In my first 'what's in my medical school bag' I was a second year medical school student. This time around, I'm a third year medical school student so the contents of my bag are different. Third year and forth year of medical school are the clinical years--which means I am in the hospital most of the time so that means the content and bag itself is entirely different!

I've been using the Tom Bihn Pilot for a couple years. It won't fit as much stuff as you are carrying now, but it also doesn't hurt my shoulders when I'm running around with it. Straps are amazingly comfortable, it's stylish and sturdy, and the water bottle compartment has a hole to drain any liquid that might spill in the bag. Check it out, it's fantastic. Plus the hand strap makes it a sweet briefcase.

I'd definitely recommend the Longchamp Le pliage bag or the Tory Burch Perry Tote (if you're looking for something a bit more fancy). Both of them are really light and fit loads of stuff!

Hi! I have the 15" Dagne Dover too (as well as their Mini Tote and Tiny Tote), and while I love all my Dagne Dover bags, I found the 15" a little too heavy for my daily work bag once it was loaded up. I bought The O.M.G. from Lo & Sons a couple months ago and I finally feel like it's my perfect bag. It's nylon so it doesn't have the added weight of the Dagne Dover and it has tons of pockets and organization. I also love that the back pocket unzips so it can be used on my wheeled luggage when I travel. Ever since I purchased it I haven't even looked at any other bags -- which is crazy because I'm a bag addict. In fact, I've even collected a bin of my other purses to sell because I know I'll never use them again since I found what I was looking for in the O.M.G. Also, I'm not sure it's something you'd need, but I bought The Pearl by Lo & Sons and I keep it inside my O.M.G. every day for when I need to go into a store or something and don't want to carry my whole big bag in. if you're looking around for a new bag I would recommend Lo & Sons Seville 15". The bag itself is pretty lightweight and can also hold a lot of things. one nice thing about the bag is that it comes with a shell so if you want to switch the color of the bag, you can purchase a different shell rather then a new bag.

I also carry a lot of things, but I use a targus backpack for work since backpacks are easier on my back. targus makes some pretty stylish and practical backpacks imo so you might want to look into them

For a nice lightweight bag i recommend the longchamp bag retails for about $110 i think but it really is a great bag and you would get soooo many uses from it it is totally worth the money it is made out a nylon material as well so easy cleanup

Hi Jamie! I love your videos! They are the only thing that keeps me from taking a nap or not studying for the day. I'm about to take my NAPLEX (pharmacy boards) in a couple of days and I have been binge watching all your videos. They inspire me so much! I stayed at the library the other day until 8pm to study and I kept on thinking about the vid where you showed us your study cubicle at school and all I could think about was how much I wish the library would let me eat ramen noodles on their cubicles too lol BTW I went to a Korean market and tried a bunch of snacks coz goodness knows how I need food while studying. Fave pens are the Staedtler triplus fineliner like the one you use, index cards, Quizlet app on my Phone, post it flags and coffee coffee coffee!

I like Henri Bendel jetsetter backpacks. The large ones can fit a lot of stuff, they're great for travel. Water resistant and comfortable. My favorite aspect about them is that you can use them as backpack or remove the straps and use as a normal purse. They have many fun colors and look fancy :)

Where did you put that bag? As a medstudent, I never wanted to leave a bag unattended in the nursing station or resident lounge. So I ended up stuffing my many white coat pockets, mostly with food. That clipboard still remains the single best investment I made in medschool since I'm still using it as a resident. I'd also recommend the mgh pocket notebook when medicine rotation starts.

I also suggest that since you have an Ipad you can get your textbooks in electronic version and carry them in your Ipad. I use a Samsung tablet since I prefer android and PC to apple but I carry the electronic version of all my textbooks in it and I have a virtual library of several hundred textbooks and reference books. It cuts down on the weight of my bag and also allows me to have any reference book I need at any given moment. I started doing it on the suggestion of one of the doctors I worked with while in nursing school because she saw me lugging my Nursing drug reference book around along with another reference book and needing others that simply did not fit in my bag. She told me to use the tablet I had with all of them and simply go into the break room when I needed to use it so I wasn't on my tablet or phone while on the floor. It's worked out really well and also many of the books both nurses and doctors use now come with apps for your phone which also helps with studying while on shift

Your stethoscope is so fricken cute! I'm a first year - undergrad and as a high school graduation gift I was given a bedazzled stethoscope my dad said "Children like sparkly things so here's something to get them to like you."(I want to be a Pediatric Neurosurgeon). Especially since I lose stuff extremely often a customized stethoscope was needed, now I keep up with it so well.

A good Kipling bag works swell for me now. I use their diaper bag line for the compartments lol. I'm a personal chef and carrying my knife roll, recipes, aprons etc it's makes it easy and looks professional; yet fun with the lil gorilla 🦍😺✌🏾

If you are looking for a new bag, I would suggest getting one from Matt and Nat. It's vegan and their styles are really simple. In your case I would suggest the Clarke bag since you want a more professional bag

The long champ le pliage is and awesome bag for business casual. It is durable and extremely light weight. The down side is that it has only one or two small pockets and it is kinda expensive. If interested it's sold at nordstroms :) Love you videos

I carry one sided like this one too and I'll suggest you to please not take it everyday, cause we have to carry so much stuffs it gets heavy like hell which is not good for the shoulders, you must take the regular backpack kinda bag but something more stylish something denim or leather one which you can also hang it sometimes on one side😉😇

I used to have a bag kind of similar to this one and I know how heavy they can be! I mean, the bag alone was already heavy haha The good part is it will last forever (trust me... F O R E V E R). You could try fake leather, although it will not be so durable.

Um I think you can try the long champ. It's an extremely light bag but it isn't structured and doesn't have that many pockets.

I'm a second year, but this has given me so many ideas for next year! Thank you! I saw someone asked if you could do a video on budget friendly business casual clothes. Agreed, but could you also talk about the shoes? Haha. :) I'm sure we will be on our feet all day, and I have yet to find a pair of shoes/flats that fit the bill for both style and comfort!
