Hey Mindy, I am a Mother Baby/Postpartum nurse! I love your videos and have been watching for years! You definitely want to bring more baby socks because they get lost VERY easy and hospitals don't provide them. Also some baby mittens or socks to put over your baby's hands. Mittens fall off of newborns easy, so socks are better and stay on their hands more often that mittens. Newborns come out with long nails and they scratch their face often. That is the thing that I hear the most from women that they wish they would have brought! Definitely bring your own pillows. That is a common thing that hospitals run out of! Blankets are very abundant in the hospital if you need more than one! Hospitals provide Tucks (witch hazel) and Dermoplast but it is recommended to have some at home because you will use them a lot! Hospitals provide the peri bottle but it is quite possible that the store bought one will be better, as the ones that hospitals provide are very cheaply made. The lactation nurse or postpartum nurse will assess you to determine if you need a nipple shield, it actually can affect the baby's latch and are only recommended in certain situations. Hope this helps!

You might want to take an extra blanket for you to wrap up the baby, then if Larry comes home, he can bring it and let your Cats smell the baby's scent. I can't wait for you to have him. I'm so happy for you both.💙

Mindy this is your journey not anyone else’s you bring what would make you feel safe and complete. It doesn’t matter if it’s too much. This is your first time. Whatever you feel good about bringing is good enough. There is no right or wrong way to do this. Whatever makes you feel most comfortable for this journey… your doing good. Be careful asking people for opinions because that can also bring out the mommy trolls who think their way is the only way ajs then your given 10.0000 opinions which is stressful. Just do what you feel makes you good. Your baby bag is packed wonderfully. Your doing a great job!!’

Hey Mindy! I had a baby last year and one big recommendation I heard of beforehand was to get an extra long (10-ish foot) phone charging cord. This was a lifesaver for me because the hospital outlets were in the most inconvenient places. It was nice to have my phone charged and nearby to stay in contact with family and friends during labor and after baby was born. 😊

The L. Organic Cotton maxi extra long pads were my favorite postpartum pads. The hospital will give you mattress size pads, and you can ALWAYS take some home. Grab some, because you might still be bleeding really heavily a few days at home. The tucks pads were great! And get the spray. Even if they give you one, get one. If you tear you will be so happy you have an extra one.
@dee20221
@dee20221 2 года назад
I've always heard to skip the pads and just get some adult diapers. I think that's what I'll try! Also, don't feel bad for bringing make up, I am definitely bringing some because it helps me feel put together and it's a little self care in my opinion 😊

You will not regret bringing your pillows, blanket & boppy. Great idea. It also makes you feel “at home”. It won’t get messy during labor- the nurses will likely set the blanket aside when it’s go time.

Mindy!! It brought such a smile to my face to see the swaddle & hat in baby’s bag. I am so glad you like it and I brought a set for my own daughter last year that I used in her announcement photos 🥰 My hospital must haves: pillow/blanket, EXTRA LONG phone charger cord (cheap on Amazon so if I lost it I wasn’t upset lol), comfortable robe for after birth , my own toiletries (nothing can beat that first shower), my extra large water bottle. I like the Cora/Rael pads from Target, both are made from organic cotton and fragrance free. Buy the extra bottle of Dermaplast and Tucks. Put the Tucks in the fridge to be extra cooling!

Can I ask you something? Have you and Larry taken Lamas classes for the delivery? It’s so helpful. Also make sure you and Larry sit and talk about postpartum and signs of postpartum depression after baby is born it’s very natural for that to happen but it’s still important to talk about with Larry and be prepared. I had it with all 3 of my boys and knowing ahead of time was helpful.

I definitely agree Mindy should research Lamaze techniques if she hasn’t already! It’s soo crazy how much information is out there, it can be overwhelming! Im on kiddo #2 due in 3 weeks and this time around I learned about Lamaze and other great info. First time around I focused on baby development/milestones, infant care, feeding cues, and postpartum care/ppd. This time around Im focusing on the actual child birth/lamaze techniques, breastfeeding,and postpartum/ppd!

