Thank you for bringing back a Ford/Lincoln review. I like your newer stuff, but it's the reviews you did at the dealership that drew me to your channel. Keep it up!
I just showed my father this video before I showed him I was talking him about the new Navigator and now the Continental. And I was talking him how Lincoln is really making a huge mark in the car business. He watched this video than subscribed and then also watched the Navigator review. He's now in love with Lincolns and he was a for hard Chevy guy.
@@MichaelBacon212 show your Dad the Genesis G90. It's more reliable than Lincoln or any other large luxury sedans. Smoother boat ride also. Toyota Avalon is even a much better purchase choice than this Continental. But if it's about looks & wasting money is no issue, then by all means have your Dad get this future electronic mess of a Ford. I understand older guys wanting to buy & stick American, but I care more about my own money than I do being patriotic. And I'm an older guy that wanted to get this Continental but after research it's not for me I don't need a future money pit. Plus, if your Dad doesn't drive & start it EVERY DAY, the battery shut off feature in the Continental will shut the entire car down from the engine starting & it will need a jump start. Not a car for elderly people unless they use it & drive it every day. The G90s & Avalons don't have this garbage electronical feature equipment in them. Interested in what your Dad ended up getting or drives now.
Those seats reminds me of the old Lincoln pillow seat cushion design from the 80's. Man those seats were awesome and comfortable as hell. Glad Lincoln brought them back with a better technology design.
I love the fact that you have actually sold cars. I am a front line car salesman in a stand alone Lincoln dealer in Ft Worth, TX who appreciates your insight. Keep up the good work.
Mike, I liked the review of the Lincoln Continental, and the POV format. If in the market for a luxury car, I would certainly look at the Lincoln based on your review. Ed
If you think this is a great car, check out the Genesis G90 that is far superior in every way & looks just as nice if not better inside & out. If this Continental sits in a elderly person's driveway more than over ONE DAY, it has a "Battery Saver SHUT DOWN" function feature that disables you from starting the engine up, and then it needs a jump start to get running again. Let it sit for 2 days and that is what happens 100%. I called 2 Lincoln Dealerships & talked to 2 different mechanics and they most CONFIRMED this with the car. Sadly I passed on getting me one because of that reason. I don't drive my cars more than 2-3 times a week. I don't need to go out to my car & need a jump start. No thanks. This is why I'll be going with a Genesis G90 or newer Toyota Avalon instead of the Continental. And that is a shame because this is also a very beautiful "looking" car. But imho the G90 looks way better anyways. And even The Avalon is super nice & for sure way more reliable than this electronic filled gadget mess of a Continental will become in the future.
@@WrestlingErnestHemingway Thanks for the info. I never knew about those problems. And actually I had Genesis as 2nd choice. Guess I’ll have to rethink that. 😊
@@WrestlingErnestHemingway That is not true. I left mine parked at the airport garage for 2 weeks, came back and it started right up. It doesnt even make sense what you are saying. I routinely leave the car sitting for 3 or 4 days and starts up with no issue like any other car. Havent done anything except routine scheduled maintenance. If this is true yours must have been defective or something and dealership wanted to just avoid fixing your car under warranty. The Genesis is a garbage car and at the end of the day its still a Hyundai, which doesnt have the luxury look or prestige. This car will turn heads when you pull up somewhere. With the Continental you get the adjustable individual thigh support and the seats are extremely comfortable on long drives. Comparing this to a Hyundai is a joke.
Thank you again - your videos are hands down the best out there - and I love the fact that you stay focused on Fords and Lincoln’s - the POV was great. I can’t say enough awesome things about your channel - keep up the amazing work - my favorite channel on RU-vid by far. 😎
I’m with you I don’t understand why the new Lincoln’s are not more popular. They are more comfortable than their competitors and gives enough pep of an engine...I love the Lincoln brand and my overall favorite in the $60k and under vehicles
For decades, Lincoln offered nothing more than rebadged fords and they suffered from quality issues. I bought a new continental in 1992. Turned in back in in 2 years...a lemon. Hope these are better
These Continentals won't be any better sadly. They just "look" super nice is all. The Genesis G90 is far superior in every way. The Toyota Avalon is much more reliable luxury purchase than this Continental. This is all about "looks" and nothing else but gadgets & future electrical problems down the road.
I love your POV videos! Please make more in the nighttime, they are very soothing to watch especially when you're only saying a few things. Your Toyota 4Runner one was very good :)
Awesome review. I’ve driven my grandmother’s 2017 Lincoln MKZ on multiple occasions (although it’s not a Black Label) and it is truly a car I could aspire to one day owning. That 3.0L twin turbo is one hell of a good time, and I completely agree with what you said about the 400HP/torque making you forget all about the size and sheer weight of the car. I’d love it if you could reply or even make a video touching on some of the main differences between the MKZ and continental (I hope you’re getting into Lincoln if you aren’t already, I also saw your new Navigator video and really enjoyed it.
I bet the Continental would make a comfortable daily driver. Now, not that you should make another full review video (because it's pretty much the same as the 2017 year model), you should give the MKZ another drive in to see if that would make a good daily driver for you. Although I will admit the Audi S4 is a really nice looking car, it does cost more, meaning more stress on you. But the upside to an Audi S4 is that it would probably pull more veiwers than a Lincoln.
