What's new in ChromeOS (Google I/O ‘24) 

This was cool. Google please. Bring back the Pixelbook Go with a laptop tier Tensor chip.

ChromeOS is finally in a state that I’d be perfectly comfortable using as my primary system, but the hardware is just not up to par. We need more high end options. Would love a revival of the Pixelbook on these new Qualcomm chips.

10 year support life is great, I love chromeos - but across 10 years these device will go thru 1 or more batteries. Not confident manufactuers make batteries easily replaceable. Same for emmc vs nvme - emmc limited life.

I'm surprised Google keeps making more Pixelbooks. They could do well if they included OLED displays and their latest Tensor chips and AI features. But Google tends to overprice their Chromebooks. They should offer both a standard and a flagship model. A new Chromebook priced around $500 seems reasonable, not $1500.

I love the idea of chromebook plus. Since i got my thinkpad 13 chrome book in 2017, the android playstore and linux integration into chrome os has increased the functionality of the system so much.

When will Google License ChromeOS the way Microsoft does for Windows? The current Chromebooks don't have the Specs I'm comfortable with, plus I want a Custom PC utilizing not only High End Hardware but Peripherals and its own Monitor, not an All-in-One. Not interested in using ChromeOS Flex as it doesn't have the Native functionality of Google Play Store among others.

Please Google! We need possibility to place apps or widgets on Desktop🙏🏻

We NEED being able to install APKs with a single setting instead of having to put the whole Chromebook in developer mode. We also need to be able to disable the startup of specific Android apps. And in addition all Chromebooks with a x64 chipset should have a 64bit OS. My Chromebook has a 64bit chipset and still has 32bit ChromeOS. Come on, it's 2024 already FFS.

I watched this video 3 months later. However the goal "Simple and yet powerful computer for everyone" caught my eyes and made me think a lot. It's true that Chromebooks are great simple computing device and with the availability of Android and Linux apps it has become even more powerful. However Google will never achieve that "for everyone" goal. The only way to reach that goal is to create ChromeOS virtual machine that can run in Android vm (thanks to Android Virtualization Framework). That would bring desktop grade OS to Android phones and close the digital divide and truly empower "everyone". Not everyone has a laptop in the developing world, but they have a smartphone (they can't afford to have both). ChromeOS vm on Android would help students in those countries doing their school tasks on just one device!

Have you heard of audio post processing? The sound is horrible

When do i get desktop shortcut? Sharing clipboard between chromeos and andriod is a hit or miss. Nearby share is terribly slow. Some good old chrome app were gone forever. Frequently reboot from sleep for no reason. Please focus on this problems before introducing new things

My child's Chromebook is supervised by Family Link. Unfortunately, Linux is disabled, and I can't find a way to enable it. This is a pity because I can't install Linux apps or IDE to teach my child programming. I hope Google can fix it.

Very good improvements, for sure ! BUT, in a world where photos and videos are king, when are we going to be able to explore Google Photos from within the Files browser?

No talk about improving the Linux support (Crostini) of ChromeOS. 😑😑 Many people buying Chromebook for their low price without knowing the hassle of installing Desktop apps. And IT guys get scolded for ChromeOS's fault. Please improve Crostini and add Linux App Store.