Bring flip flops for the shower! For pads, Rael has postpartum underwear. Target carries them. Unscented and Organic. I'm extremely picky with clean products and these were awesome. Also, L organic has great huge pads for postpartum too!! Silverettes are worth every penny for nipple pain when you're adjusting!

Good morning! Tucks are great and the spray. Hospital provided both but you might want more at home. Also, I preferred the depends over pads. It helped to not worry about leaks and was so much more comfortable. The pads that have an ice pack built in are life saving! I think freida mom makes their own now

You did awesome packing! I would add mittens for baby or extra socks. Extra socks for Larry. And then i would put in an extra bag like a grocery bag a reusable one or two reg ones to carry all the stuff you get from the hospital plus any gifts people bring you if you have a longer stay. oh and snacks just in case. For pads and postpartum stuff, the hospital provides what you need and extra to take home if you ask. I was super prepped for vaginal but needed csection. So if you buy stuff, wait to open and use the hospital stuff while there. that way you can return it if you dont need it. oh and still bring the hospital peri bottle home for your second bathroom. I thought the hospital pillows and blankets were fine. Maybe if you bring them leave them in the car and only bring them up if you decide you want to use them so you dont have to wash them if you dont use them. A lot of mamas reccommended adult diapers for vaginal recovery but you just need regular pads for csection. i liked the always brand.

Hey Mindy everything looks fab! So excited for you!! Just to add in the babies bag definitely pack scratch mittens as baby will scratch their face and can be born with long nails! A loose blanket for baby for the journey home to cover them with as well. Muslin cloths are a godsend with babies I brought just a couple in my hospital bag and I still use them daily to this day for any spillages, accidents, wiping babies face, a blanket, lay it on top of the changing mat as my baby found the mat too cold - they’re so useful! For you an extra long phone charger as the plugs aren’t within reach and can be a bit frustrating to charge phones! Also 💯 bring a spare carrier bag for dirty laundry! After 4 days in the hospital that’s one thing I appreciated being able to separate my clean and dirty clothes Good luck with everything you will be amazing 💖💖

FTM here also, a few weeks behind you! You may already have this in your purse/ wallet but make sure you bring your insurance card and any necessary paperwork you will need for hospital billing, and a pen for filling out birth certificate info/hospital paperwork. They probably have pens obviously, but just in case. You may also want to bring a small notebook to have someone take notes while you labor, if you play music during birth write down what song he was born to, what time he was born, the first thing that was said to him when he was born….just sentimental stuff you may want to remember later on. 💙

4th time mama here - my only additional suggestions for baby(not essential but Ive used both) is Vaseline to put on baby’s bottom after they are born. It helps for easy clean up with those first sticky poops. I also bring a small travel container of unscented baby soap. For baby’s bath in the hospital they use J&J regular baby wash. If you have any preferences for a more gentle wash (I noticed because you use unscented baby wipes) then this could also be helpful!

Yes, yes, yes, with the pillow and blanket! I recommend making sure you have some of the sleep gowns that are open at the bottom, those are a godsend especially for those middle of the night struggles trying to get squirmy legs back into the legs of a zip onesie…..not necessarily for the hospital but for home. Also take your own pads that you’re most comfortable with, I hated the hospital ones. I also took underwear and put them over the top of the ones from the hospital (sounds weird I know but I felt like it gave me more solid support).

You are good to go girl. For the pads… Depends is a life saver. Also, I know you are having a boy, but baby nightgowns for easy access to change diapers during the night. Just slide it up and it’s so easy. Not sure if you packed any snacks for after labor, but I highly recommend snacks, just in case you deliver through early morning. I did pack a bunch of baby shirts the ones that snap on the side and I used all of them. I also bought a summer maxi dress to go home in. I delivered all 3 of my babies in FL and it was so hot, so a dress really helped. Everyone’s hospital journey and needs is different so bring what ever you feel comfortable with even if you feel like you overpacked. So excited for you 😊🥰

So I’m a super minimalist when it comes to packing. I brought home a going home outfit for the baby. The hospital provided everything else that we needed (note I have 3 daughters ranging from 11 to 1 1/2). As to mine and my husbands stuff, we brought our bathroom things and clothes (including jammies), a few snacks and needed technology. I did not bring blankets or pillows from home. I just can’t bring so much stuff. Everything you bring up there, you have to bring home so I like to pack the least possible.

