This is such a useful video, thank you so much. I’ve been baffled by all the different compost advice out there and it’s great to have a simple breakdown of the different mixes we need. Loving the other videos in the series too!

Thank you, that's edifying. Why must the houseplant compost be "peat free"? Also, I'd love to hear what the soil mixture should be for peace lilies, please.

Digging up peat releases large amounts of C02 into the atmosphere - climate change factor! So it's an environmental choice not necessarily plant specific :)

Thank you very much for this insightful and helpful presentation. May I ask you if using clay balls is necessary due to cost and space restrictions? May The Lord Jesus Christ bless you, Amen.

Not that I'm an expert at all, but I always thought perlite was key in a houseplant mix? 😅
@iDash68

I thought the same but I suppose its because he's using other chunky materials that provide that same drainage and aeration factor, i.e. horticultural grit, bark and even sand although its less coarse? I feel like the only difference with perlite is that its slightly more porous so is able to hold onto a tiny bit more water than grit can? I wonder if maybe just doesn't like perlite for the way that it rises to the top of the soil with each watering or because of the dust? Either way it's making me seriously consider getting me some grit after looking into it more!

1:18 has anyone found fine bark similar to this anywhere? (UK) I have found so many different varieties so I’d be interested to know what you used in this video!
