Why is it such a big deal if a woman doesn’t do much in the kitchen? How unprogressive must you be to still highlight this and find it amusing? This is what makes K-Reality shows or K-dramas (or just the culture itself) annoying for the most part. Once, I saw a female chef in this show being patronized for plating with detail, with the male chefs saying it’s women who come up with such ideas to beautify the plate, as if male chefs never do that. I had to roll my eyes. Korea has advanced its economy and technology, but still has a lot to do in advancing perceptions and treatment of women. And women need to start breaking these societal patterns too.
