I had a number of requests to have a closer look at the accessories that Tamiya is offering on their new Panther ausf. D. There are four in total and this is a brief look at what they consist of.
Thanks for the review Andy. I wish tamiya would release more new kits, I really do. I know they can be pricey hit I can forgive that given have sublime they are to build
+Armour Empire You are very welcome Mark. I think it is a strategy they use in my opinion. Dragon and the other Chinese makers are very prolific and we expect to see lots of releases from them. However, when Tamiya comes out with something the market and modeling press are all a buzz. Take their recent 1/32 Mosquito for example no one knew that was coming.
Excellent review Andy I just bought the new Panther D and all these accessories cant wait to start building this one I am half way through their new Jagdpanzer IV really loving these new Tamiya's
I've just used this set of grills on my ICM Bergepanthet and it's the thinnest pe I have ever seen., which makes it kind of difficult to file or sandpaper off the 3 tags that are attached to each piece. They do look good though. I would use a.n.other next time, if I had a choice.
the PE part is quiet expensive, thx to god my local tamiya store set the price on the one printed on the box/ packaging which was in YEN and will be converted to my local money IDR
+Martin Collmer This engine maintenance set is the one referenced in the instruction sheet. Item no. 35180. It includes the engine for the kit but the model has to be modified slightly for it to fit.
what a mean company Tamiya are. Trying to get more money out of modelers by not including everything in the box.More rip off Tamiya crap. There new Tomcat a 100 euros for a 1 48 kit. It's rare one can build a Tamiya kit out of the box.Always an added cost with Tamiya.
I disagree. I also point out in the video that it will build quite nicely straight from the box. You don't have to purchase the extras its optional. If they included all of them it would cost even more. I also have the new Tomcat and its really more like 75 euro and about the same in the U.S. $75 and its full of plastic a huge box and includes the ordnance not a bad value at all. The Hobby Boss and other high end jet kits in 1/48 cost just as much and many don't come with ordnance.
Tamiya at it again.Trying to rip off their customers by selling a kit and leaving pieces out to make more money. No engine grills and parts of gun not included. How do they get away with this con? Dragon's Panther D, is ten times better. All Tamiya wants is money,They hate selling kits for under 100 quid.Stay well away. They are even putting old kits that are over 25 years old in news box's and trying to sell them as new.
You are entitled to your opinion although I strongly disagree. First off the kit doesn't cost anywhere near "100quid" and you don't have to buy the add on accessories if you don't want to. The model will build nicely right out of the box and Dragon no longer includes many of the accessories they used to. In addition the Dragon is a significantly older tooling and not as accurate or as easy to assemble. Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment.
