happened, I get they were hiring a new team. But we only have small and vaguely worded hints as to some small things they were working on over the course of a year or more... as though they hadn't been even developed until that point. The vague wording really doesn't help their case and reduces confidence in the idea that they even had any of their shown concepts developed properly. I'm hoping it's just a case of poor communication because they have all the assets and as soon as they transfer all of them and get them running they basically have their game at an alpha or beta state... but who knows at this point
I can see where you're coming from, but I do think you're overanalyzing a bit. Yes, you could definitely argue that they pulled the trigger on the trailer too early, but the trailers also generated enough hype to get the attention of Riot Games, which is probably the only reason they aren't shut down right now. I also strongly believe that what they've shown will reflect the final game. Things may shift slightly, as this game has taken a while and has hit a few bumps, but they continue to demonstrate that they are steadfast on their original vision, which is very respectable.
They did say it will be functionally better than the legacy version at the end of this year (BIG emphasis on functionally), so while it might not look as good visually as the legacy version at the end of this year, it will have better performance, better mob AI's, and anything else that is about functionality.
I think the scope has just slowly become bigger. It seems like they want to release Hytale with day-one extensive support for a potential modding and mini-game oriented community. I think it's highly unlikely that they'd release Hytale 'unfinished' in scope. I, for one, am glad that they seem adamant on releasing a whole product, rather than throwing it out there for hype, and slowly patching it. It's what games like Cyberpunk: 2077 and No Man's Sky did, and the had to, over multiple years, re-gain the trust of their community. Granted, those games were sold under the false premise of a 'complete' game, when they were really products that needed at least a year of further patching. I'm tired of games studios thinking it's ok to sell us consumers a half-baked product with an empty promise of completing it 'in the future'.
I think that they are such a huge company that transparent communication when things are still just kinda plodding along and work in progress, is basically impossible due to people trying to cover their own ass. In a big company, you don't wanna be the guy who says, yeah were taking fucking ages and we postponed releasing the game because the execs saw we could earn a whole lot more money from this.
See you in 5 years where we get our first 5min open playtest and then another 5 years where they announce the game is coming out in 2 years and then they delay it 20x and then Riot closes the studio to invest everything they have into their first party MMO
They delayed it because they wanted to switch to a new engine because the old one wasn't good enough the developers didnt expect this much publicity so they wanted to make a better experience for the players you dont want another cyberpunk 2077 situation where they rushed the devolmpent and made a horrible game
@@djinni2005 Sometimes games get stuck in devolmpent hell and come out garbage like duke nukem forever But we cant judge a game that hasn't released from what I've seen hytale escaped devolmpent hell Just like you said we have to wait and see
@@Imryzen4090 thats not the point lol, if its free to play than they will need to generate profit somehow, and how is that you ask? in game currency, micro transactions, etc etc... yeah i have no hope lol
If they really want the multiplayer to take off I think the F2P model could work though, but I'd much rather they have a set price and then hopefully good yearly sales can keep the game getting free updates F2P hasn't been confirmed though, although they did announce the game during the rise of Fortnite so I always suspected it might be a possibility
I'll be frank, if this game will have a price tag, I'll even dare say this could be Minecraft 2 and I'd pay for it just fine. The game shows so much promise and I have high hopes it ends up being successful, but I don't know if the F2P idea is... Well, good.
F2P is never good. Don't delude yourself. We can already reasonably assume that even in the best scenario this game is going to be greed-oriented and flooded by mobile toddlers with mom's credit card.
@SmellyHam I'll say if Hytale is paid, there's a chance it won't get very popular, where if it's free, it will be very popular very quickly, as the only free minecraft clone across all platforms. I think they're partially releasing it free just because it would be a guaranteed success
So if this does end up being free to play, it raises the important question of where they’re getting their money from. Option 1: aggressive microtransactions. Option 2: selling your personal information. Considering the studio is now owned by riot games, which is owned by Tencent, I consider this the most likely option
@@N_Sgames Dude you trying so hard to defend f2p, what stake do you have in this? Can you just not buy games or something, or do you like giving companies money because paying 20bucks for a game is too much but 60dollars in total through bits and pieces across a year is ok.
@@madmantheepic7278 I am highly against paywalled content. If it is going to be f2p I would imagine the only thing payed will be cosmetics. The team really knows the community and know that paywalled content will backfire immensely. Anyway have a good day.
