The number of people who call the Lib Pen a garbage weapon tells me that tons of players are either sticking to lower difficulties or are just bad shots. The Lib Pen is extremely effective at high difficulties due to its medium armor pen. It's weakness is it has a smaller magazine and therefore you run out of ammo faster. Managing this is pretty easy though, you just have to be smart about supply drops.

I like how the game actually visualy communicates - when you showed difference between uper and middle part of the strider, there were no “bullet holes” in the upper part, but were at the middle part, clearly showing it is being damaged. Important aspect for attentive players :)
The base shotgun is actually a really good knockback and damage weapon, u can easily take out spewers and brood commanders w 4/5 shots; sometimes a commander is taken out by just two if u shoot their head right next to u. it also knocks commander and stalkers back a shit ton
I had got the concussive assault rifle and let one of my friends use it but he still loves first shotgun more. I have also started using shotgun a lot more as well as it's just really good all around for most enemies. The smaller mag size is really it's only flaw I think but small price to pay for damage output.
I feel like the penetrator has too many debuffs to make it viable. You get a lower fire/burst fire rate, lower damage, and lower mag size. i feel like they could have left mag size the same and not made it burst fire for less damage
theres a hidden mechanic where if you hit light armor with light penetrating, the dmg is reduced by 60%, (white hitmarker). Contrary a red hitmarker where the bullet has a higher penetration vs the target armor will deal full dmg
I use the Jar-5 Dominator. It can 3 or 4 hit medium sized targets. It's wildly underrated I feel like. Edit: Gun got a massive buff and just know I was a user of it before it became the next hip weapon. I think it was unnecessary but a welcome change.
I also really like it. WORD OF THE WISE THOUGH, it is more like a layman's boltor that an assault or marksman rifle. Shoots mini rockets or something of the like that have projectile speed and a notably slow one at that. The reload speed is also atrocious when being overwhelmed. It's just a little to slow in those situations and it never winds up reloaded. Wish diving didn't reset reloads nearly as hard as it does. It does one shot small bugs, though without intercepting game packets I can't tell if the explosive weapon counts as having the trait for damage. Weapon also has the notorious marksman rifle style weapon issue of bad ammo reserves. 7 total mags of 15 rounds each for a total of 105 bullets, each marked with supposed 200 damage.
I play usually at either Difficulties "death mission" or "insane", so the libarator penatrator is perfect for me, but the normal liberator is great as well
While I agree the problem is you want to clear bugs that come from a bug reach, not push them away. The more they linger, the likelier they will spawn another bug breach. Concussive just prolongs their stride towards you and you can only use so many stratagems. Does make for an interesting build tho. Maybe pushing bugs off cliffs 😂
I like to use the concussor on bug missions since it’s a free stun lock against anything smaller than a charger. In solo, it gives me time to either run or hit a strategem, and with a team it gives us breathing room for my team to either do an objective or kill things
The concussive says it penetrates light armor. Remember that it is explosive and will damage medium as well. It will also blow apart limbs faster than others.
I like how sci-fi has almost universally decided that bullpup is the ultimate cool future rifle look, except for Tomorrow War where they decided to give everyone weaksauce short barreled rifles that couldn't even hurt the main enemy they were fighting.
Punisher shotgun is one of the best weapons against robots. Hard crowd control and u can 3 shot a hulk close distance behind. Also shielded robots usually even without taking damage they get stunned for half a second. Very good to create space to retreat.
One of the reasons I like this game, in terms of "war games" stress points and actual equipment customization to deal with the combat situation. Not "oh this1 does great dps for high armor, but 1 2 3 4 all do .1 dps less and are super weak to high. An extra bit of realism
Liberator Penetrator has been the GOAT for me. It's good enough that I've been able to play with different supports that I wasn't comfortable with on higher difficulties, I've had a much better time since. Though, on cold planets, I do love doing the double-laser with the shoulder-mounted and the scythe. The Scythe needs a buff, badly though.
As a higher level player , I found using the Liberator (single fire mode) is the best all around. You should have a strat weapon to take down medium to heavy.
Imo Penetrator is on par with standard Liberator for one reason, where as light armor pen can damage light armor enemies, it's not free, roughly 65% of the damage is lost when shooting a light armored enemy indicated by the white hitmarker, however, medium armor pen pierces light armor as if it was unarmored, making the dps higher vs light armor targets, and really opening up options.
Concussive is the worst primary in the game i think. Liberator is ok but defender is literally an upgrade in every way. The scope is not that advantageous. pen liberator falls short compared to things like dominator or slugger even, but its good rate of fire can be decent. You'll run out of ammo quick tho and on higher difficulties, you will mostly need something to deal with chaff and the huge bugs. Hiveguard are the only medium armor bug so its not good against bugs imo. You'll get killed by hunters/stalkers way more often than pretty much any other bug so breaker incendiary, breaker, sickle, defender, liberator, punisher are all better choices.
the PENETRATOR works better then the normal rifle against light armor as well because it deals full damage to light armor and the normal rifle deals 60% less
I like the liberator concussive. It's a good weapon, deals good damage in my eyes, and can clear trash enemies fairly effectively, while I use my laser cannon on bigger bugs, or machine gun/anti-material rifle for bigger bots.

I think people are slacking on the punisher for bugs. It literally knocks bugs back while my teamate uses the flamethrower w/ the new 25% fire damage ship module. The slugger is what I use vs the bots which has medium armor pen
For ARs maybe, if you dont consider new energy rifle to be one. Depends how you like to run, for me pump shotgun or future sten smg, never really got into ARs, DMRs or auto shotguns.
I stopped sleeping on the liberator after the PS5 glitch that resets your weapon loadout. Went in to a helldive difficulty mission and honestly it wasn't that bad.