Haven’t ever been pregnant myself but I’m hospitalized about every month for anywhere from 1-2 weeks at a time, and I don’t think it’s necessary to bring your own pillows/blankets. If you’re cold, you can change the temp in your room and if you’re still cold, simply ask the staff for a extra couple of blankets. They are awesome and are usually more than willing to give you them. That goes for pillows too. Been with you since before you guys were even trying and I’m so happy for you and excited to ‘meet’ this little bundle of joy!

Fun video! You're absolutely glowing. My 1st baby my husband and I were in a park walking when my water broke and we went directly to the hospital. Luckily, I had my purse with my insurance card and the car seat was already in the car. Those were the only 2 things that were really needed. Because we were getting by with hospital items, my husband decided not to go back home to get our packed bags 😅

Hey girl !! So excited for you!!! Just a idea! You never know when baby will come and how much make up you’ll have on. I highly suggest make up wipes! Plus they’re super refreshing after delivery if you can’t hop in the shower immediately! Love you guys ♥️

Girl! Get the tucks and the blast!! You’ll definitely need them! Take what ever the hospital gives you. But you always want to have extra. I personally preferred the thick pads because I would freeze them. You will feel so sore down there that anything cooling will help. I noticed that I over packed and have a system down next time. Also take flip flops to shower. Oh yeah I definitely recommend your own blanket at least. If you get the epidural you’ll want to feel warm. And those blankets they have weren’t enough. I’m so excited for you!!! 😊

I'm in the process of figuring out what to bring in my hospital bag and some things I've written down from research are sound machine/app (help baby stay asleep with nurses in and out), snack/drinks (incase cafeteria is closed), baby nail clippers, a clip on fan of some sort for labor, a plastic comb (labor pain management tool, seriously google it!) and mint gum to chew right after birth to help get your digestive system moving to avoid constipation. None of those things were in my first hospital bag but im definitely bringing them this time around!

I love being able to watch your pregnancy journey! I’ve seen other post this, but I would bring a light blanket for baby for the way home. Also hand mittens. I would probably bring another shirt for Larry just to be on the safe side. And maybe comfy pair of Jammie’s for you. I bought a set from target (shorts and shirt) and it was so nice to wear after my shower. I used always discrete underwear when I got home. I found it to be more comfortable than the hospital underwear. As for the spray/pads they will give you that stuff when you go home. Sending you all love! ♥️

Hey! So as far as pads definitely go with the Always Discreet or even Depend brand. They are wonderful. I had a C-Section and the Depends were amazing.

In my opinion the boppy pillow is a necessity because it’s for comfort especially when your up all night with the baby. I brought my body boppy pregnancy pillow to use during breastfeeding and sleeping for back support / or to elevate my legs. The other favorite items were Frida brand. I don’t even bother packing underwear. Those always discreet adult diapers are comfortable and convenient to discard frequently which also helps to heal faster / keeping you clean. They make unscented ones but def prefer those over the hospital pads.

I had my first at 19 years old, we couldn't afford a lot so there were many things I wished I was able to take with me to the hospital whether it be for comfort or necessity. Fast forward 8 years and I'm now due with my second boy Aug 3 and I am taking whatever I think might bring me comfort or may make my hospital stay a little more enjoyable. That would be my advice to you! Take whatever you want or feel you may need. It's okay if you bring things and don't end up using them and sometimes the little things make all the difference in your experience. Good luck!!

Yes girly, get all the lady items for when you are home! I’m pretty sure there are some really good videos on “padcicles” I think Milena Ciciotti was talking about it recently 💕

As a mom and professional patient due to medical issues, YES!! to blankets and pillows from home. Otherwise pack light on baby items and personal clothes. When I went home after my daughter I had been in hospital over 3 months. The amount of stuff I had was insane. But still, you want to be comfortable but you don’t need a lot in terms of clothes. Good luck.
