X-Plane is great, but it's missing a crucial feature: auto-save during flight. Often, when flying for an hour or two, the game can crash due to a power cut or PC failure. If auto-save were implemented, it would allow users to resume from where the sim or computer had shut down, rather than starting the flight from the beginning. Therefore, auto-save is a crucial feature that needs to be added to X-Plane.
Same here, I've had a bit of an Xplane and sim in general pause for a couple years but I'm getting the buzz again to come back seeing we finally have things like nice weather built-in without having to get an addon.

I have been with x-plane since xplane5. NO OTHER simulator out there comes with flexibility x-plane offers us. When U buy other sims out there, U R stuck with what they sold U....not with x-plane. I have flown x-plane aircrafts to space and back, I have modified x-plane aircraft into VTOL vehicles. Reality that comes with x-plane is amazing. On top of everything else, x-plane is very easy 2 work with. Keep up the good work, Austin.
I've not been in X-Plane much since I've been working with DCS World, but am very eager to know about this latest version release. I saw it's in beta 4 right now, so I'm looking forward to the final 12.1.0 version. Looks to be awesome! Thanks for doing this Austin.
Austins enthusiasm and love of flight is unrivaled. He has a knack of explaining complex aviation concepts in an easy way. I'm riveted each time he speaks. Thank you Austin and Laminar team for this amazing flight sim XP12. I regret that I bought it on Steam (because it was on sale) and once Ive saved up I'm going to buy it again direct from Laminar. I love that he stood near the real airplanes in the video that are included in the sim!

As a new XP user of 2 years I'm loving the experience. Now on my 3rd major scenery project, really appreciate the open source nature, stability of the platform. WED is a superb tool. As a heritage man, I'd really appreciate a study level Lancaster in my hangar, hint hint.
Good improvements I love that! Lets see how that works?? And dont forget to improve the wing fade effects as well when flying through clouds. And wing effects when plan goes up and down.
so glad you do something for the helicopters. whiteout/brownout improvements are welcome, but what we also wait for is a major improvement to the downwash - which sould create a move from center out spiderweb animation on ground moving tons of air and material away from underknief into all directions, That effect should be brought into relation to planemaker's aircraft data, including the power produced by the actual rotor. a blackhawk pushes far more mass than a robinson. best seen over water (turning the surface into white circles double the size of the mainrotor blade disk), visualize it. But even more i plee for a more non-linear velocity vector. Mind the macro-dynamics of the air mass onto the airframe is not only responded by its cross sections, that would be too simple, but forces center line side- and upwards without actually losing the flight direction. this non-stabile attitude behaviour should become part of x-plane's heli flying. thank you austin.

@@Americanboy48 clear your memory, if you use windows, check your ram settings that can use a lot of your system resources. i set it to 5 minutes so RAM can add new scenery while flying larger distances. That also prevents from CTD. Not sure why this hack is not being told by laminar, but every pc user should actually know about such basics. Autosave which you request was meant for games back in the 80's of last century. Memorizing terrabytes of data during a longer flight would not only make your pc slower but require massive storage and processing resources. You don't want that. Try the memory clearing instead and get at least the rid of crashes so you don't need to replay things. By the way, x-plane does have a replay function, so flights are in fact recorded and progress is autosaved. however, a CTD would clear that memorized data. saving the flight progress must be done manually which is easy to do.
helicopters have less carrying surface than fixed wing, the main rotor delivers the energy instead. Yes, they are less stabile during forward flight, because air can cross the object from all sides since there is no such flat surfaces. Only the fuselage's cross section. wind whirls can therefore push the centerline much more than with fixed wing aircraft, so the velocity vector travels quite a bit. Either planemaker seems not calculating this, or x-plane does not have a sophisticated wind model. simply pushing air stream from the front onto a cross section is probably only half the job.
I'm ever more impressed by the atmosphere simulation, especially early and late in the day. Wouldn't mind a menu option to turn off the AI car traffic, so recordings look smoother.
Someone made a plugin not long ago to succeed groundtraffic and by the sound of the comments, it is much greater, and very smooth traffic (cars and boats). It’s on the forum but people have to implement it into their scenery, and I don’t have XP12 anyway I’m only saying this for fun.
I'm wondering when will the water colors change. We in the Caribbean love to see the tropical colors when we fly in our home areas and with all the great things happening, this seems like it's not going to happen!
And that's the reason why I will always be an XP fanboy!... It's nice when the designer of the program actually explains things to you My hat's off to you Austin! You took a great simulator and made it even better! While I still do fly Microsoft I always come back to XP! Thank you so much for all your hard work and dedication as well as the rest of the team... I look forward to the future of XP!!! 😊
Hey! The Boeing 737-800 replay bug on Linux has been fixed. Thank you. Oddly, my ToLiss Airbus 320 has been crippled with bugs. It would crash before, not it crashes all the time and is unusable. That's okay. I'm happier to see the default X-Plane aircraft get some improvements.
0:02 tried to update my present DVD version that is not recognized even with disc one in drive. No product key on disc or invoice. These small things and inability to contact Laminar research are the little things that have major impact on my confidence in the product
Add true earth ( UK for me) and believe me it's a great training aid for VFR practise. I love it now. As a 300 hour PPL this really helps before an actual flight, with both handling the C172 and with visual Nav. practise prior to the actual route.

