Just came back from a 2 and a half week trip from Japan and packing was a whole adventure on its own lol. I do put all my stuff in a carry on especially travelling internationally (too much anxiety to not). Had a backpack that fit everything in, but I did want a separate bag for my quick grabs (set of pump supplies, G7, low snacks, etc). I put those in a zipable tote. I use an insulated bottle to keep my insulin reliably cool. Shorter trips, I forego it. Always hate packing for trips because of all the extra supplies 😅 but that’s just part of the diabetic life. I’ll have to check those snacks out - they look great!

I love “what’s in my bag” content! I lost my job in May so was without insurance. Went to Florida for a week in June so didn’t have my Dexcom and pump. Only had insulin and needles and glucose meter along with glucose tabs and snacks/water. I’m back on my Dexcom and pump so can’t imagine packing now! Have fun! Your husband is so handsome! Such a cute couple!

Oh my goodness I am so sorry to hear this stress that you’ve been under!!! I’m glad to hear you’re back on the tech that you wanted! Thank goodness! Loss of insurance is SO STRESSFUL. I also lost mine earlier this year and it’s been such a nightmare so I really really really feel you on this and am sending you all the love and hugs and support!!! ❤️❤️❤️

Just bear in mind, that I’ve rolled onto the plane with a bag full of coated nuts and nut bars just to be told that there’s someone with an allergy on the same plane. Now I now always make sure I carry nut free snacks on the plane

I used to use a smaller rolling suitcase for my meds if flying. Other travels I use a big backpack I pack supplies based on ability to acquire supplies. When we went to the mountains for a weekend I would pack a lot. When we went to a major city I would be less inclined as I can buy stuff in stores like insulin and strips if needed. I packed in large ziploc bags or in an old Dexcom box or two. Now I have medical bags that I'll use next time I travel. What else depends on where I go but i have charge cords, tablet, phone, etc.

Love those NuGo slims!! If I’m in a hurry I find that they are quite easy to bolus for. My favorite is the crunchy peanut butter.

Thnx for sharing your travel bag 😊 I use the maximum allowable airplane size 😅 with packing cubes. One of those fits my diabetes stuffs perfectly. For my insuline I use seperate cooling bag with TSA approved coolers and included medical statement. I use the FSL2 and I always bring two extra and some cover stickers to protect my active FSL2 during swimming. I bring some good good bars and plain nuts in and glucose tablets... To combat the occasional Hypo 😂

I always have pens for long term and short term insulin with my travel time, just in case if any failure on my pump.

British airports are generally fine in my experience. They're very understanding and sympathetic. Amsterdam Schiphol, on the other hand, is a bad joke. Strip search in a private room just to see the coin-sized lump attached to my leg... My Libre 2 that was clearly big enough to bring down a jet liner!
@glenngardin3561
@glenngardin3561 День назад
Feel like I'm packing too light now! I use pens, so that simplifies things a bit. I do bring an extra Libre sensor, and extra short and long insulin. Also bring extra needles and finger test 'stuff' in case my sensor or phone dies. Love your videos, Andera! Have a nice and safe trip!

I recently discovered Skinny Dipped almonds and cashews and I'm so addicted to them. I haven't tried the lemon one you showed in the video but the dark chocolate ones are amazing. I can go through an entire bag in minutes. 😂

I don’t believe in the “Subtract the Fiber” either. I think that you need to Include all the carbs to get all the insulin you need especially since I hear that other nutrients in what you’re eating could interfere and block insulin if you will such as protein sometimes, I’ve heard.

I’ve heard that current guidelines from CDEs are to not use net carbs for new folks. I should switch but I’ve memorized all the nets of my favorite fruits and veg. I’m too lazy to do all that brain work again lol

I have had so many issues with the Dexcom G6 lately. The numbers just aren’t matching up. They’re 60 points or more off of my blood meter. Hopefully I can switch to the G7 since it is now compatible with Omni pod.

I'm Sio so sorry to hear this, and can relate. Especially at the beginning of my sensor I'm getting really off readings. I give it about 12-24 hours and then see where I'm at. But honestly, I can relate and you have my sympathy!
@user-nr5he3ic9o
@user-nr5he3ic9o День назад
Same issue here. I just switched last week and the G7 has been sooo much more accurate. Good luck
@Atrus999
@Atrus999 День назад
Have you tried calibrating it? That usually works for me.
@robynwilliams5928
@robynwilliams5928 День назад
@@Atrus999 yes I’ve calibrated numerous times. And it works for a bit and then gives wonky readings again. But I’m switching from the G6 to the G7 so hopefully that works better. Dexcom sent me a new transmitter(little grey thing) and still got wonky readings. I’d say I get accurate readings about 70 percent of the time with the transmitter I currently have. But I think it is just a bad batch of transmitters. The sensors have never given me a problem, but for the last 3-4 months I’ve had issues with the transmitters.

I just got back from a hiking trip through Utah. I relied on my checklist to make sure I didn't forget anything since we were going to be 8 days in the middle of nowhere. I'm talking no stores, no pharmacy, no wifi or cell service. Remote. Since we wouldn't have a frig and some days would be like 95F and I wouldn't have access to ice or any way to freeze an ice pack, I invested in a little mini frig that ran on a battery pack. Best $150 I think I ever spent. It was light, the same size as a water bottle and fit in the side mesh pocket of my backpack and ran on a portable charger that I had that would last 10 hours - sufficient for all day hiking out in nowhere land. The nights we had access to electricity and could plug the frig directly into an outlet via USB and charge the battery for the next day. Since we wouldn't have access to anything, in case the frig failed, my backup plan was a Frio bag that would have kept it room temp but I really wanted my extra insulin vials to stay frig temp if I could so they would last longer if I didn't end up using them. I didn't end up using the Frio bag. Also since I couldn't rely on where we were going, I took all my diabetes supplies in my carry-on in case my checked bag got lost. It just gave me better peace of mind. It certainly makes a difference if your destination is somewhere you have access to a frig!

@@stephaniegagel1606it's made by Medineed. I found it on Amazon. Insulin Cooler Travel Case, USB...They have some types that are just basically insulated bottles with ice packs, but this one runs on a USB charger and requires no ice packs. Perfect for getting through airport security too.
