The woman who helped her stepdaughter get ready in the morning. Stepdaughter was 11 and had beautiful butt length hair, and took very good care of it. She used decent shampoo, conditioner, and used argon oil on it, and OP sees all this is way too expensive. All OP had to do in the morning was brush it through and plait it for her. Well, OP decides UNILATERALLY, that she doesn't wanna get up 10 minutes earlier in the morning to her SD, so she takes her to the hair dresser and informs SD on the way there that she's having her hair cut to shoulder length! When OP told the hair dresser to cut it to shoulder length, the hair dresser sees SD is balling her eyes out and is VERY reluctant to cut it that short. Hair dresser does it anyway even though she clearly doesn't want to. When they get home, SD runs to her room and crys and crys . She's still crying when dad gets home. SD tells dad what happened and dad is, rightfully, furious with the OP. OP gives dad the same bs excuse she gave in the post and he simply tells OP that if she was struggling to get up in the morning she should have gone to him and he'd have helped instead. He also tells OP that HE pays for the hair products and had absolutely no problem spending the money on it. In the end, he takes SD and leaves the house for a few days. She can't see what the problem is because "It's only hair!" The OP comes back a day or so later saying that her husband has left her because he can't trust her with SD. Christ, did she get obliterated in the comments! I remember reading it and being so applauded I couldn't speak for a minute or so. I was so angry with the OP, and my heart broke for this poor 11 year old child!

Damn, that remind me of my past. My parents didn't want to take care of my hair so they keep them short. Forcing me to go to the hairdresser every time, I end up telling the girl that if she touches me with that scissor, I scream. They didn't dare having a screaming customer. My mother was pissed, but I didn't care and I still don't. I was 7.

that kind of reminds me of the friends episode where rachels sister takes care of their baby for the day and goes to get her ears pierced without permission. Ross freaks out for every little thing but that was one of the rare cases where it was justified. when you watch a kid you didnt birth, your main goal is pretty much always to give it back in the same condition you were given them in. Even if your a grandparent or stepparent. Its hard enough to get both parents to agree on things like haircuts and piercings, nobody else needs to be in the mix! I hope this doesnt come back to jinx me. I have a eleven month old son, and we decided to let his hair grow out for a few years, past his shoulders maybe, and my dad, the babys grandfather, is already getting fidgety about cutting his hair because he doesnt want him "to look like a girl" sigh. wish me luck!

I was going to mention this one. As someone with a strong emotional connection to my hair I can tell you that being forced to chop it off is traumatizing. What's even worse is, if I remember correctly, the stepmom mentioned in the post that she's not really able to grow her own hair out long but then diverted saying that short hair was more practical anyway. A lot of people speculated that the real reason she had the stepdaughter's hair chopped off was because she was secretly jealous.

The story I’m still pissy about. OP was planning her wedding and apparently it was tradition to invite her whole class. OP was good with that, except she didn’t want to invite one girl who was mean to OP and even made her cry in class. OP’s friends called OP TA for trying to exclude her and it was tradition to have the whole class for the wedding, and the commenters called OP TA, siding with the friend in inviting the mean girl. In the update, OP said she did invite the mean girl, they were civil enough at the wedding, then after the reception, that mean mean girl announced she was pregnant. F the commenters who bullied OP into inviting that mean girl, it was her wedding, she should invite who she wants.
@QueenEevee1994
@QueenEevee1994 9 месяцев назад
Agreed, F the commenters who bullied OP. Also OP should have told her so called “friends” where they can stick it, if they were that upset over the mean girl being excluded from OPs wedding. If I were op, I would have said. “No! I’m NOT inviting her (mean girl). When YOU all get married, YOU can invite the witch (mean girl) to YOUR weddings. It’s my wedding NOT yours! Don’t like it? Too bad! Why should I invite the girl, who made my school years Hell, to my wedding?”
@ventusargentum9957

I seriously will never understand the people who insist on giving bad people second chances without first checking for indications of change. All of those commenters are idiots and that OP needs new friends. Honestly if I was the OP I'd seriously start considering asking those "friends" why they're so comfortable around somebody they know bullied me. Because there _cannot_ be a good explanation why they'd be so insistent on having her there.

Every one of those Redditors who did so was likely single or they were the bully in their time in school. That, or they are proof that enough time on reddit causes your soul to leave your body. That NONE of these Redditors who pressured OP into inviting a Spider Woman to her wedding will stick around to say “oh, dang, I was wrong, sorry” is itself a punchable offense.

I recall one post, written from the perspective of a woman, whose partner was not allowed to have many toys when he was growing up thanks to his controlling father. As an adult, the partner now COLLECTS the toys he was not allowed to have. Which was fine until the woman decided that she wanted to use his toy room for something else. When the partner did not want to remove his toys from the room, she contacted the controlling father, and the two of them took all the toys out of the room under the cover of night and donated them to a thrift store. And now the partner was upset. As someone with my own collection (but, fortunately, not a father controlling, mean, or stupid enough to do such a thing) that one just made me ANGRY to listen to. Forget a breakup; the woman was lucky if she wasn't sued.