@@N_Sgames I honestly wish i had the same optimistic outlook that you have on this, i have seen wayyyyy too many f2p live service micro transaction store from sims completely destroy games. But yea, cheers mate, have a good day.
Huh, forgot this game remotely existed. Though the news of it turning into free to play doesnt give me much hope about it, since it could possibly ruin it.
@@N_Sgames I wasn’t implying the monetisation for it. Nowhere in my comment said anything about monetisation, what I merely forgot to add since it was early in the morning for me when I added the comment is that it making a game free to play can either be a good thing or turn out to be a bad thing. Though if you disagree with that, good for you, you’re entitled to your opinion. I will not see anymore reason to carry this further.
@@lemoneyesalt5513 I don't think that is what their stragety is going to be, I assume it will just be cosmetics behind a paywall and no content. That is because the developers do know the community and know that the it would backfire if they would add content behind a paywall.
@@Serial_Designation_V7638 I assumed you were implying monetization. Because I can't think of any other factor that might impact the game if it is going to be f2p. You might not follow Hytale and just immediately assume that they are going to be aggressive with microtransactions and stuff, but as someone who does, the team really has a passion for the game and its community, in fact a lot of people working on the game are from the community
@@N_Sgames If a game is truly free it doesn't have the funding it needs, meaning very small or no updates. Passion is not enough to fund a game, that's what worries us... and the fact that they're owned by Riot games who are very greedy.
@@bernadettavarley Today, games that are free and sell cosmetics, are more profitable than paid games. Just look at the amount of money games like Fortnite or CS earn. And with the developers being passionate I mean that they will not completely scam you with microtransactions and leave the game. Riot is not that bad, at least for big game companies standard, I talked with some people that are in this industry and that personally know Riot games employees and they all said that the company is very good at making a lot of money while balancing the quality of the game. I don't really play Riot's games but when I played one the game was fun and didn't overwhelm me with microtransactions. But anyways have a good rest of your day.
@@N_Sgames Things like selling cosmetics is exactly what worries people. People want this to me a completely customizable game, they're wanting it to be a Minecraft replacement. If there is sold content then there is content they are actively barring us from changing ourselves because if we could then why would we buy the microtransactions? If they rent out servers, or let people sell their on a market and take a cut then that would be fine, but basically any other form of microtransaction is just a bad idea for what they've marketed this game as, which is a Minecraft replacement like game.
Things are starting to ramp up? It took them a year to do an update post. If you go to their website and scroll to the bottom, they are hiring a Lead Project Manager for Monitization. This game is dead to me, lol.
Monitization director doesn’t mean f2p. A good p2p game still needs knowledge about monitozation to know how expensive the game should be and to manage dlcs and the online scene.
lol i remember every year till 2022 I was hopeful for its release or even some info. Now just i dont really give a shit. I barely remember how I was when the trailer released.
Free to Play under anything controlled by Tencent is a nail in the coffin, not to mention they've taken far too long since the initial trailer and the hype it generated for this to succeed. All that hype is gone now, they will be succeeding or failing without any type of hype train influence.
everyone's already resentful of them baiting us with the trailer. As you said, if the game isn't good in the first 2 weeks of release it will certainly die. It's boon is that it is made by riot + minecraft but better clone which will already drag in a lot of people.
this game was started when i was still in high school. im 28 now. this is depressing af. the long dev time has really made me cynical to the whole thing. i dont know if im even going to be able to play it at this point if it ever does release. its a busy world, everyday that goes by is another person lost that was waiting for this game 10 years ago.
hey guys, do you perhaps remember that game was from a company with a history of abandoning multiple games they tried to develop before the so-called "The Day Before"? Remember when they had developers volunteer to make their game instead of hiring a team? Damn, it must be the same deal with Hypixel right? Crazy, its like people just post silly comments without even thinking...💀
lol any time a game changes engines it ends horribly, honestly. so many games in recent years goes through delays then randomly they announcd that theyre changing engines and it usually ends poorly
Luckily in this case they were transparent from the beginning about the engine change, and the timeline they talked about has been consistent, so I think it's likely that this will be a big positive rather than a letdown.

