In today's vlog we head to Disney World's EPCOT for a look at the all new World Celebration area of the park! I LOVED Illuminations and just watching Luminous on video, I started crying! I love it!!! The storyline and the big message that it is telling is what really pulls on my heart strings. The part about loss was beautiful. Wow. This feels like old Epcot to me and an excellent tribute to the once great Illuminations. Harmonious was good too but I feel like it missed the heart mark as far as Epcot goes. Can’t wait to see Luminous in person!!!

Listen, here's my thing. I like traditional Epcot. I loved IllumiNations. Nothing will beat perfection. I did not like Harmonoius. But I enjoyed Epcot Forever. Luminous surprised me though. I think it had a good enough balance between originality and IP. I understand the complaints with it being too "boring" or "story-driven", but here's the thing. Epcot IS a story. Disney is a company that champions story with everything they do. Harmonious had no story. Like you said, it was a "party." Doesn't Epcot deserve something more meaningful than a "party"? The story driven concepts and messages of IllumiNations and Luminous are what make Epcot fireworks especially unique, rather than capping off your day with a mash-up of Disney songs after you just blew over a hundred bucks to drink around the world. Epcot is special and is unique, and I think Luminous strikes a good balance between story, originality, and IP's, sending you off with a thoughtful message. Idk, just my thoughts.

Oh, wow. All the new seating! Yes! It was one of the few things about Epcot that I complained about. Not enough places to just sit and rest the feet for a few minutes. Have a drink to cool off. I also loved the new firework show. It was a fireworks show, not projection driven. I love old fashioned fireworks to music. The fountains and lasers enhance it, but you could watch it without., Love love love the new area. Thanks so much, Tim, for bringing us along!

Your explanation of Luminous resonated with me. Great well-thought-out explanation. I felt the same about it and for similar reasons as what you described, the show kind of fell flat for me, even after watching it a few times. It's still an overall good show with beautiful fireworks and the show did hit some high notes as well, and an overall good addition to the park.

I think Luminous is the best Epcot show since Illuminations. They really nailed it. A fantastic pyro, lighting, and water design, with the perfect story about human connection. The IP songs are re-orchestrated in a way that doesn’t feel like they are out of place or being shoved in our faces. And the best finale since Illuminations. Bravo Disney!

I think the new area looked really cool at night but kinda lame during the day. I'm also wondering why the area was closed for so long when all they did was put in tables and planters

from my personal points, it’s a nice show! it’s not perfect, but pretty good, like a 7/10. now, i LOVED the first part of the intro, the greetings. that was awesome. i love the coco and aladdin section as well. however, the middle parts besides coco/aladdin needed more fireworks, and kinda felt sad not sure why. loved the finale and pyro overall, just wish the finale fireworks her more color but that’s just a preference still great. Overall I would watch, just wish the middle part had new/more songs and fireworks.

I’m old school EPCOT. Love Illuminations and Epcot Forever. I was not digging the music in Luminous at all. I personally thought the Luminous music was mundane. Will be skipping going forward. But that’s ok. WDW has tons to offer for all different tastes :)

Thanks Tim! I love(d) Illuminations and not a big fan of Harmonious. However, the music, for me, didn’t keep up with the fireworks show. Just sounded and felt like music for a funeral 😮. Sad and depressing really. Never got that feeling with Illuminations. Sorry to everyone who likes the new score, but wow. Might stick the ear buds in and listen to Illuminations while I’m watching Luminous 😂 A wonderful holiday season to everyone!!

I was a big fan of Harmonious! It was a great show and music, and created a high energy atmosphere each night. Luminous seems a bit of a let down to me. The opening and closing numbers are good. But the middle section songs are just too slow. I am really going to miss Harmonious

I was there that night too. I absolutely love the new area. It's so beautiful at night! As far as Luminous I have very similar feelings as you. I absolutely loved Harmonious and the music for it. I fell like I have to see Luminous a few more times to see how I feel about it. But, I thought the barges looked small from where I was watching from as well. I was watching from Germany and thought that next time I want to watch it from the UK to see if it looked closer. I was there a bit earlier in the day to take a picture with Walt's statue and I saw that Nick was in line a little ways behind me...I didn't get to say hello though. But, my goodness I will sit in that new area and just take in all the beautiful sights, music and lights...I really, really love it. Huge hugs and love to you guys xoxo

Well if u ever come to paisley in Scotland head to jam jar, Italian bar restaurant. Does a pizza/ pasta deal, and the best cocktails. We stick to the parks when in Orlando and since most of the restaurants serve similar food. But for fun we always do breakfast at chef Mickey’s. Used to love teppan edo until we had a bad experience there. Put me right off.

