Nice video man. I've fished lipless crankbaits for 40 plus years and I think this is the first pool test I've saw for original rattle trap. Well done sir
Thanks for showcasing another local Louisiana lure company and for the attention to detail to educate us on what the fish see. Thanks for all you do for fishing in Louisiana.
That was another great video. I watched your video on suspending jerk baits and pick the top three or four to add to my collection the ones on the video react just like in the real Waters of my lake and have a great flash to attract more fish.keep up the good work
I'm glad I found your channel. Where I live in NW Florida is very similar to where you're fishing, where you may catch a Largemouth Bass on one cast, and a Redfish or Trout on the very next. Neat to see traditional "bass" lures working on a variety of species. I have caught flounder on a Purple Zoom 10in worm, and Reds/Trout on Strike King Squarebill Crankbaits. It's cool how all predatory fish are in some ways similar-behaving.
I love these videos, I fish lipless cranks more than anything in my box. The original Rat-L-Traps dont have the amount of action some newer designs have. Id love to see you expand on this video with some other brands, red eye shads, 6th sense Thud series and snatch series, berkley warpig etc etc.. Also check out the IMA suspending vibe 70 its a lipless that suspends 3 ft under and can be fished like a jerkbait over grass but with a much smaller and realistic profile or fished with a super slow straight retrive.
That yo yo rattle trap retrieve seems like it would be great here in the shallow surf to get ribbon fish/ sand trout to bite for bait and even get a surf red/trout to bite.
Funny, I was just on Tackle Warehouse pricing lipless bait’s… I was on the fence between a few bait’s and while I was thinking about paying $15-$19 per bait I decided to look up lipless video… I’m happy that I did. I’ll be buying some Rat L Traps for sure! I like to yo yo and rip my lipless crankbaits and good ole tried and true looked amazing! Sorry Lucky Craft LV 500, I’m going with Bill!
Trolling a 3/4oz or 1oz Rattle Trap on the down current side of bridges and other structures is a great inshore search tactic. It may not be as exciting as casting, but it can be really productive.
We troll Hwy 11 and the Trestles with lead line for many years to get that Rattle Trap down in the tide to the monsters in the spring. Make sure you have a 3 foot Mono leader. You have to know how many colors out.
What no B2 Squid Trailers for the trollers in the house? 🤔 nice video Todd, as you know many trophy trout have been fooled by rattle traps around here.
