I think there was a comment buried somewhere in here saying that a kilogram of feathers was in fact lighter due to it generating lift or something (I might be wrong).

Overly technical jackass (me): Well you see, 1kg is a measurement of mass, not weight. On Earth, and with an accurate enough scale, the denser object would weigh in at slightly more due to the buoyant force from the atmosphere the objects displace being subtracted from their weighing. Because of this, if you had precisely 1kg of each feathers and steel and an accurate enough scale, you'd find the steel to weigh very slightly more than the feathers under normal Earth conditions. Likewise, if you weighed them in the vaccume of deep space, the only force creating weight would be the gravetational force between the objects and their scales. Because the scale could get closer to the center of mass of the system, it would experience a larger gravitational pull and read a higher weight. Conclusion: 1kg of steel would weigh in as heavier than 1kg of feathers under most conditions. ...I did warn you it would be overly technical, tbf.
