Join me as I complete part 2 of my walk along the former Great Central Railway between Leicester and Lutterworth. This seldomly seen section of the track shows just what happens after over 50 years of closure.
There is things that have been left behind but every year they get slightly more damaged and slowly they will disappear completely. This is a record of what's there now.
Part 1 is also on the channel and if you follow the link to the playlist you can watch the multitude of videos I have done along this once great railway.

Those were the days I used to get stung on a regular basis or attacked by thorns. It became a trend 🤣

Great find the bridge, there are some great pictures of the M1 running by the side of the GCR with trains running past a deserted M1.

Thanks for watching. I love that bridge although I don't think it has long left. I wish the m1 was still deserted!

Great video as always from you 👍 Can always remember would have been in the very late 1970's driving along the M1 past this section and being fascinated by it . Amazing how it has stood the test of time , guess there is no real reason to touch it .

Thank you and thanks for watching. It has stood up remarkably well considering it's been left to slowly decay. Although now completely gone running up to Lutterworth. I am sure it used to be a much grander sight.

@@MiddyExplores Always a please to watch your content . Always remember the image of ( I think ) Ashby Magna station with the new M1 behind . Another nail in the GCR's coffin .

When we get a decent weekend of weather I'll take a look at the post along the GCR Ashlawn estate in Rugby along the field itself. Because when I was younger I remember the cabling in sections was still attached to the posts. I'll film it if it's still intact ? I'm talking over 40 years ago but you never know 🤞

The fence posts were a great find, not seen those on any other explores. The bridge with missing parapet was still a beauty, but seems to be in much worse condition than any I've seen before. Looks like a fair bit of vandalism along with the fly-tipping sadly.

Thanks for watching. The rubbish seems to come off the M1 which is very close! The bridge I think is a combination of vandalism and natural decay. The trees have caused so much damage. The fence posts were worth the walk on their own!!

Fun fact. GCR london extension will very soon have been closed for as long as it was open.

Very interesting and sad. I visited Woodford Halse about three weeks back and it is getting the same there. The deep cuttings at South Junction towards West Junction and to the station site is becoming as heavily over grown as on this walk and will probably become completely filled with trees and bushes that the next generation will not even know it is there if not told about it..

Thank you for watching. I am on a bit of a mission to record as much as I can of the gcr before it disappears completely! My video of calvert station was the last before the bulldozer moved in and I keep trying to record all the events!)it won't be long before it disappears completely.
