It's fun being a copier tech. A lot of independence, driving, and never knowing where you will be unless you are dedicated to a particular account. I am dedicated to a very large hospital and love it. Got my own badge to access about anywhere lol. But there are some downsides. One, the pay is low for this work. Two, unless you have a company car, you put a lot of miles on your vehicle, don't get much compensation and your vehicle is full of parts. Three, you meet a lot of good people but you constantly meet office Karen's and people who attempt to be the hero and fix the machine...... This happens more often than people realize. But had a lady try to remove a jam from the fuser with a letter opener. Looked like a beaver chewed it up lol. She couldn't get it all out. I flipped the fuser pressure relief tabs and pulled it right out. It took week to get another fuser because of Christmas shipping rush and supply issues. Had another lady with a waste toner full message. She decided to empty it in a trash can on her desk with a desk fan going 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. She had toner all over her clothes. She then said she used a rag with the hottest water she could stand and it seems to only make it set in. I cringed and felt bad when I told her you fused it to your clothes with heat and cold water was the way to go. I also gave her a bunch of yellow dusting rags and let her use my toner vac to clean her area. But the worst was the office manager. She refused help over the phone from the help desk. She would only say it has an error, don't work, she needs another machine now to print payroll. It took 5 hours to get there because of weather, call volume, and her being way out in nowhereville. I walk in and she is just pissed from the start. SEE! SEE!! It just beeps at me! I got payroll checks to print and I hope you brought me a new machine! I have tried everything to get this boat anchor working!!! And by your looks and attitude, you don't give a chit and that is why I think you on purpose took 5 hours to get here! So what are you going to do about this?????.... By this time, most of the office has their heads popped up and watching. I look at the screen and it says resources required and there must be 50 or more jobs waiting. I notice tray 1 is set to custom size when the jobs require letter size from tray one. I open the tray and the left guide is pushed nearly all the way out. I adjusted it and everything starts printing. I tried to explain what happened loud enough for others to hear. You could hear most everyone snickering. She said I tried that blah blah blah. Then said I am calling your manager to report how late, rude, and nasty you were! As I was leaving, a man and woman caught me. They said don't mind her as she is bipolar. We tried helping her and she refused anyone's help. But we are calling your manager to explain the situation and what you dealt with....... About an hour later my manager calls laughing. He said this lady called 5 minutes after you closed that call and gave feedback that I just couldn't believe. And right after I get off the phone I have a couple from the same office highly praise your patience, resolution, and basically tell me that first lady is crazy...... what a day Mike!

It is overall a good job being a copier / printer tech. Out and about, I find mainly meeting nice people. My general attitude is I’m there to help them and when they are grumpy and have a lot of issues I write them problems down on a bit of paper, ie, Fault 1, Fault 2 etc. I’ve found customers like this as they feel your listening to them but it also slows them down in their complaining as they have to wait for your writing. Then you can address each issue and after show them all fixed etc. as you say - we could always do with more money too.

Long jonny is a Wiha brand. The 5.5mm hex tip version for woking on Ricoh. JIS +2 screwdriver tip for everything else (not Philips)

Snap On Phillips screwdrivers? You're not working on a 73 Dodge. What about JIS standard screwdrivers, 5.5mm driver, spring hooks, hemostats. Blue rags for optics? Your mirrors must be scratched pretty badly. Nowadays, your second most used tool is your laptop.
