I feel this..everyone gets mad at me because I can't hear them...😔

I’d say for people that are hard of hearing hearing aids are like glasses you need them for something’s and sometimes you choose not to wair

Well shown the difficulties faced of person with hearing problems...

I am hard hearing and the American culture about hard hearing people is Zero. often I will send an email and stress out the fact that i am hard hearing and I cant communicate by phone but only txt or email. And sure enough they will send me an email with the phone number of the person to contact. I got this scenario many times. I think it is easier to be deaf at least people don't assume you can hear. not to mention during pandemic with mask it was impossible to hear anything

It’s not just about ordering in a cafe. It also transfers to other aspects of life. Especially when you have people in your life who don’t comprehend what it’s like to have hard of hearing. What some think how they hear is also how they believe others hear. This gives a great visual aspect of how hard of hearing people hear. Great example and I would love to see more and also about the tone of response/communicating back. Since I also am the same and can’t find any visual video to show why when my deaf ear is not covered if laying on a pillow on the good ear that when you answer any questions asked you will either sound like it’s a whisper or they think you’re angry and yelling at them.

I used to be deaf as a kid , and to this day I am still hard of hearing . This perfectly incapsulates how I feel when in spaces like a cafe . School , stores , restaurants , etc can be hard to properly communicate in . Especially since others can’t see that we have this struggle ! I’ve been called out at school for not paying attention or being disruptive because I can not properly hear the way that others can , please just remember to always be kind to others . 💕

I say, ‘could you repeat that please, as I’m as deaf as a post’ as cheerfully as possible. People are always helpful when they understand, I find.

I have hearing loss in my right ear, recently a co-worker made a rude comment; like I was ignoring someone! I was not ignoring them, I didn't hear them! I had to explain to them my situation; which I don't like to do! I should not have to divulge my personal imperfections!

I'm so ugly that people turn away just not to take my order. What do we do about that?

Then tell it to the people. How should they know that you are hard if hearing? Be your own advocate.

Kinda pointless when everyone is wearing a mask during the pandemic, asking them to take off their mask is bad. So it's a lot easier to use your smartphone with speech-to-text to do the work for you.