It's hard to go back to XP after getting used to MSFS graphics but I have to say I really do miss the authentic feel of the XP flight dynamics. Additionally, I really respect Austin's determination to continually update the sim and progress towards the most realistic representation of flight possible. It's been since the launch of 12 that I've used it but I think it's time I give it another go.😁 Keep it up Austin!
Going in the right direction but scenery needs further improvement. Some of us are VFR/student pilots. My practice area has chimneys, fuel farms, water towers you won't find in x-plane. MSFS tends to have more accurate VFR scenery depending on where you fly!
Awesome stuff!! Thanks for the hard work :) one small request, do you think it would ever be possible to make it possible to assign both left and right toe brakes on a single axis? I don’t always feel like pulling out rudder pedals and it would be nice to still be able to apply smooth braking using another axis. I know there is 3rd party plugins that allow for this but a native functionality would be nice
@@19Zet72 not everyone has so much time to spend switching out their whole setup so they can do a flight. If I’m busy and just wanna do a flight while I do some homework during cruise I like to keep my desk clear so I can use it for the homework, so I just use a HOTAS. I think there’s nothing wrong with that. Why should I entirely stop playing X-Plane just because I don’t want to always rearrange my desk when I have other tasks? Also this feature would be really helpful to people who don’t even have rudder pedals to begin with
Simply put, the pedals are used not only for braking but also for delicate correction of direction changes. You won't get this on one axis for both pedals at the same time. If something like this is enough for you, use the parking brake button. Alternatively, assign two buttons as left and right brake on hotas or use the keyboard.
@@19Zet72 I’m aware I won’t be able to use differential braking to make small turns while using a single axis. But that’s really not that important. Being able to have an axis for braking is not an absurd thing to ask for

Hello. X Plane 12 is a great flight simulator. I only have one more request: fix this error when the plane is in the middle of a cloud and from the external view I can see the nasty white-gray outlines of the plane. It has been this way since the very beginning of XP12. Other than that it's ok.
I love X-plane and the A330 is my favorite airplane on X-plane 12 the only thing that I don't like is the glare or reflection on the cockpit winshield at night.,I'm not able to see properly the runway and the city lights and even if I turn off the dome light it looks like if the dome light is on all the time.,hope you guys can fix it and hope you guys can make the A350 and A380
Love these new updates we are getting. Making me change from MSFS. I routinely fly both sims. Currently doing a flight to Every State using the Zibo 737-800 and the PMDG 737-800. I also love little things in this sim like the wheels still spinning after takeoff, or how every part can fail.
Well done to the whole Laminar team, combine this with AutoOrtho and world models and you have the best flight simulator available to the general public, admittedly I'm still heavily invested in X-Plane 11, I haven't got my monies worth from all of my addons yet, and developers want me to pay again or pay a fee to upgrade them to 12, and there are some that I still haven't even flown yet, but I'll always be an X-Plane guy, the flight model alone makes it a no contest
@@PolioBhai It would take way too much data bro, the game would be like 15gb in size, AutoOrtho is much better, it only downloads what it needs, and if you fly in the same place it doesn't keep downloading it, it saves it in the cache, you just need an OK internet connection

Congratulations, your work is incredible. Really sensational. But I would like to question something that has bothered me for years. When will we have more reliable avionics that are not from third parties? For example: I have Carenado planes with G1000 avionics that work but leave much to be desired. The system is incomplete because it lacks features. I bought it to try to better prepare myself for obtaining my type rating, but it ended up not being very useful because my focus is on the operation of the aircraft systems and avionics rather than the flight itself. Will we have, at some point, something viable for pilots to better prepare for exams?
Wait you can just set the number of other airplanes to 0 in the other aircraft setup in the main flight setup widow... just set them to 0 for max perf, no other planes in the way.. its right where you set the weather choose your plane and stuff.
When is it out of beta? It is a step in the right direction but many more peformance improvements are needed in general and more so for VR. More efficient AA is needed and better scenery. Also dynamic foveated rendering would give at least 50% fps increase in VR with eye tracking HMDs.
The way they make flight simulation more exciting and professional, it's just awesome. We don't just need eye candy and funny visuals, but we want an in-depth and realistic simulation. It's good to know that at XPlane, they have that at heart! Physics 😊 And even more, they show the sim in relation to the real world. That's incredible!
as a flightsim enthusiast, x-plane is my favorite sim but there is a problem for me. I am an amd user both cpu and gpu (ryzen 7 5800x - Radeon 6800 Nitro ) no matter what i do (either low or high settinngs) ; couldn't get smooth performance and this makes me sad. (with these hardware performance is very good on other sims. smooth and high fps)
so far, my beta version shuts crashes repeatedly on my computer. Initially I assumed it was due to the aftermarketl A/C such as FF 757. But it is even crashing using the native aircraft, as well. I am downgrading back to the prior version for the near future. Hopefully, there will be a fix but for right now, I cannot enjoy any of these new features, due to my concern about the next crash.
@@gertjanvandermeij4265 don't be that guy. FS2020 is also (but not exclusively!) aimed at a more amateur customer, BUT it has a very good flight model, competitive with X-plane's (though x planes is better in some areas certainly). Don't even try the "flight on rails" thing, that is not the case (though it was in previous MSFS, but not 2020). It uses both data from tables AND actual simulation from surfaces of the airplane and weight distribution; and add to that the weather system (wind currents, cloud behavior, etc). which is, simply speaking, outstanding. For example, flying a glider makes sense in fs2020, since currents and terrain interact. Also, the terrain tech is amazing. Using VR, It actually served me to train for my light sport pilot license in Spain, specially when practicing VFR routes, in a way that X-plane simply couldn't!

Great. Not a good image for the XP community. Not at all. And I made sure it was published, I even edited some typos. But overall, I'll state it again: ms2020 is not an on rails simulator, it's an actual simulator, like it or not. Diversity in the Sim space is to be celebrated.

@@strikkflypilot927 I don't sure what was wrong with my setup, but I got like 20 FPS in VR in 12.0.8 and .9, when same setting on flat screen is over 70, but now in 12.1 it's like 40~50+ so I believe what was wrong was fixed in this version (I didn't change any settings).
