Ever wondered what is inside of an Official Lacrosse ball? We did and wanted to see. Cutting it open is similar to the quote of "making sausage" It is not the prettiest process. But we cut it open so you don't have to! Hope you enjoy our little experiment.

All those people say God bless goalies, yes I feel you. It hurts a lot to get hit by a shot especially to have to block a ball by any means. However, once I switched from goalie to close D, taking shots I the mid section hurts a hell of a lot when you have tiny defense liners on instead of a goalie chest protector.

I've played lacrosse for a few years, and let me just say I've thrown myself Infront of that type of ball for a national championship. 3 broken ribs from one hit. 3 concussions in total career. "Just a rubber ball"

Any Lacrosse player knows that if you want to find out what's inside a Lacrosse ball, just leave one on the field after practice and find the pieces after the guys have come and mowed the field. Easy.

Ryan Jones Not true, It depends where you are in the country. East coast and North-East primarily it is huge. When I was in school more kids tried out for lacrosse than baseball.

Cutting round objects: get yourself 2 small pieces of pipe that will seat the round (ball), sandwich the ball between them, add small piece of wood to the top pipe, them then clamp down. This will save your hands, fingers and lots of pain. Have fun cutting!

LOL! On your kitchen counter! Man of the house! (for the moment) Appreciate your efforts very much - I am buying two lacross balls to make ball ends for my bar ends on my bike so that I have a nice big rubber ball to rest on when riding casually. And this video helped determine how well this will work when I drill them - solid inside ! Thank again

Maybe cut one of those foam rollers that people use in physical therapy, I would know because I recently hurt my knee and had surgery! My physical therapist and I were talking about a half roller he had and he said maybe they just cut it in half. So you should try it sometime. They are cylinder and usually black.

A lacrosse ball isn't just a rubber ball, it has a small ball bearing that is offset from center to randomize the bouncing of the ball. Every 2-3 bounces it springs forward.

I wonder how a sharp drill bit would work on this thing? I was going to get a bodyworks ball for my back but finding out they are basically a Lacrosse ball with a rope going through it...i'd rather spend a few bucks on a ball and drill it out and put a nylon rope through it rather than 39.95 for the bodyworks ball. Looks pretty solid.

I got a few velocity NCAA spec lacrosse balls lying around and they are heavier than you may have expected. I want to say they are mostly compressed rubber but hurt like hell if you get hit with one playing

There are actually oils inside the ball to keep it bouncy enough. The oils leak out from use and cover the ball in a thin layer of grease which we call greasers that slip in and out of the stick easily deeming them, useless.
