What's Happening With Teferi? (ONE Epilogue) | Phyrexia: All Will Be One Lore 

Love Teferi to death ever since Teferi's Protection. He's such a hard charcacter to write, though. It feels like Wizards' team still hasn't got that "immortal" thing down yet. The way they write Teferi (and Sorin, for that matter) just doesn't reflect how ancient they are. They behave like conflicted young adults, and that just doesn't cut it. :/ They can say a character feels a certain way, but the moment they get to act and interact with the world everything falls apart: they do what a distressed not particularly bright young adult would do. People say "write what you know", but how many of Wizards' writers can accurately give an old person's perspective on things? Write Teferi as that fit grandpa forever dealing with something he did in the war, write Sorin as that old count who doesn't like to flex, prefering to run things smoothly. Write them as anything but young people! The only ones they ever did a decent job with were essentially cheats: Ugin, Emrakul, Kruphix, which got just enough time to show how wise they were and poof; Yawgmoth, Urza, Nahiri, Bolas, Niv-Mizzet... all so absorbed in their own interests and obsessions that they barely interacted outside of their narrow development scopes. To be fair, the point with Urza and Yawgmoth was precisely to show how much they detached themselves from humanity, so I guess that counts as an actual win. It was so long ago, though... So, while I like the general direction of the story so far, the Teferi bits just lack that maturity the character so badly needs. ... Except that Wrenn short. That was surprisingly fine.

The Wanderer appearance in phased Zhalfir means that Zhalfir still intact to current time flow. The only problem is Zhalfir still in other dimension or pocket plane.

Wow. I love this concept of The Wanderer flickering in like this. Reminds me of Dr. Who and how the time war is "time locked" but a darlek accidently breaks through. I only hope there won't be a End Game style go back in time to fix everything plot....

As sad as I am to lose Vraska and Jace, seeing their deaths gives me some real hope that magics lore is really improving

Lili is going to save the multiverse by herself for the third time

I don't know if its the winter or i just got chills from this. I love that Teferi gets to fight the Phyrexians with Zhalfir like they were supposed to the first time. If there was ever a time to bring back Zhalfir its now. The people who were preparing but never got to finish the battle. Also a great time to bring in a advanced nation to the war and maybe get some new weapons of destruction.

Teferi is the most intriguing character currently.

Teferi "scrying" someone's mind for memories just makes me love the scry mechanic even more. Just makes so much sense how it works lore wise and mechanically in the game.

For the first time ever I am more interested in a set’s story more than the cards themselves

I’m still trying to think of how inistrad is involved, we’ve seen a little bit of every standard plane in the phyrexian war except inistrad. And the only significance that comes to mind with that plane is Emrakul in the moon who still speaks with Liliana

Something to mention is that Teferi gave up his spark to mend the time line during Plane shift do to all the time portals that were being opened up. So the chance of him undoing time is pretty much null.

more fuel for the theory that the phyrexians will be stopped by zhalfir being phased back in. Since it was ripped out of time, it might even still contain pre mending planeswalkers

I wonder if since Jace is now with Phyrexia and he is really the only one aware of where Nicole Bolas is. If Elesh norn will try to after Bolas. It could be an interesting way for Bolas to become a good guy if he manages to escape and ends up having to work with the others to stop Phyrexia since he is aware of the threat they pose.

Teferi being around, is troubling for the lore. Cause if he's there, so is the ease of timetravel to erase what have happened eventually. Including the compleation of planeswalkers, which would feel rather cheap. Might be he can't do a lot right now, but the option is there. Here's hoping they won't go the cheap route.

I called he was going to end up in his old home. Hoping he and Elspeth find a means to cure the compleated planeswalkers. Ajani dying off screen and having his corpse kicked around for two sets would be such a disservice to his character. But "consequences " i guess.

I give you the next uzer but with a conscious and the age of wisdom. I can't I can't wait to see what they do with this character.

Countless of years the people of Zhalfir have readied themselves for Phyrexia. Maybe they have become strong enough and found some means to fight them?

After this dark end for the set, I hope the march of the machines finish in a battle with Teferi and zhafir appearing in the last minute to win one battle, very much like Gandalf and the rohirrim did in their moment.

Anyone else feel like there should be a mini block set exclusively in Zalfir?

I've always liked Teferi's character. Even all the way back in the old days of Magic's storyline. So I like it that he is gradually becoming our own timeline's version of "Urza." Not in the crazy, unhinged, winner-take-all way that Urza was. But still with the same knowledge, the same determination to destroy Phyrexia, and the same ability to unite everybody. This is Teferi's centuries-long story arc finally coming full circle! I like that he finally found his way to Zhalfir, at long last!

