Jackson Arnold is the least of the Sooners problems but definitely among them. The pieces around him, the o-line and the play-calling are failing him.

@@Wes-b7v when every play is a 15 yard route by his receivers it’s hard not to take sacks, and the RPO system that they’re running is JV and highly predictable. Receivers aren’t creating any separation so they should do away with it since teams don’t respect the rushing attack right now.

I really feel like even though this game was bad, We are going to see a bounce back this week. BV has got this and I got faith. Jackson will get more work in with the guys who are stepping in at the moment. OL still needs work in the Run game. that really didn't help either. We will see though.

I'm just going to let my Sooners cook. Not the time for screaming for anyone's job. Our O needs a leader. That is the biggest issue I see. With no leader you play without inspiration when you need it. And that side of the ball is as uninspiring as any I've seen. The talent is there. Thank god Our D has Stutsman.

Have you seen the defenses in the SEC? Tennessee, Texas? The gap between Houston and Mizzou is gigantic! That is immense ground to cover for OU's offense and that is with everyone healthy. I was cautiously optimistic, but now if we don't see a radical improvement, we will be an embarrassment this year. Hope I'm wrong.

Arnold is just fine. First true year. He’s going to struggle and adapt. He needs to learn to handle the pressure in the pocket and take what the defense is giving you. The biggest one is our o-line needs to get figured out. Rb’s are struggling too. It all starts at the line.

I think also having the big 12 refs at the Houston game also didn't help, the calls they made were ridiculous. next game we should see improvement, OU has always started out super strong and simmered down throughout the year. Maybe this year it'll be the opposite, we start off slow and then once the ball is rolling we dominate. Houston almost beat Texas last year, and Texas lost to OU and they still made it one game from the natty. So there is a lot of football ahead and I think all Sooners fans needs to stay positive.

I was just telling my brothers a few days ago that it takes a GREAT Coaching staff and GREAT QB to understand if you get 10 yards in 4 attempts or less, you get to keep going lol. Its my opinion this and a fast passing game is what made the Patriots and Tom Brady so good for so many years. He would get the ball outta his hands in 2 or 3 seconds and wear teams defense down using the short passing game versus always thinking you have to throw mid or deep passes. I think they realized the goal is to focus on getting 1st downs versus Touchdowns, you will get both =)

I boil the majority of our offensive issues to the OC not reacting to the flow of the game and making adjustments (calls) with the talent we have available right now. We must learn to take what the defense gives us and take the small "wins" to minimize the time that the defense is on the field. Our defense held Temple and Houston off, but this strategy will not work against the SEC and maybe not against Tulane.

Arnold is putting to much pressure on himself and letting every mistake affect him more than it should, he has all the talent and I don't question his heart, but he's got to get his head replaced, blocking, running better, timing plays that get the ball out of his hand, are just a few things that will help him, but if he can't quit worring about the last play, when its time to run the next play, nothing will get better

What is happening with Arnold is easy... He has no Oline and doesn't have the time to throw the ball accurately..... The Oline cant run block so the run game is no existent so now Defenses can pin their ears back and blitz bc they don't have to fear the run and they know the Oline cant pass block. That leaves only a handful of plays that will work. WR sweeps, slants, WR screens and its hard to move the ball when you can only throw it 5 yards max at a time before you're facing pressure. Idk if its injuries or inexperience on the Oline but either way they need to grow up fast or JA isn't going to make it through the season without being hurt.

We are almost at the point where we are going to jump into the best conference college football has seen in years... They may have offensive struggles, but when they play that team south of them, they will make plays never before seen this year…one handed, falling out of bounds with one foot in play catches…they need to get right, before that game,for sure…

Every aspect of the offense and every phase except defense had a bad game. The OL was a little better than they were against Temple, but not much. You nailed it with the lack of push. If we can't run, it's hard to pass. 1 dimensional teams are much easier to contain. And OU was 1 dimensional at best on Saturday. Receivers didn't do JA any favors with drops, misrun routes, etc. And the special teams play was odd. Multiple terrible adjustments to the ball in the return. Lucky we didn't turn it over there. Venables called it. Deserved to lose. Did everything possible to lose. Hopefully week 3 is the quantum leap forward the line and the team need. Or a Tulane loss is on the table. And lots more losses down the stretch.

Easy question to answer! Anderson, Farooq, Anthony, and Gibson the receiver's Jackson is must comfortable with. Jackson needs to relax and throw his receivers open. End of story!

Very solid point fs! But I also think its mostly Littrell. Our run scheme isn't a great one to begin with and then add in we can't execute it anyway. The entire offense is piss poor rn. I would like to see Hawkins sooner rather than later if this continues into 1st qtr of Tulane game, but not bc I don't like JA. I just think that the raw, lesser-seasoned athletic freak Hawkins may hv a good chance to provide a big spark and maybe play above himself and the pressure in this offense (exactly like a young electric Caleb Williams did). I love JA, but I feel like he's in his head out there trying to do all the x's and o's correctly and be perfect, while Hawkins may come in and just play freely w nothing to lose.

We need a fullback to help out the pass blocking and clean out a hole for our rushes. Furthermore, you would be able to play some of the guys at their best position since you know you have that safety net in a Fback. Enough with losing these receivers, they have been hurt for so long that JA should have had plenty of time to develop chemistry with the healthy guys. Also, I know the defense has mostly looked good but, where was the edge rush this week. I kept seeing someone begin a rush, stop and jump to block a pass that the QB was able to easily toss over his head for a completion. I saw this several times with the exact same result.

