Animation wise, Scout's is by far my favorite. The ragdoll is produces is actually unrivaled, especially on a huge map like Hightower. They can get SENT. It's seriously so good lmfao I always let a Scout finish his animation when I see him start one up Practically, Sniper's is easily the best imo. The speed of that first hit makes it actually genuinely practical in a normal environment. Way less timing involved, and even if you miss the second hit (which does happen a lot), you're always given enough time to either do the taunt again, or just do a headshot Iconically, obviously Pootis Pow lmfao I wish Spy's was better :(
Every time someone fails a taunt kill, their supposed “victim” just stares at the aggressor as if they just said something awkward in a conversation that never happened Funny shit
just the explosive flare guns, aka the Scorch Shot and the Detonator. The Flare Gun is the OG, yes, but I mean so is the Haduken (is that spelled correctly?) so I think the “stock” Flare Gun should stay the same in terms of taunts. But yeah no I think the Detonator should also have Execution.
I think I remember seeing this one taunt that Hypo made a while ago that had Pyro with a matchbox and throwing it backwards after striking the match, I feel like that'd fit really well with the detonator tauntkill or not Execution works great too
One factor you missed in the video was that the scout can use his taunt kill under the effect of Bonk, so while it's still slow as hell, it's also the only taunt kill that can be used while fully invincible without the aid of ubercharge.
Fun fact: Demoknight’s decapitation can effect the Demoknight, depending on what sword they taunted with. With the Eyelander, you’ll get a head. With the Half-Zatoichi, you get that health.
I love how in most of those clips the enemies are: -Looking at you -Trying to taunt kill you back -Messing around with you -Just straight-up letting themselves get taunt killed And barely anyone is actually trying to seriously kill you I love this game, and it's players
@@scoutbite4334 I mean, if you die from a taunt kill, you probably played a dumb move or just the enemy has plain luck(or everyone is being friendly and messing around lol)
Lmao in my experience, I was a Medic on the losing end with my Heavy he was on the process of a Pootis Pow while he was looking at me, turns out there was an Engie behind me and the dude got sent to oblivion. Got a good laugh outta it especially when the Engie said "What in tarnation" in chat
"It's like someone forgot to add the explosion bits at the end." I mean, that's pretty in line with how the Caber actually performs. Rest in Memes, Caber.
Heavy's is well deserving of the top spot --it's easily the funniest, stupidest, and most clever in a way. Can't say I've seen finger guns actually do damage before Tf2. But I also think Demoknights taunt deserves more style points. He decapitates people with one swing, it's hardcore. Engie's guitar taunt has a special place in my heart too for how funny I think it looks, but its really hard to get taunt kills with it.
Master hand from Super Smash counts right? Not sure which ones had fingerguns in them and when they came out but might beat it if you count singleplayer games. Frontier Justice is my favorite as well as the smack is so satisfying and I like the guitar gibs. It's a good counter to to banjo-playing enemies too.
I like soldier's kamikaze taunt a lot because, although the killing yourself aspect makes it a lot less viable, it also makes it a lot more impressive to get a kill with, and it also makes the kill a "should I be honored or insulted?" moment for the enemy. Also it has the holy hand grenade version. I have an entire soldier loudout dedicated to it because I like it so much.
this plus kamikaze and Armageddon are both AOE attacks able to take out a crowd (for example, when half a 2fort server has gone friendly), but kamikaze is less flashy and so less likely to warn people, and also doesn't have the "each additional person gets half damage" stat
I remember seeing a video of the BLU side of things. Apparently, the Soldier was A-posing, so nobody on BLU thought to move, until everyone exploded. It was great.
I would say that Fencing also has mad style points. It fits Spy's character so perfectly, and it's so incredibly difficult to land that the one time I was killed by it I wasn't even mad.
I like it as a demokight defense. If I see a demo knight, I duck around the corner and start the taunt kill. They invariable instantly charge into their doom.
Wasting Uber because your enemy stunned you is so funny and infuriating. Goodness I remember a heavy making my soldier pocket laugh while I’m ubering him.
I love how most of the clips are literally just missing taunt kills LOL To be fair though, killing with any taunt kill(except for the showdown taunt because everyone just finds it too cute to resist) is so hard that it would take 3x the time it took to write the script lol
I remember I once entered a game only to get an achievement with Demoknights taunt kill, in just one game I managed to land a taunt kill on a rocket jumping Soldier who decided to land where I was.
Recently I was playing with this amazing Huntsman Sniper who was constantly perfectly baiting people into getting Skewered, it was crazy Every 30 seconds or so you'd just see a Skewer in the kill feed
The spy’s fencing was the first taunt kill I ever got and I was playing on my dads all in one computer and barely knew what I was doing (but I’m pretty sure I meant to get the taunt kill).
I remember discovering taunt kills when I was a noob, a pyro got me with the execution taunt after my team had won on the first stage of Egypt. I was in absolute awe.
Fun Fact: When you fire a critical shot from the Scorch Shot, using the Execution taunt afterwards will always yield a critical hit. This stops once you fire a non critical shot from the Scorch Shot. This is obviously a bug, and I'm surprised Toofty haven't mentioned it yet.
@@BagEPB well no. The direct hit is good and balanced, it deletes scouts trying to rush you and busts sentries in 2 shots. The Scorch S**t is essentially a pocket Direct Hit but better, the thing’s ridiculous busted.
Interesting fact about the Execution taunt: The flare shot by the taunt will mimic the last flare you fired. If you shoot the Scorch Shot until you get a critical, the taunt will always fire a critical flare after that as until you fire normally again (unless you happen to get another lucky crit shot). Also, the Skewer can stun Ubercharged enemies. I don't know if you mentioned that in the video (I didn't bother rewatching to check). Actually, all the stunning taunts can stun Ubercharge. The Skewer just does it best because it's so quick.