I bet my ass they will return bolas for this story, would be also cool to see the eldrazi also as the ultimate dudes to put a stop to phyrexia all out of nowhere (elesh tho ❤️)

I don´t know much about the old Magic Lore but if Zhalfir is phased out of time how the hell did the Wanderer end up there ?

My question is does compleation of a planeswalker mean death of the original being or is their flesh and mind just twisted. Because if its mind and flesh being twisted I can see a story where the minds of some of the walkers restored except for the flesh at the resolution of this story.

What I'm wondering, is how was The Wanderer able to planeswalk into a phased out Zalphir? That act raises so many more questions.

Speculation time: looking at the next sets here is my theory on game state and moving forward. Aftermath will take place on Zhalfir. Teferi is able to phase Zhalfir back to reality but has premending time rifts. Tezzeret will be the hero and have a redemption story where his body can not handle the pull of the planar bridge anymore and sacrifices himself absorbing phyrexia into a zhalfir time rifts and tefari closes the rift phasing phyrexian out of existence and the blind eternity. Leaving zhalfir in a post apocalyptic state premending. Tefari is the last of the planeswalkers and sets out find others. That is where he will find himself and the wondering emperor on eldraine and form an alliance to search what is left of the multiverse for any surviving planeswalkers. Our travels in the new saga we will travel to Ixalan, Vryn, lorwyn and strixhaven before branching back to older worlds. Argument can be said for visiting shanadalar before strixhaven , kaladesh, and eventually ravnica 5-10years after rebuild.

So if I understand this correctly, Whatever Tiffany did normally shifted Zhalfir into a pocket dimension where time just flows differently and why nothing he could do could retrieve it, because it's not lost to time, it's lost to space? Is that the gist of Zhalfir? As far as why Teferi can't get away... This entire debacle with the time shifting is a little strange imo.

So tefiri will reset the time and save all the planes walkers, I have that feeling

This Is quite confusing, I mean I can wrap my head around Teferi fucking around in time could end up in Zalphir, but the rest of the story gives me an headhache, did time flow normally in Zalphir? He met with some old characters like Jabari but the Queen told him 360 years passed and meanwhile the Wanderer somehow got there and Karvaek too has escaped am I the only One lost on this story?

Well since they have Jayce he could tell them that Nico Bolas lives so they could ty to infect him as the ultimate weapon and with a Phyrexianized Bolas all hope is lost unless they somehow convince Emrakul to help....good luck with that without Tamiyo to unlock the moon as you don't want to destroy it Innistrad would suffer then. Either way the Phyrexians has two very strong options that are pretty much Plain enders in of themselves if they look like they are starting to lose. Imagine that a completed Bolas poetic if i do say so myself it would be in a set called "All Hope is Lost" or would that be the set where they would have to release Emrakul by destroying Innistrad's Moon to wipe out all infected plains. I really want the consequences of killing the Titans to show up just like Ugin warned and the theme of Phyrexia invading the multiverse really sets up the whole shouldn't have killed the Titans bit if they maintain the plains as Phyrexia is a corrupting stagnating force

I'm confused as to what is happening now. Is Teferi's home back now? And what is supposed to help stop the phyrexians? I honestly don't see any way WotC can continue Magic with everything becoming Phyrexianized, or they pull some kind of bullshit like rewinding everything to before the phyrexian's invaded

I'm calling it. Teferi will have a card in March of the Machine named something like "Teferi, Hero of Zhalfir". After hundreds of years of missteps and mistakes, he's finally fighting alongside the people of his homeland.

I'm looking forward to Sorin Markov's reaction to what has become of his old friend Nahiri. I wonder if Markov would make a deal with the devil, in this Nico Bolas, join their souls making the dragon in a sense immortal again to gain his abilities and ageless knowledge in order to defeat Ekesh Norn and Phyrexia. I think it would be fun to see Markov in his final act allow himself to step out from the dark vampiric shadow he was burdened to carry for an eternity to become the hero he always was.

I like to think Teferi gives off Usher vibes.

Teferi has been one of MTG's strongest characters post Mending. Even Karn kinda falls flat and actually has been underutilized . But I'm calling it that Teferi's gonna phase Zhalfir back into Dominaria the question is when? If he does it in the present then "wooh new armies to the front". If he does so in the past it could establish another full story reset a la DC Infinity Crisis. And the story can save not only the post Mending planeswalkers but Teferi could rewrite the first Phyrexian Invasion. As apart from a few stories and characters, none of the post Mending walkers I feel are all that popular.

Only problem is, this doesn't seem to be permanent, so we're gonna get other Teferi cards (let's hope he actually lost his spark and becomes a legendary creature instead)

Its always the same narrative, its always the same outcome and it always fails to deliver. You had such wonderful players and an amazing enemy with a rich storyline and none of that makes a fucking difference. It's sad that I keep my Hope's up for me to always feel disappointment. Smh