@@mohannedalmohandes4944 yeah, i mean when it does come out i'm sure it will be fine considering the "gameplay" footage we got and it's not really the most complicated idea for a game, the only other question that needs answering really is the F2P aspect

7:17 ye this already exists in minecraft. With the use of commands you can spawn a fake version of every mob in the game, control their size movment (or make them completely still), you can place them where ever, with no consequences. It's an insanely useful feature for youtubers. I will say it's a little complicated, but you can find preset commands online, and just copy paste.
Fuck me Rito? We're screwed. When it comes out it will be buggy as hell and every update will introduce entire new broken playstyles while nerfing others into unplayable ad infinitum with no real balance. On the plus side new things will keep being added.
I think they fucked up. As much as everyone hates a game that's released first and fixed later, it's been proven that it works to improve games of large scope, like this one. Even if they released the game a few years after its announcement, with a solid amount of features, but not a fully realized version of hytale, the hype still surrounding the game would have given them the players, feedback, and money that this game might have needed to become the perfect hytale. Now, it's a perfectionist bubble of development hell. The hype is gone for all but the most loyal fans, and even they are only believing in delayed promises after like 6 years.
The hype will return once they’re ready to release the game. They will put a new trailer out, like a release trailer, they will get youtubers to play it, the news will talk about it. Yes the hype is dead right now, but no way will it stay that way.
@@realpatty There is lots of kids that have not heard about the game, so when the release trailer comes they would be like. :oooooo Besides I'm 27 and I am still waiting.
This game looks really good, like just modded Minecraft with a texture pack and shaders/lighting mods, but it's a shame to see Hipixel was bought out by Riot Games, which is just Tencent. Why do companies always have to sell out.. sad :\
I really don't want this to be F2P, but it makes sense, since it could be trying to go the path of Roblox. They've put extensive effort into being able to create your own mods and experiences. The "metaverse" 🙄 is very popular right now, so I could see them trying to jump on that train with a solid product.
Although a lot of free the play games definetly do work however when it’s at such a high scale such as hytale it makes me worried it’s gonna be a freemium game
Im hopeful for hytale really does look like a modern minecraft taking the customizability of it and making it even more customizable along with what looks like an amazing survival mode.
The only problem I have with the game is it's player model faces. The big animated eyes, the tiny mouth, the missing nose, they look like Bratz dolls or (even more) off putting funko pops.
hytale looks actually amazing and i love that they dont try to rush uptates they take it slow so that everything would come out like its suppose to. the game is defenitly going to be awesome
This feels like something that should not have had the large announcement that it did considering how many behind the scenes reworks there have been. As things are they're definitely going to need a re-announcement because they sure as hell can't bank on the hype that was generated from their initial announcement.
F2p isn't a bad thing, the only downside is paid cosmetics. The f2p aspect doesn't really mean anything, I often hear people say that it will ruin the game. How does f2p ruin it? (I genuinely want to know)
@@N_Sgames because if a game is F2P they need other ways of earning money than just selling a game since it's free and pretty much always the other ways of making money are predatory microtransactions or in-game ads. Even if they would be purely cosmetic I can't imagine paying for skins/texture packs like in minecraft bedrock edition not being awful
@tot0byafrica748 lol we don't have plans on having a large wedding. Just something at the courthouse. And we aren't having kids so that expense isn't going anywhere either
so many times since i was around 12, ive been seeing games teased that like this, look exciting. but then comes the 4+ year wait that eventually kills alot of drive to play it. imo they shouldnt have release their trailer so early cause this is the exact same thing ive seen alot of mmos in the past do, only to basically die shortly after being released.

They think they have to release the game in a perfect state deserving the hype they got from the trailer. They are super wrong and we have no idea why they think that way. Minecraft, Terraria are big games that never came out perfect. They just updated their gsme over the years. What they showed us was already perfect in our minds, but they needed more. Mistakes-mistakes. But with that they have lost people's interest, followers/supporters, all the hype and now they have to build it up back again from the mug. People would not be dissapointed if the game released not well developed, but people will be dissapointed now if the game is not developed according to our waiting time.
I remember when hytale was first announced it was so much better than what we had with minecraft. Now after half a decade and a bunch of updates it's not that revolutionary anymore. With datapacks minecraft has also gotten a lot easier to modify
I don't know why I keep clicking these occasional Hytale videos expecting something different. It's still the same clips, the same "we're working on it :)))" devlogs...
