These are the two best break up pedals ever made. Blues Driver for me but both are excellent. Only thing that makes me lean toward the boss is the way it responds to the guitars volume knob. It cleans up without ever having to shut the pedal off and I love that
There's good reason that even in a world of fantastic boutique "hand wired"pedals that these outsell almost everyone on a consistent basis. I love them both. Was oddly happier with the OD though. Next week who knows, I'll probably prefer the BD. That is the plight of the guitar player.
anybody who owns a OCD 2/2.01 knows it is amazing for mid to high gain settings, but can't really calm itself down enough to be good for low gain tones. The blues driver is great all around. I actually bought a blues driver to put before my OCD in the chain and run the OCD super hot, basically using it as a distortion. Also the OCD I have, the 2.01, has the buffer bypass so it helps my chain in general
It always amazes me how rock solid these classic pedals are for so cheap. We all get caught up in new boutique and switching our boards around constantly because there is great stuff out there for sure. But for like 60-80 dollars mint condition, these and most tube screamers always amaze me how good they can sound for such little money.
@@GuitarlordJohnBurton I actually changed my mind about Blues Driver. I don't like it for low gain, it sounds crackly. I use an MXR shin juku drive for low gain now
@@swh0rd682 I don't know, I bet you can catch someone slippin on FB Marketplace close to 80. Might take you 2 years but I bet it's possible. I'd look for a gal looking to sell all her no good cheating musician ex boyfriends stuff he left at her house. They'll always go cheap. Happy hunting!
Yeah Super compressed! It's definitely a lot tighter and punchier of a sound than the OCD. I had a BD on my board for years but it seems that I actually prefer the OCD now. Feels more like amp distortion than the BD to me. But it's pedals so you know, I'll probably change my mind in 30 minutes.
Definitely. The OCD is a little more loose. The BD is compressed and makes it a bit sharper off the pluck while the ocd feels a hair warmer because of that.
I’ve found big swings in OCD pedals. The V1.4 and V1.7 are supposedly the most clear with the most punch. I have a 1.4, but I originally had a 1.2. My first one sounded muffled. The 1.4 sounds thicker with almost Big Muff capabilities with all knobs at 10. That being said, I probably like the Blues Driver a little better, but I don’t currently have one.
I have an ocd. He was running it on the lower setting, where to me it has a tube screamer “boxy” type vibe. Whereas it opens up on the hp setting which would give a better comparison.
They're just solid as hell pedals. Even in a world with a ton of great hand wired boutique options, these things just do the work. But I agree, for me, at this second, I'm more of an OCD guy. I was actually a bit shocked at how much I liked it since I haven't played one in a decade.
@@GuitarlordJohnBurton it’s not loyalty, it’s just that I find it more suitable for any application than any other, except for if you’re trying to match certain sound from certain guy from certain record.
@@bigstick5278 i think for me the biggest difference is the compression with these. One sounds a lot tighter and springy to the pluck and the other has more space and feels a bit looser. Not as punchy.
@@GuitarlordJohnBurton :::; Listening to a video with ear buds isn't the same as guitar in hand in front of your amp and feeling what you just described.🤌
I have a few of Fuller's pedals, OCD V2 and Plimsoul as well as GT-500 and Fulldrive 2. One thing about the OCD and the Plimsoul I've found is they're voiced prett6y dark - especially the Plimsoul - and the LP setting on the OCD is flat out useless imho. I will say that the OCD will give anyone w/o a Marshall a Marshall in a pedal type vibe.