@@fredemerson9908 un, I think it was rot the most part although, I’ve heard Pettaway has been doing great and didn’t have a target? I believe the oline actually performed a little better than last week although it didn’t seem like it. JA has to learn to trust the line .

Get Tatum in space and get him the ball instead of 1 lousy zone run where he still gained 6! They were doubling Burks all game, where's the route concepts to take advantage!!!? Terribly coached offense and its showing!

Jackson didn't have that bad of a game he made a couple mistakes he was off throwing a few. He aimed the ball and did not rip it. people rarely were open where is that speed they couldn't get separation running deep and we had 3 more drops. you can't throw it up for the receiver to go up and get it with 3 -5'9:" Guys out there. I didn't even bring up the online and we have injuries's they passed blocked ok the run blocking was horrible. Injury's and i think the o line will get better. They need to change their run concept to help the blockers The online needs to hit the correct gaps and people as well. pass in flats and short-use backs on the side as check down and run screens etc get Barnes and Taylor in to do that Taylor made some mistakes and missed some blocks use him in the passing game lets help the line until they get better we will get better and Jackson will get the trust back to play at his level we will get some guys of injury which will help

Watching the game here is my takeaway for what it's worth. The terrible offensive line play bleeds over to everything else. We have great running backs, the best out of high school. We have great receivers, the best out of high school. But no blocking computes to hurried passes. No holes computes to 2 yard gains or tackle for loss. Jackson is not going to run the Bone and not get hurt real soon. The season looks dark at this point and I don't know if we have the time to fix it.

I think the best course is to take the Ls and accept all the flak were going to get so this whole program can get it's head right. We're all expecting to much. We've been at the top for so long and now we're trying to sustain it. I think that's unrealistic. We're so worried about slipping into irrelevance as a program that it's stressing out the whole program and the fan base. Aside from Alabama all these programs have been down at some point. Name 1 program that has stayed at the top as long as Oklahoma. We may not have won it all but we're always there, nobody else has done that. I think this expectation has held us back for years now. They say Choklahoma because we never finish. They're right. We've been capable of winning it all several times and never get it done. I'm starting to think it's not because we're incapable, we put to much pressure on ourselves. Maybe IM just nervous for the team, but it looks like this whole program and teams look nervous. The players and the coaching staff all come off nervous trying to sustain our success. And our fans make it worse. We haven't achieved squat, at this point I'm ok with rock bottom if it takes the pressure off. That being said I think thats why JA is playing the way hes playing. I think thats why the offense has no rhythm. Why is Demarco switching backs like hes been trying to figure out whos the guy for the past year, its known that you cant cycle 3 guys like this. You can cycle 2 but you always have a main guy. He sacred of transfers? Pick a damn RB and stick with him. These guys are not thinking straight afraid theyll be rotated out. Its to much pressure. Hell the walk on from last year knew he was the best guy and he kept getting swapped and he's gone now. Smothers played 1 year and was like nah and now starts for NC State and looks decent. Its makes no sense, barns would run the ball well and then get swapped, wtf are we doing.

Not seeing the all around effort from the receiving corps ( blocking to the whistle) that existed with Cale's coaching. Takes more than hogs and lead RB to push defense down the field.

Come on I like you guys, but your all we. There is nothing wrong with JA. Maybe it is our unproven OC. We all you take what they give you. They play coverage deep. They stopped Our running game. What that tell you? Throw quick slants over the middle. I,m sorry but Littrell is the calling the shots, get on him. I do not know why every ones so high on him. The fans bowed Lebby & I never figured that out? Littrell job is not just calling plays. He Is a teacher, first & foremost. It is early yet but the players are not in sink. Who is to blame for that?

With a meh o-line and a lot of injuries in the WR room, JA as a young, inexperienced QB that is not given a good system. That’s why I wasn’t a big fan of the defense not giving the offense anything in fall camp, because the offense isn’t gonna learn execution if you’re not going to give them breathing room, and you’re injuring players that you cannot injure

If we could just get this offense figured out this team will be okay but if not, if there is not radical change on offense this could be a tough season. Defense has to get off the field and stay off so they can have time to rest.

I wonder if he is trying to be perfect because he knows Hawkins sitting behind him and knows if he's not good enough the fans are already calling for Hawkins and he's worried, maybe he notices he is good and he's worried about being replaced. What I don't understand is if the QB is not doing good in a game at some point you try another one , I don't know why they didn't do that.for some rest that just was not his game, I don't know why they didn't see that

It seemed that the game plan was vanilla, maybe holding back the bells and whistles for SEC games. But our offense, especially with all the injuries, is not good enough to play with a vanilla offense. We were lucky to win. Seth Littrell needs to do a better job, and do it right now. Arnold will come right or he'll be gone.

Annnnd as we taked about yesterday, the trauma that was last seasons bowl game didn't help actually that was the onset😂 Not the game itself unfortunately the fanbase. Kid got verbally thrashed for things out of his control, but that's the wwight of this position QB. Its a head thing now.

OU staff ! Quit holding on to your ego and let the other players get into some of the action and see if it improves . We understand it’s only the 2nd game but everyone can clearly see we are in trouble at the whole offense . No one is in sync. Hawkins looks decent enough and is playing with confidence to be put in . Tatum and Franklin is more explosive at the run game . Let these hungry dogs eat ! Don’t just keep running the same play over and over with the same players and getting no progress !

Coaching is the biggest issue in my opinion, we constantly get out game planned and have trouble against teams with lesser talent. Even Gabe calls the plays we have been running as stupid 🤷
