My childhood after school snack was always just a bowl of cheez its or goldfish, maybe with some fruit snacks or something. Also those taquitos are the "nice" frozen taquitos, they are like 10 bucks just for a box of 20 of them lol.

I found that study about the candy. It says: Mortality was lowest among those consuming candy 1-3 times a month and highest among those indulging this habit three or more times a week. Non-consumers of candy, however, still had the highest mortality overall. Subjects were from Harvard university.

After grade 4 it was fend for yourself at my house. If the little kids got all the good snacks you got a can of La Choy Chow Mein Noodles for a snack. That was only if you were 10 or older. I was the oldest. So to make snacks for us who were older got real inventive. Great show guys

Link is so funny trying to put the straws in the pouches... all you need to do is hold it at the top on the sealed part and slide the straw in.... no touching the bag! That only creates more pressure and hence the splashage....

We didn't really have a lot of traditional snack food growing up. Definitely not the individual packages. It was expensive. My after school snack was a thick slice of sharp cheddar cheese dipped in bullseye barbecue sauce. lol. We also had cereal and milk as snacks quite a bit. And toast with cinnamon sugar or butter and jam.

In my area here of Germany we say "You get some Kasalla soon!" if someone doesn't behave and you threaten consequences. Kasala used to be a company that made school furniture and children that got spanking at school ca. 60+ years ago had to bend over and saw the underside of the school desk with the label. Today it's just used jokingly, or even if you are upset you will not hit someone.

A bowl of cookies and cream ice cream and a Pepsi was always my after school snack at my grandparents. At my house, it was a fruit by the foot, fruit roll up, gushers, a banana, apple (one piece of fruit and or a chewy fruit flavored snack) and a glass of sunny D or something like that.