Interesting how autovlog/mike will only “like/love” a comment if it is complementary to him. He clearly reviews ford products for reimbursement. This subscriber is not being sucked into your ford show. Mark my words everyone - Mike buys a ford product in place of the fusion. Guaranteed.
I like the looks of the Continental. There seems like having the gear shifting buttons in the same display as the radio might cause an issue. Changing a station while not looking at the dial might lead to a change of gears as opposed to radio stations. Do they have a safeguard to prevent such a potentially critical mistake?
with all the brands they have, they should really have a high end luxury one. Either improve their GMC brand, or hey why not give Buick one hell of a make over
Buy them while you can. Lincoln will be the next luxo company that will be discontinuing models. Sedans are not selling in general and their numbers are nowhere near what they projected.
@@Grievance_Studies_Affair_2018 I have a 2009 DTS. Have rented a CT6 a better driver's car because its RWD but the my pops has Lincoln Continental 3.0tt, is a better all around car. USA ALL DAY.
Good review. Did you have the camera on your head? Noticed that it was a bit jerky. How about some reviews of Chevy full size trucks like the Tahoe RST 6.2L...
The only thing I don't really care for is that they put the transmission buttons right next to the screen. It makes it look like it is part of the infotainment system. You're driving along and your passenger goes to change the radio station and presses 'R' thinking that it is somehow connected to the screen. The layout on the MKZ is much better.
It was me that honked at you yesterday while you were reviewing this car. At least that's my guess it was another white car. Hope I didn't ruin your audio lol just wanted to say hi from a local subscriber
Hey mike, this car looks really cool something to consider for the future but I was wondering could you do something similar to this video with a Genesis G80 Sport or any of the models for that matter if you can get you hands on one!
It would be nice to see you do a highway and city test loop to evaluate the mpg of those vehicles you review. You mentioned the mpg in this video, but mentioned that you had been heavy on the pedal often. So, maybe you could add that real world highway/city mpg for all of us followers of your channel. Keep up the great videos and thanks for listening and seeking out opinions from your followers.
First and foremost are the A and C pillar drain tube system fixed yet because every MKS out there leaked into the a-pillars and the head liner.... They always seem to be clogged with pine needles.... I've worked on 247 of them......
I like your opinion on this driving dynamic! And I enjoy your soothing voice, you should look into some voice jobs as well, food for thought as a alternative career move? 😉
is nice cari believe the AWD version is 5500 lbs. yes 400 hp sweet smooth beautiful car reclining rear seats etc. love the comparison to the Taurus i have the SHO minus the upscale extras i will take my SHO and buy two of them for that one. continental. definitely a beautiful car the MKZ is nice but i really dislike the sloped window in the MKZ in the back still a nice car.
Jarrod Walden they can’t release everything at once that’s just not how businesses work you gotta wait and save some stuff while you come up with new ideas so if they don’t have anything next year theyre probably going to shove the 5.0 engine in that thing
Jose Ochoa thanks tips. Meanwhile the likes of gsf, m5 and e63 steal this share of the marketplace, if they want to be competitive in this business you have to be on the cusp performance and luxury. Correct me if I’m wrong but the original continental was v8 rear drive based. So that’s a fail on their part right there. Their black label series should be there amg, m series or f series as it were. This is nothing more than a glorified Buick! Lol
As a elderly guy who doesn't drive every day, I became VERY SKPTICAL & WEARY of considering these newer Continentals because of the fact it has a "Battery Saver Shut Off" feature I found out after extensive research of problems & complaints with this last generation of these Continentals. Mostly complaints from elderly people that bought them. With the "Battery Save SHUT DOWN" it means, if it sits longer than1 -2 DAYS not being start up in your driveway or driven, the ENTIRE CAR SHUTS DOWN & you will need to jump start it. I confirmed this with a Lincoln Service Dept. Rep & this is 100% true. Being an elderly gentleman, I DO NOT drive my car everyday & have no intentions to. I drive maybe 2-3 times a week at most. So, SADLY because of the "battery Saver Shut Off" feature installed in these, this car sadly became off my list of potential used cars to look at & consider buying. And that is a shame because it truly is a beautiful car & I wanted to buy American. I think I will go with a used low mileage Genesis G90 instead or the last yr model Toyota Avalon. Otherwise this is a beautiful "looking" car never the less.
Hello, your review was awesome, I felt like I was driving the car myself, I worked as an Engineer for Ford in 2000, and the Lincoln back then was an ugly Boat, but the best luxury ride I have ever been in this is including the German cars. However, at the age of 54, I am in the market for a new car, I am coming from an Audi S5, but I want my next car to be a luxury one
Genesis G90 is the way to go. That or a Toyota Avalon. These newer Continentals have a "Battery Saver Shut Down" function feature that will disable the engine start up after it sitting more than 2 days in a driveway & it will need a jump start. B$ feature that stupid Lincoln put in these. Smh.
I know my next vehicle will be a Lincoln, I just can't decide between this or the MKZ hybrid 😫 the efficiency is great, but the level of luxury between the two models just doesn't compare