Didn't they.... say the same.... like 3 years ago? Like at this point, I doubt the game is real. Seen bigger, more ambitious titles with less funding get greenlit and fully released. A sandbox game like that unironically can't take that long.
I can’t wait for this game! It looks amazing and I think it actually might bring some nalstogia with it because its kinda like Minecraft! I like the smooth animations and the shield and weapons designs!
They need to put total atention to the world generation. They dont need to give a hail lot of content on the release (and still they're giving it) but they need to care about players struggling to find everything we could find and explore. Empty biomes are a bit boring, we could get one or two without getting upset, cause we enjoy them to build. But things change when you're like "I have 12 hours playing and still dont find... something". Adding quests and points of interest on the surface helps a lot. Also they have to think on players that doesnt like to build, as some of us preffer to find structures and claim them as ours. Those couple of things are the only ones that are in my mind, they have quite covered the rest. And I know the game will keep updating after, so. Hope to see hytalers hytaling soon
This is the first time I have seen this game. I never played mine craft because it was a children’s game in my eyes and terraria is just so much better. With that said this game looks much better and like something I could really get into. Thanks for the coverage Chippers
It seems there are a lot of trend chasers commenting the same parroting statements without knowing a single goddamn thing about the game and it's current situation. Go read the blog posts people! The game devs are on track, milestones are being hit exactly as they intended, and the game is set to release at the end of this pipeline. They've been very VERY open about sharing exactly where they are in the process of development, you just have to actually read instead of just saying "ded game" and "me no like wait" and "game bad cos I don't have yet" and the most overused thing ever said, "I forgot about this game lol" no you didn't, you comment that on every single upload with Hytale in the title, and probably hit the bell too just so you can comment it more.. it's beyond old at this point.
the problem here is that the people you're talking to are literal children who got overly emotionally invested in the game and when they realised it wasn't coming out in the next couple of years went all "No! I wanted it now 4 years ago 😡 now I don't want it anymore!".
I think this looks amazing. I will probably start playing this when it comes out. I hope that if they make it f2p they keep microtransactions to cosmetics. It works very well for fortnite and prolly other games as well.
yooo chippy i forgot you were into hytale too, i got a bit disappointed with the last blog but you know what, i've seen a lot of game projects come and go, most of them focus adding stuff and forget about the fundamentals of the game; the GAME ENGINE, this is what keeps everything running and defines how good the performance will be and how difficult it is to add or modify stuff, one example of this going wrong is Starbound, they made its engine to allow modding but it had a lot of limitations and there was going to be a point where adding content would drop the performance way below the 60fps, the team kept going with it anyway and nowadays the game is a unstable mess that doesn't even use all of your processor to run. another example would be minecraft with its performance getting lower and lower with every update up to 1.19 where they started fixing stuff. if the hytale team is able to pull a good engine off, in the modding side of things this would mean modding would be something "trivial" even for casual players, you'd be able to modify anything and add anything, the most basic form of this will be clothing and skins i think. in the performance front thanks to its cube shaped chunks it would be capable of incredible drawing distance without losing fps, or trigger lots of code that alters the world and have it displayed immediately (imagine a couple thousand tnts in minecraft java but without dropping a single frame), this could also theoretically allow infinite world height. also don't forget about the graphics, minecraft struggles to compete in terms of shaders with games from the 2010s as the game is limited by how it was made (also artistic vision but thats not the point), ie i can run skyrim with all of its glory in a 2017 card, meanwhile modern vanilla minecraft struggles to maintain 60fps at 12 chunks, if hytale is optimized my hope is that it would be stable with decent drawing distance even in old cards. (btw, this isn't to throw shade into starbound or minecraft, i love them as much as hytale.) anyway thanks for reading if you made it this far.
Yeah they definitely announced it a bit early, but it could be worse, like Bethesda releasing the announcement trailer for elder scrolls 6, SIX YEARS AGO, and have heard nothing since lmao
I really wish that riot had never gotten involved, their philosophy in business and design are basically the inverse of what this project was supposed to be about, and its a shame
This game is OBVIOUSLY inspired by minecraft, but it's not a copy, so anyone new to this game don't spam it. it's more like a combination with minecraft dungeons, and normal minecraft.
