Many years ago, my best friend and I went to visit a very cool female friend we had not seen in some time. We arrived at her house and after enthusiastic greetings, she ushered us to the lounge room and offered to make us coffee, which we gratefully accepted. She went into the kitchen and came back a few seconds later, popping an open Tupperware container on the coffee table in front of us, that was brimming with almond and choc chip cookies. Without a word, she then turned and went back into the kitchen to attend to the coffee making, and my friend and I looked at each other with an expression of, "Cool! Biccies!", (derived from the noun, biscuits: what we call cookies in Australia), had one each, (she was a great baker and they were super yummy), and then proceeded to pound our way through another each before reaching for our third. At that point she came back in with a tray of mugs of coffee, placed it on the table then said, "Jesus! How many of those have you had?" "Two each," we happily responded, "they're fantastic!" "Thanks," she said, immediately followed by, "Guys, there's a block and a half of hash in each of those." About 45 minutes later, we were climbing the fucking walls, and much hilarity ensued, especially for her! That, was a really good day! 😁
I wanted to meet randy in Minneapolis so he could sign my randy feltface tattoo. I didn't get the chance and told him about it on Instagram. He DM'd me and said he would be happy to sign it next time he's in my area! Really a decent guy....for being a purple bastard. 😂
Regarding the Attorney General joke: not long before Randy's show, Australia's then-Attorney General, Christian Porter, was accused of raping a woman as a teen. The crime was never prosecuted in large part because the woman died of suicide before the police got around to investigating the allegation.
In all honesty, I’m pretty surprised that you both haven’t reacted to “Smug Druggles” and “Feltopia”. Both shows are extremely funny and have pretty good Crowd Work.
Randy's crowdwork is legendary. When you two go to his show, Hope he picks Dan, if you know, you know. Randy: Hello sir, what's your name? Dan! Randy thinks, I fkn got this 😂
For those curious (copied directly from Wikipedia): Alice Lynne "Lindy" Chamberlain-Creighton (née Murchison; born 4 March 1948) is a New Zealand-born Australian woman who was convicted in one of Australia's most publicised murder trials. Accused of killing her nine-week-old daughter, Azaria, while camping at Uluru in 1980, she maintained that she saw a dingo leave the tent where Azaria was sleeping. The prosecution case was circumstantial and depended on forensic evidence. Chamberlain was convicted on 29 October 1982, and her appeals to the Federal Court of Australia, and High Court of Australia, were dismissed. On 7 February 1986, after the discovery of new evidence - clothing the same as Azaria wore - Chamberlain was released from prison on remission. She and her husband Michael Chamberlain, co-accused, were officially pardoned in 1987, and their convictions were quashed by the Supreme Court of the Northern Territory in 1988. In 1992, the Australian government paid Chamberlain $1.3 million in compensation. In 2012, a fourth coroner's inquest found that Azaria died "as a result of being attacked and taken by a dingo".
If you're a fan of his music he does have more! Before his yt shorts and "writes a novel" he and fellow Australian comedian Sammy J were a comedy duo on the abc with occasional comedic music (much is filled with Aussie jargon and injokes but very enjoyable)
You guys reactions to Randy are just gold! I have loved watching both the full specials with you guys, and I hope you will check out his others as well. And it would be fun if you talked about your experience on his newest special :)
To give you guys context, the Australian Attorney General at that particular time. If its the guy I'm thinking of was Christian Porter... He was involved in several rape accusations that were never proven; he even went on to sue the national broadcaster for even suggesting it. However, many people within his party 'The Conservative Liberal Party' were accused of a cover up. Until this point, Christian Porter was pretty well-liked and admired, thus the... sighs.
On that note...if you ever want a hilarious story about drugged brownie eating gone wrong. Watch Bill Engvall's two-part story "Bill Tries Marijuana" and "The Rest of the Marijuana Story". Will have you crying with laughter.
Not sure if this is the point, but apparently the Australian attorney general at that time, Christian Porter, was being accused of sexual assault, but not charged, which might be the reason for the "invincible" comment. YMMV, this is just what I googled my way to after being confused myself. There are some details on his wikipedia page.
Randy actually left a message on the video of the person who pirated Randy Writes a Novel. He told them that if they made one penny off of it he was coming after them and their pets. It wasn't long after that the video was taken down.
3:43 - Hannah Gadsby isn't a comedian, she just talks on stage. She has never said anything remotely humourous. Her highlight real is just her walking off stage 100 times.