Fun story: Back in 2012, when i was introducing my cousin to TF2, we were doing some duels in MGE because he wanted to improve and we ended up discovering the sniper's infinite "Stab Stab Stab" glitch by accident. We managed to hold the taunt contest for an awfully long time (like 5 minutes or something). We planned on claiming the world record on that one but we had no idea how to do it so we just played happy knowing we were both Stab Champs.
I think it would be cool if we could have community-made kill taunts that would be independent from weapon loadouts. These could be class-specific or even multi-class. One idea I just thought of for the Medic is a defibrillator, where he rubs the two pads together, shouts "Clear!!", and then vaporizes the enemy in front of him - Cow Mangler style.
The fencing taunt has to have the most style points to me because it's one of the taunts that requires the most skill to pull off successfully, due to its long time and the general weakness of the class.
I'm actually kind of surprised you didn't mention the Holiday Punch or the Bonk Atomic Punch weapon interactions. Would've been cool to give certain taunt kills some extra points for comboing with weapons to make them easier to land.
The best way to get revenge during humiliation time is to use the cow mangler as soldier because if you charge up the charge shot right before you lose it still fires, and there is no visual indicator for the charge shot during humiliation time, unlike taunt kills.
@@gwg2813 if two people with a stunning tauntkill hit each other within a half-second, they both are stunned. The skewer taunt specifically is so fast that two snipers can lock each other in indefinitely
scout taunt kill can actually kill multiple targets: you just need to stay on the lowest part of a stair and the targets on on a higher part of the stairs(in front of you of course) i discovered this some kind of glitch while taunt killing in tr_walkway
As a person that played lots of Medic vs Engineer zombie mode, I can safely say that Medics tauntkill holds a special place in my heart. Also speaking of staring contests, since the time they added a delay on taunts, pulling it off is a lot more difficult than what it used to be, which is quite sad tbh.
If we speak about tauntkilling a demoknight, then definitely the Huntsman. I had so many moments when I missed an arrow and a demoknight charged me but I didnt have another arrow ready to shoot so I taunted and he literally stopped in front of me, killing himself with a bind. 10/10🔥
When you mentioned fighting game taunt kills, that sort of made me think: Are moves like Falcon Punch able to be considered in the same category as taunt kills? They’re both extremely flashy, and can basically one-shot an opponent, but they’re also so slow and telegraphed that they become nearly useless unless your opponent is playing extremely poorly
11:53 HEY, THATS MY FREIND. THE ZEKEN0TECH GUY I CANT BELIEVE HE IS IN THE VIDEO (you should go check him out on twitch. He's currently taking a break though he also has a discord server)
I looveeee scouts because of the satisfying sound it makes when his bat connects, the home run cheering heard throughout the server, and the ragdolls lol
For me, Stab Stab Stab is atrocious. Sure it’s easy to use and has a stun but it’s so LAME. No character, no style, no flash. Sniper just pokes you with an arrow and you die. At least Fencing for Spy gives us a bit of character by it’s nature of him fencing with a knife. I also dislike the Ubersaw kill for just being a lunge and pull, especially after it replaced the deep cello music taunt. Medic doesn’t even do a sawing motion with it despite saying he is going to literally do just that. As for Engineer while Organ Grinder is good I have to give more points to El Kabong just for being a goofy ass reference to a classic Hannah Barbera cartoon plus seeing people with their heads smashed into their bodies is hilarious. Pootispow however is rightfully deserving the best overall, and I’d probably give runner up to Home Run, Kamikaze or Hadoken as well lol
8:45 shooting in a shooter. ye, special eh the heavy, who has the biggest gun, does NOT use it but his fingers! Implying the big gun is more of a decorative piece to give others a fighting chance!
Pretty much the closest thing I can think of the the taunt kills for another game are Guilty Gear's Instant Kills. They're moves which are difficult to do quickly and kill the opponent instantly if they connect, followed by a flashy animation. I think they embody the spirit pretty well, and they've been here since 1998.
That’s still a 1-on-1 fighting game though. TF2 is a first person shooter with massive three-dimensional distance between players. There’s an acceptable way to get hit by something like that on a small 2D plane. Not so much an entire 3D modeled snowfield arena.
1:00 it is a kill taunt I killed maybe 5 people with it in taunt war why everyone say its not in the taunt war everyone think am stupid and stand in front of me and frikn dies
Something else about TF2 taunt kills is that all of them can be gotten for free in some way. Either by achievement or common weapon drop. Some of the harder weapons to get _do_ have taunt kills, but they share the taunt with more common weapons.
I personally think Hoovy's 'pow" is great since you can make him say "Pootis Pow!" or simply "Poot Pow!". That is an insult to injury and gives me a chuckle whenever I pull off a perfect "Pootis Pow". The legendary move
As a medic main I'm heart broken that spinal hits so low on the list, I mean insta 100% uber on something like stock, with no charge buffs is amazing, not to mention the loud sound can be negated by a properly timed voice line, but that's the same for all classes so I guess that's whatever, but the main reason I love it is because it's gotten me out of so much bullshit. Once I had a heavy fully reved, rounding a corner to fuck me up, and I used the "Help" voice line at the right time, and it was amazing, not to mention the uber I got helped me run back to mid and then die because of a sniper, but I just feel like utility should have been a category, for example I think the demos gets you a head? & then there's the snipers which of course has the nearly instant stun, then heavys, which is basically AOE with its hitscan. I'm mainly just making these points to make the ubersaw tauntkill look better, but taking utility into mind would also have bumped up a few others so
I find it funny that Speedyboy McFastScout has one of the slowest taunt kills, and it's also funny that the reason it's so slow is because he's showing off by doing the Babe Ruth point thing
