@@SugarDannyyu Nah bro take out the army and they still can do it. Leaders and moguls of all countries keeps their personal wealth there and the swiss have all of their transaction details...
Ish_Violet :p XD the story from this show has issues. A Taiwanese immigrant family preaching about China and mixing up languages and cultures just to dumb down for American audiences. Most Taiwanese refused to call themselves Chinese since they have their own country. This show does have an identity issues from the casting of Korean Americans to play Taiwanese and the characters proclaimed themselves as Taiwanese’s but preaching about China pride, and the family speaks broken Mandarin but the little boy spoke Cantonese which is Southern Chinese language from Guangdong Province. This show pretty much confused itself and created an identity issues.
@@CrimsonEclipse well yeah, it's an American show. You got it right on the part where they don't really get things correct but the majority audience won't understand nor care anyways. And the Taiwanese aren't against being called Chinese exactly. Just not Chinese "from China". In Mandarin, we call Chinese people "hua ren", which basically refers to people who are of Chinese descent. And Taiwanese ARE Chinese in that sense. They aren't from China yet we still call them "hua ren" because they speak Mandarin and are of Chinese descent. If you are an American Chinese, I'd still call you "hua ren", doesn't matter where your ancestors or parents came from, be it China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore or any other country. You got Chinese blood in you, that's what counts.
CrimsonEclipse I agree with most of what you said but considering the show is based on a book based on a real family, maybe they did consider themselves Chinese, I don't know. xD
Asian took OUR cultural identity prior than grade. He may got an F , but he stand up for who(culturally speaking) he is. And that what make Jessica proud.
I’m Cantonese and my family always says “youmougouciuoh” which is what Evan said at the end. AND I DIED I LOVE THAT. usually we hear it from like our moms when we do something stupid. EVAN IS SO FUNNY

“even greece would have been cooler”? the culture responsible for advances in science, mathematics, technology and literature. i like this show but i don’t understand the need for that hurtful comment. a show that depicts the importance of embracing one’s culture and respecting other cultures should know better. this is my second time posting this comment as my first comment was deleted, my intention isn’t to spark controversy or hate, simply to show the importance of respect and kindness. ❤️
I always thought 有冇搞錯 was a cantonese phrase because i only ever heard it used by my family and in tvb dramas :'). Now it turns out it's a mandarin phrase and it's even pronounced similarly too
Nobody gonna point the fact that the kid doing the one for Switzerland said "just stay out of it" when the girl asked "should we get involved" it was probably a joke that the country is neutral because that scene was pretty useless unless i am looking too deep into it.
They're Taiwanese. Why he would be so gung-ho about China? Being proud of Chinese culture is one thing because that's their ethnicity, but showing off the red five-star flag of the People's Republic! No self-respecting Taiwanese person would do that! Especially because in another episode, Eddie fooled the teacher by saying that they take naps by facing the West in case China decided to invade their country.
Vivek Thuppil Actually, the UN told me that. The UN doesn't think Taiwan is a country.People in Taiwan can't even visit the UNHQ without MTPs,which was given to them by the government of mainland.