I was waiting to see your opinion! I love the new area, as a local who already spends a lot of time in Epcot I LOVE having new seating, the small nods to old Epcot (like innovations & the hidden map behind Walt) were so great. The lights in the ground gave me old fiberobtic vibes & I LOVE the new music. I liked LuminoUS but I didn’t love it. I found all the narration to be a lil annoying & disruptive. But as a pyro person the show was incredible, very loud & proud with the fireworks. I think frozen into Tangled was the best part. Also the nod to Figgy in the beginning & end 💜 Also It was nice running into you & Nick again, sorry if I interrupted your plans while I chatted with Nick lol

With the statue at MK you can take a picture without anybody in front of it. Here Walt is sitting down so there is always somebody next or in front of him, so hard to take a picture. During the fireworks i was in front of the tree also a good spot.

as a local I do like some of what world celebration offers its very pretty etc, however the elements factor for me its missing a fountain in that area. also I am a Harmonious lover & wish that would have hung around a lot longer, so for me (yes I was there on Dec 5th also to see the show) I was in Italy its wasn't that crowded back there. I didn't like as much. The Fireworks are cool and some of the effects are cool the stories I can do without. Cool vlog Tim thanks

I was a Harmonious lover, this feels a little boring to me, but still beautiful, just that I love music focused shows, especially upbeat dancy shows. It’s good to have variety though 💜

I like story based nighttime spectaculars (like Fantasmic, Wishes…) but that felt like it had way too much narration, and it did feel super small. I’m sure they feel like they can’t win between the complaints about the barges when they were really large, and now they are too small lol. I appreciated the use of less used songs around the park, like music from Enchanted and Toy Story.

Hey Tim, I watched Iluminous that same night and I 100% agree with what you said. I love HEA and I also loved Harmonious and this show definitely fell flat for me - I definitely sing along and dance/bop away so I didn’t really care for the story telling and I think HEA and Harmonious just have more Disney songs so you can join in. I did feel that it got better and I did enjoy the last 5 mins or so…( probably because of the fireworks) so it wasn’t a complete let down but I left feeling like I wouldn’t be rushing to see it again 😕

Love the new area wish they had worked a fountain in, did not like the nighttime show. All it was was a bunch of fireworks and lasers. Just didn’t get it.. thanks for the videos!!!

I was there the first night. It was draggy. The fountains were beautiful. I will not rush to see it again. In my opinion, it needed more upbeat numbers. It was preachy to me. Some people will love it. Just not my favorite.

I like this show, it’s supposed to be different from happily ever after, it reminded me of Tapestry of Nations a bit. I’d like it even better if it was a having Greenaway soundtrack with no IP music.

From what I saw from the video and what I felt, I liked it. I use to sing the Tarzan song to my daughter all the time when she was a baby. I had a few moments of tears too. Very touching. Definitely all about life and growing up, Jessie's song from Toy Story gets me everytime. Wow! Can't wait to see it in person.

The Walt statue looks cool, life like in deed😊 The night tine views and lights, Spaceship Earth, the lights on ground, oh it was so Magical. I hope to see this next time down there in 2025. A water fountain would have put it to the top, but it is still very beautiful. The new Fireworks, water wirh lasers, was Spectacular. The songs were Heartfelt, not as exciting as Harmonious was to me, but still great Fireworks show. I only been to Disney World 3 times in my 40 years, but hope to go as much as i can, when money is possible. We plan to go in 2025, for Christmas time for tge first time. We only been in summer time so far. Anyway, I think life is a blessing if you think positively, and Disney parks and Disney movies just makes this poor country girls heart full of wonder. My disabilities get in my way sometimes, but i still try to find fun in life, even its just watching RU-vid 😊 Thanks for all you give us. I think EPCOT is wonderful, especially at night, beautiful magical.

I wasn’t blown away by the fireworks…I felt it needed more color and energy, just my opinion… but it was a letdown. I’m very glad I saw it and would watch it again, just not my favorite.

I'm not paying thousands of dollars to sit on a park bench. I hate the new changes to epcot with a passion. Why didn't they use the space for attractions? They could have easily put a version on adventure through innerspace in the area.

Hey! Loved your video. I have to say as a fan of every nighttime spectacular that has ever been produced at Epcot (IllumiNations, IllumiNations 25A and 25B, IllumiNations 98, IllumiNations Reflections of Earth, and Epcot Forever) prior to Harmonious, I absolutely hated Luminous. I fully admit the technology of both shows was and is incredible. What the creative team did in Harmonious and is doing with Luminous from a tech perspective is second to none. That said, I have to disagree with you on the story driven fireworks comment. HEA and ROE both tell stories without telling you the story. They take you on a journey through the music and show elements. Harmonious lacked any story arc at all and failed to connect with the audience at large. That said, I was a huge fan of the actual music from the show and like the potential of the concept, I just feel the execution failed. Oh and the barges were a a disaster. That said, the story arc is so weak in Luminous they have to have a narrator chime in constantly to tell you what you’re experiencing, a first for a Disney nighttime spectacular. In my opinion, bar none, it is the worst nighttime show in Disney park’s history and with respect, comparing it in any way to ROE is just plain wrong. It’s not even close to being in the same league. 😊

We went Sunday night, aside from the rain, a great night. I think the fireworks show is great, I'm not sure the fountains are worth it, and I don't care for the story or the fact that they are using movie music, I don't think it connects with EPCOT. The gardens are nice but I'm not sure how many people will be happy paying $150 for a park pass to sit on a bench in front of a flower garden.
