Hey Bruce. A security system is only as strong as it's weakest link. I wouldn't waste valuable thieving time tackling the anchor, go for the chain instead:)

Layer your bike. So true. I have two disk locks (one alarmed), a front chain lock and a Doberman back wheel chain lock. It takes me 5 minutes to put it on in the evening after putting my bike cover on. It will be a right pain in the butt for anyone wanting to steal it.

Love a bit of security and totally agree with the layering idea. Slow em down Shed barrier. whilst visually a deterrent. The shed is made of wood and a new doorway could be made in seconds. Ground anchor is only as good as it's fixings and material it's fixed too. Maybe look into testing a Milwaukee handheld cordless metal cutting circular saw. As these also are the weapon of choice along with cordless grinders, 12" disc cutters. At the end of the day if they want it they'll take it. If its too hard to take from home they'll do it on the move. When least expected.
@10secondsrule

That's what I had. A motorcycle stored withing a locked garage in a locked bicycle store, 19mm chain to a main pipe, 2 X disclocks, tracker, alarm, datataged. You can't imagine how much fun was to get the bike in and out each day. It wasn't. Sold it. Life is too short to waste it this way. After 20 years I'd moved out from UK and I'm enjoying thugs free life. The UK is a country for criminals not law abiding citizens.

You made the most Important point of "layers" as you & Dave termed it. It's all about making the thieves job pure hassle. You want to put that seed of doubt in their thick heads. So they go for an easier target. Again like you said nothing is 100% bullet proof. A petrol grinder with a bigger blade would make light work of all that. But if you've got several different layers of security they're going to go elsewhere. Unless the prize is so good they'll do anything. But if that's the case your gonna have your limited edition 50grand Ducati in a underground vault!

Not a fan of security product tests usually because they are often crap products or like many have said not tested the weakest link, pun intended. It is very difficult to remain positive as a viewer with so much crap being peddled, that is only a deterrent to the dumbest of tea leaf. There are some obvious floors in some of their products, the shed barrier in particular on works if the the remainder of the shed is made equally secure. But hats off to them for being Uk based design and manufacturer and in the Black Country. Unlike many in this field, they also seem to have a genuine desire to improve and develope their security devices. I wish them success and will watch with interest when the bring other products to market in the future. Sorry for length of ramble🤣👍

No dramas bud - and I absolutely agree with all that. The chain is 100% the weakest link, but the vid is about the ground anchor challenge they set, and promoting the idea of layered security. Two Comments: Are there not thieves using cutting torches? A small set about the size used by plumbers should be sufficient and quicker than grinders. If your ground anchor has a heavy small angle iron U-shaped frame inside reinforcing the plate it should be effective against most grinder attacts. If they are using a large cutting wheel, such as used in chop saws then perhaps not, but those wheels on a grinder tend to be dangerous. A cutting torch attack might be effect when cutting from inside and outside. Probably one of the best deterents to all manner of criminals would be dragging by their feet at 5mph through town behind a car until there is nothing discernable left to drag. The first mile or so televised would be the best deterence for other would be criminals. Of course if all the pick pockets and petty theives were done away with, where would find any politicians?

I actually insure my bike for being on the road, even though I have it locked in a garage with alarms, etc. Otherwise the insurance won't cover it for theft anywhere within 1/4 of a mile home if it's not locked in the garage. E.g. parking outside the house for 5 minutes, or washing the bike, etc, etc the bike won't be covered for theft!

I didn’t get to try and break any of their chains or locks myself, but I believe what they say personally. They’ve taken all the leading chains and locks and timed how long it takes to defeat them. Their chains and locks take longer than any of the others 🤷‍♂️

Thanks for the question Paul. Our chains outperform any other on the market by around 15% in a like for like grinder attack test and all our padlocks and accessories have built in 120dB anti-theft alarms. You'll be able to hear this going off up to 100 meters away.

Love security but a ground anchor is just that it’s somewhere to anchor a chain through and the thief cuts the chain not the anchor to release the bike. 🤷‍♂️
@teapotone
@teapotone 2 года назад
Very true, but if you have a good quality chain and padlock, there’s no point in having a substandard ground anchor if it’s easier for the thief to cut that than the chain/padlock 🤷‍♂️ As I say in the vid, it’s a question of layering your security to make it as difficult, lengthy, and unattractive to the thief as possible.
@bearded653

dont see the why you would go for the ground anchor. whan thay would just go for the chain. so its the chain that has to be good. 👍

@waynedl99
@waynedl99 2 года назад
Nothing is ever 100% secure against the determined thief. The best we can do, is make it so ours is more difficult than someone elses - ie, theirs is an easier target. Bit of a shit attitude, but if I make it so your bike is easier to steal / more attractive than mine, then there's a lot less worry for me... The main issue with security, is when you're NOT at home...

Surprised to see them selling the grip lock, has to be the worst lock on the market for securing your precious bike, literally undo the bleed nipple and the brakes are released
@Tolandur
@Tolandur 2 года назад
what is the rating for the bolts they use on that ground anchor ?? TiNi coated drillbit a fraction larger than the stem of the bolt and drill straight down through the boltheads...... once you get the hole as deep as the height of the bolthead it will come straight off.... just lift the anchor straight up and off you go 😄 basic mecanics skill when dealing with rounded off/busted boltheads
@engineeredbyzicam

As well as using two shield anchors with countersunk bolts with ball bearings in the Allen key heads we also have a centre spike with we resin in the floor. No way of getting to this once installed.

Bruce, there is one error in thinking here. A thief would never try to attack a ground anker if he spots it. they would always attack the weakest point, the fastest point which would be the chain or wire in between the anker and the bike. So there is absolutely no use in challening the solid ground based anker, built for the purpose to withstand the violence.. well here might be some idiot thief feeling challenged. So the ground anker has to be solid, no question but it just has to be harder to crack than the chain or lock, which are the real weak points. Still I love their garage locking bar, that is the absoluteley cracking idea ! No need to protect my bikes in my area though, if there were, I would absolutely take the bar blocking everthing, brilliant idea, brilliant work they did ! Best to you !
