They would have made some of the journey over land, but to reach the island, they would have needed to know how to sail and navigate the ocean. It's such a fascinating subject, they must have just decided to strike out for a new home. I wonder what made them decide to undertake such a treacherous journey?. I really hope we don't see a repeat of people trying to go to the island, because it's such a huge risk for these people. I couldn't care less if the Sentinelese kill them, they're defending their 60,000 year old home, and their traditions and lives. One germy tourist could wipe them out.

Only way to really know more about them is peaceful and sanitary human contact. You would have to wear armor capable of withstanding arrows along with a hazmat suit in order to guarantee their safety and your safety.
