Here are a few suggestions: - Tires - Cooper Discoverer STT Pro or Goodyear Wrangler MT-R - Wheels - Black Rhino Arsenal in black - An “A” Bar in the front - Black lug nuts - Love your current roof rack, so make sleeping accommodations inside
+1 for the Darche tent from Trek Overland, recently fitted to mine with a 270 awning and couldn’t be happier. Fitted to a Flatdog rack which I would also highly recommend
Hey mate, love your channel and Scout is looking awesome. I've had a roof top tent for a few years (Darch Panorama 1400) - while I love being on top of the car, the soft shell roof top tents are a lot of hassel and no faster to set up/pack down than a normal tent. It's been so frustrating the last few years I've been leaving it behind on my weekend trips. I'm evaluating getting a hard shell tent which is a much faster to set up/down and (I think) looks pretty good. Alu Cab is the top end of the spectrum but the South African engineering for Safaris sounds like it's the absolute best.
Thanks so much for the reply! Glad you're enjoying the content. Good to hear the other side of roof top tent ownership. I've noticed Darche have just release their hard shell tent which looks great! I'm going to look into whether that will fit with my existing rack
Your steering wheel setup is so cool 😎 roof top tents are heavy things especially if Scout is your daily driver. A lot of extra weight is a big enemy of a defender and likely may cause unexpected mechanical issues, maybe best to try out simple setups first and figure out what is necessary for your setup before spending lots of money on things that you may not need in the long run. Scout is looking awesome
Thanks so much for the comment. Steering setup is definitely a great security upgrade. 100% agree about the extra weight, I wouldn’t use it all too often so may be a bit of a pain to keen removing. All good stuff to think about 🤔
Roof rack and roof tent talk to trek overland they have recently sorted me out with a paitriot roof and darche roof tent for my 90 pickup. I am over the moon with the quality of both products and would really recommend going and speaking to them
I’d put anything that doesn’t make your Defender more secure at the very bottom of the list, I prioritised security, gore hinges all around, and other physical devices.
My actual setup in the making right now! Roofrack: Cargo Bear from Nakatanenga Rooftent: Alu Cab Gen. 3.1 Storage & Sleeping: Oryx Solutions Paranoid sleeping system Door/Sidesteps: electric retractable (as seen on Himalaya Defenders)
