What's in my ART BAG? | The supplies I take for travel and doing art away from home. 

I usually put my kneaded eraser into a mini Altoids tin. It keeps the eraser from getting dirty from lint or dirt, and it doesn’t stick to everything else! You might be able to find something small and thin like that to hold your kneaded eraser.

I LOVE watching people's gear bag videos. Thank you for sharing. I had two thoughts. One, put some napkins or folded paper towels in a zip bag to put in the front pocket that is currently empty. The other is to store your kneaded eraser in the washi tape hole. Love your upbeat energy.

You did a great job renovating the battered pallet, the spray enamel was magic. Great pallet for your bag.

What a well kited out art bag. Super cute flask! I think if you made duplicates of your house and car keys, you could clip them to the ring where the shoulder strap goes through. This would get the keys out of the pocket behind your wallet. The phone could replace the keys (maybe line that pocket with fun foam for extra cushion. The only other items you may want to consider adding are extra batteries and SD card for your camera. That pencil case is just too stinking cute!

Ah, that little polychromos set is SO adorable - I want one, LOL! All this stuff looks like great fun. Love the cover on the sketchbook.

I just recently invested into a go-to out and about art travel bag. Sadly, my budget is chronically short, so I settled on a compromise. I got a folding chair that can hold my weight and has a backpack hanging underneath. I have sufficient space in there to stand one of those bamboo brush roll wallets and clear cosmetic bags next to it. I also have an A4 cutting mat, a combi of a pencil case rubber bands to hold pens and pencils and a pouch to just drop anything in. And it holds two sketchbooks and travel palette of water colors. For A3 formats, I got myself a beach bag and drawing board. I intend to equip the drawing board with a magnetic metal plate and make a magnetic holder plate for my tripod with quick release. The magnets hold 3kg each, so it shouldn't be a problem to hold the drawing board or if I attach a metal plate to a canvas board, the canvas board in any position upright or flat. I'm not sure yet whether I want to attach the tripod with rubber bands to the backpack or stuff it in the beach bag. The backpack comes with a pocket for water bottles. I stuffed one filled with distilled water, so purely for art purposes to go with two folding cups. I went with cups from the camping section with lits in the size of the Faber Castell cup. So far I still haven't started my field scaffold project nor just grabbed the backpack chair and enjoyed some outdoor sketching. Oh I also have two folding walking sticks and screw thingis to attach an umbrella to the sticks and the stick to the folding chair. I looked kind of nice. It comes from the fishing section. In the fishing section, you also find rather cool chair backpack combinations. us avoiding a wet mess in the bag.

My husband and i just came back from a mini break in Eden. Dont laugh my bag was a shopping bag. I took my fome pallet travel brushes, sketchbooks a3 and a5., eraser and graphite pencil, paper towel washi and small ruler with camera. Lots of photos to use of the sea and painted a pelican had a great time. Go while you can Becky I think lockdown might be around the corner here in Vic. Please share your paintings love seeing them.

Loved the video, I have subed for more. I never even thought about the Stanley flask, I like that much more than the plastic bottle I got.

I wouldn't mind an art bag too. I was thinking that recently. Although as much as I would want to use it, there are never enough hours in the week, to do as much as I want to do. I am starting to do more sketching and I think at some stage it would be nice to spend some time in parks drawing.

The only thing I could think of to add is sunscreen and paper towels or old wash rag. Nice bag of goodies.

The Bic ballpoint pens are really good to have. I recently got a Lamy Logo with a black refill because.. I use black a lot. I try to pack as light as possible but I also have a little mint container with some paper towel for my Pentel aquash brushes. I tend to use these when I'm not painting at home. And I always have my Polychromos with me that I bought open stock in my little pencil pouch.

Great bag. I have an army type canvas bag of a similar size to this but it actually came as a camera bag with a padded insert and dividers. I was using it as my everyday bag with my small Olympus camera with a "normal" lens and a small macro lens. Having the dividers is great for keeping my camera gear safely away from the other things that get chucked in there like sunscreen and kids things a lot of the time. I do keep a small A6 sketch book in there and a pencil but hadn't considered adding my small watercolour kit. You can buy camera bag inserts in all different sizes, cheaply online and I highly recommend one for keeping track of where your things are in your bag.

Im always glad to see a bag video they help so much when I work on my bag. Im not sure if itll help but you maybe want to consider getting some military pilot flasks. They hold 16 ounces and they are very slim and very cheap. They can be bought brand new off ebay and its what ive been using for my water needs for a while. Also if you want to make it a bit more versatile you can get a spanish military canteen cup that fits on the bottom and if you are out camping or something you can make a meal, tea, or coffee inside the cup and it doesnt add much weight at all. Im not in any way trying to say your kit needs improvement or whatever its just last I checked those stanley flasks were like $15 and only held 7 oz but with the pilot flasks its like 4 for $10.

perfect size for an art bag, not too big and not too small 😀 the Double D rings on the front flap would normally be used to strap the lid down more securely,hard to explain without showing someone lol

I just started to get into drawing and painting and happened upon your post. It's a lot of great information & i enjoy seeing the products people use, it gives me ideas of products i may want to try. I notice you have a "mole" on your left hand. Please ask your doctor to look at it the next time you have a visit. I had a mole that looked similar, dark in color but not all one color with uneven edges. It turned out to be precancerous. Nothing to worry about having it checked early-on. U could always throw a few binder clips and maybe safety pins in that zip section that flips over if accidentally left opened I say this because it’s just something I would do flip everything onto the floor in a busy store lmao

Love it! If you ever make it to Texas, we could go out and paint together. Funny thing, my art bag looks like yours, without the outside pockets. Lol.

I hurt my neck trying to lug all my art supplies to a life drawing session and had to have the day off work, ouch! These days I just put the supplies in an old soft art folio that the strap broke on and the sketchbooks in a granny trolley. I found an actual old doctor's bag at a Sunday market but do not travel with it (doesn't mean it is not full of stuff.)

You have a perfect use of space in that bag😂 I’d really like to try those Neocolors now I keep seeing them everywhere haha! Love the Australian landscape watercolor palettes as well. I suspect the Holbein watercolors are as pricey as the colored pencil version?😭 ugh they have such beautiful colors though!

You might consider keeping your kneaded eraser in the hole of your washi tape to keep it from getting things sticky.

Hi loved your art bag and how you set it up...great video learned alot about different items you use...like the stanley flask item but found it was made in china trying to not buy any items from china .... its just what I saw what was happening in Hong Kong and covid response....rather buy from other reasonable countries I know could make me a bit hypocritical as I'm from the states but it's just my thing I guess as a progressive human I believe in human rights to safety and peace...I know it's a small thing but for me, I rather support other countries and their products. Lol I know I know but..I'm a complicated human... but these past few years it broke my heart on covid and hong kong. If it wasnt for other artist who posted postive art stuff and ideas I'm not sure how our art community would've fared in america..... glad other artists like yourself tho that are showing ideas on items to put in bag I'm now on a hunt to find flask and bag like yours made some where. I saw a bag almost like yours made in Japan.. just a side note tho..stanley products used to be made in Tennessee but that state refuse to become a union state for workers rights and then because the companies all banned together in state said they would pull out of state if unions came in but then the first happened and Tennessee became right to work state that's where workers can get fired by bosses for any mundane issues even for just wearing wrong color clothing, it's quite ridiculous then many Tennessee businesses got bought out there were no unions to help negotiate or picket so the companies git bought out then move jobs to china....sorry about information but I quite enjoy labor rights history in America....how it impacts local workers...
