Back from Vegas! I figured I’d give a quick trip/gear report here for anyone interested. - I made one gear change before I left, I swapped the Tripped tech pouch and AER go sling for the Pakt 5L Anywhere Sling. I was a bit concerned with the small size of the AER Sling not being big enough, the change worked out perfectly. The Pakt Sling strap tucks away so I used it as a tech pouch while in transit and unloaded it once I got to our hotel and swapped in my EDC gear. - The suit was in perfect shape when I got there, no wrinkles or issues. This was my second time using this folding technique and both times it was great. - Glad I brought the Reeboks for day to day outside of the events, they were much more comfortable for walking around during the day compared to the wingtip boots. - The Proof Merino T-Shirts I was testing were nice and cool being so thin, but the drape of really thin fabric typically isn’t the most flattering for my body type. YMMV but I figured I’d mention this for anyone in a similar situation. - Leave a comment with any other questions or anything I missed! Hi Josh, enjoyed your packing video and the gear info, particularly the tip about folding a suit to reduce wrinkles. Interesting to learn you are located in Portland (so am I). This week I got back from 5 nights in Hawaii. I packed the lightest I ever went before (Osprey Porter 30L went underneath my airplane seat. I did sink laundry and found the Exoficio Give and Go briefs to air dry quickly. The rest of my outfits were polyester based for quick drying. I brought two sets of footwear: Xero sandals and Xero Aqua shoes.

Glad the backpack load out worked so well! That’s what I use for as many trips as possible, so much easier in a lot of situations when you can make it work. The exofficios are my favorite for sink laundry! Even at home they’re practically dry coming out of the washing machine. Hope you enjoyed the trip, Hawaii seems great!

Since my Navy Military days 1991-1999, I military fold all my laundry still to this day when I travel…it always helps minimize my space for my other things…..and as always, I enjoy your content on your channel….see u in the next one!!

3:53 - I would think about bringing a universal remote for the hotel tvs, the hotels I've been going to lately have all locked me out of changing inputs so it's a lifesaver!

That’s a great idea with the remote! Forgot to put it in my trip notes but I wasn’t able to plug in the Roku, they had the tv mounted and inputs missing and/or blocked.

Hi Josh. Glad to hear you had a good time on your wedding trip. Really enjoy your videos! I would love to hear more about the Aer Go backpack and the tote, especially now that you’ve been using them for some time. Do you think the backpack or tote is roomy enough to take a small clothing cube and toiletries for a short trip if you weren’t taking a lot of tech gear (no laptop for instance)?

Glad you’re liking the videos! The go backpack would be great for a quick overnight I think, if you pack light there’d be plenty of room for a short trip. My wife has been using the tote as her daily work bag so I don’t have as much experience with it, but I think it’s a bit smaller so that might be more tough. I’d definitely go backpack over tote, but probably more of a personal preference situation.

When I travel for work I often land in a similar set up you have here. I will carry my "office" backpack and a roller with most of my clothes. Normally I will wear a pair of trainers I can use to stroll the city and workout while on transit, and a fancier pair on my luggage. Cole Haan does a nice take on a hybrid fancy/street shoes, which is my choice for dress shoes as of late. For entertainment I've also been on a reading spree, sadly more juvenile since I am re-reading comics, but for you since you're on the Apple ecosystem an iPad Mini may do some nice extras to your setup. Although the battery will definitely not outperform a Kindle.

No shame in the comics! I just reread Harry Potter at 33 years old and loved it haha. I’d love to add an iPad to the setup but haven’t been able to justify the cost. I technically have one but it’s from 2014 and after almost a decade it can’t handle most tasks.

Pringle Of Scotland make great leather belts, I have a black one that was my grandad’s which he wore for a long time before it was passed down to me. Or Hugo Boss offers minimal leather belts.

I liked the 72 hr proof shirts. I did order 1 size up. I found I could wear them multiple days without washing them.

Minimal but stylish. I fly on Delta and since 2020 boarding rules I can never get overhead space. I switched to a Topo 30l backpack to store under seat. Good bag not perfect. I always include a microfiber towel for easy access as I might sweat a bit navigating the airports.

Good idea on the towel! I feel your pain with the overhead space debacle, that’s a big reason why I prefer to go backpack only when possible.

I think the taste is a bit more subtle than regular toothpaste so it might not be great for you. Two tablets instead of one might have a similar effect though? It’s an adjustment either way.

Hi there! You mentioned you're on a reading kick and I had a few recommendations. I'd check out the book. "Iron Lake" by William Kent Krueger. It's a murder mystery series surrounding a man named Cork O'Connor who was/is the sheriff in a small town in northern Minnesota.

And…. My next travel is with my wife…. On an Alaskan cruise in August… flying into Seattle from DFW… and it’s 11 days total with 2 days at the end spent in Seattle before flying back to DFW…

The big appeal for me is the e-ink screen for reading so I’d prefer sticking with the normal paper white. If regular screen reading doesn’t bother you though a fire tablet definitely has more functionality.

@@joshfenn Thanks Josh. hey, Just a thought. how about doing a budget priced vid on travel bags and items. I love the vids but I link the items and shudder a bit at the cost. I know you often get what you pay for, but dang.. several hundreds of dollars on some of these packs and $575.00 on one piece of luggage seems steep to me. I would love to see what you have to say about several of the ones offered on Amazon. Love your vids!

@@joshfenn I would watch it! I think that comparing the pros and cons of the different cost level items. Here is why I love this over that... Hey this is a great alternative to that. Save yourself a little dough if you do not need the ease of xyz. I always think of the full open to top load backpacks. Again...Love your stuff Josh.

I actually have and wear them pretty often! I hike exclusively in barefoot shoes and have a pair of xero street shoes I wear to the gym. I’m just not a fan of the aesthetics so I usually go a bit more traditional when going out but am always comfortable in barefoot shoes when style isn’t a concern.

pretty clever strategy for maximising all of your clothes. suggestion- put shoes in a plastic bag, it is not really hygienic, soles of those shoes touch everything form dog shit to garbage on the street so you know... it gets your clothes dirty

Totally agree! I actually have a reusable dirty clothes/shoe bag from Pakt but forgot to grab it before I left.