I remember a story where the OP (NTA) told us that he had a little pet snake that he grew up with (the snake is a ball python, known for their friendliness and small size) that his SO was scared of, but she still chose to move in with him. He made sure his pet was out of the way, so it wouldn't bother her but that still wasn't enough. The woman kept saying the snake is satanic and evil and "made the vibes bad". One day, the snake went missing and the woman insisted it must've escaped but was strangely calm about it. Through updates, we found out that she eventually admitted to having taken the snake, stabbed it, and threw it into a lake. She kept saying "we can get a gecko instead". The man went to the lake to rescue his childhood pet and found the poor thing. It was barely alive and soon died in his hands. Everyone and their mother was telling this man to leave this bitch. He did.

I remember seeing this one about a dad who had a 20 year old daughter living with them. The daughter had severe mental health struggles and so eventually (because OP didn’t like dogs) they let her get a dog as emotional support. One day the dog mysteriously got out and got into an accident. OP being the dog hater that he is decided to put the dog down because “he couldn’t justify spending hundreds of dollars on a dog” yet he also wouldn’t allow the daughter who was absolutely distraught when they told her btw to pay for the surgery that would save the dog herself because “a job would stress her out”. The poor girl was absolutely heartbroken even though OP thinks she’s fine because he got her her favorite fast food and she didn’t want another dog after what he did. “So obviously she wasn’t THAT emotionally attached to it”. I have NEVER seen a bigger a-hole on this sub although there are a lot of worthy contenders I will say that.

The dad who parentafied (spelling?) His oldest daughter and forced her to give up her high school activities after her mom died so she could look after her brothers while dad worked. He promised her he'd find childcare so she could attend her prom, but "forgot" amd worked late instead, only to come home to her crying in her prom dress. He was shocked when she moved several hours away for college. The story ended with the daughter talking to one of her brothers over zoom call about how dad made her miss the prom. I grounded my son for a year for painting his nails, he hasn’t spoken to me since. It made me so mad. Basically son of op had started experimenting with his own style for a few years and settled on a more alternative one with baggy t-shirts, chains and the like. After op spent a few paragraphs ranting about how he hated son’s style and how he was disgusted by it he opened the next sentence with’ I’m not homophonic or anything’. Instant red flag. Went on to talk about how he thought his son was gay and how he that affect his view of his son even though the son hadn’t come out or even remotely hinted at being gay. Also had a problem with most of the son’s friends being girls thinking he couldn’t be a man like him if the son only had female friends. One day son came home with light blue painted nails and op flips out. Son stands up for himself and op grounds him for a year. No phone, no going out, no nothing. Think the most shocking part was that op was surprised his son moved out as soon as he can and cuts contact.

I remember seeing one about a woman who (and these were her exact words) took her autistic niece to the mall, because it was "every little girls dream." Niece knew she would get overstimulated (she was 10 at the time) and the mom proceeded to cuss her out for driving all the way there (20 minutes) for a surprise visit so they could bond. Afterwards, the mom thought she was completely justified and asked on AITA based on her friend's recommendation. After literally no comment supported her, she made an edit to the post claiming "nobody here knows what they're talking about, and that she knows she was justified and the cussing out was warranted and needed." @Mia-dt3gl 9 месяцев назад
Actually it wasn’t the son who took his own life; it was the OP who did. The son found the post 5 years later and updated everyone. I’ll give bullet points to what the son wrote: - Turns out the son _did_ have one person who believed him all along; one of his longtime friends never doubted him, because she had a family member who went through a similar experience to the son. The fact that the original OP didn’t know this says a lot. - The reason the son started the antidepressants was primarily because of his living environment with OP and the stepmom, because they wouldn’t stop apologizing to him even though the apologies made him upset. It almost sounds like OP and the stepmom kept apologizing to the son because they were _demanding_ the son’s forgiveness. - The son ended up moving to Japan with his one true friend’s family. Original OP found out he was leaving and tried to prevent him from leaving, and the son let loose on OP and told OP exactly what he thought of him. They parted with the son disowning OP, and the OP took his own life a week later. - The son married his one true friend two years after moving to Japan, and they are child free by choice.

One evening she ordered a naked hot dog and upon discovery, husband poured mustard on it and said some nasty stuff. An argument ensued and she wound up leaving. Hubs begins sending her hateful messages and even sends his mom after her at one point. He tries pressuring her to come home and grows increasingly hostile to the point where she's scared for her life, and trying to rush a divorce. It ends with her getting rid of everything, fearing he'd find out where she was, and skipping town for good.

I have too many: - The OP who refused to let her daughter go to the funeral of her ex-husband and say goodbye to her own dad because OP didn’t like her ex-in-laws. The in-laws didn’t like her because she filed for divorce when her ex-husband was diagnosed with cancer, and then refused to let the daughter see him. - The OP who ditched her boyfriend right after his mom died because she had scheduled a vacation during this time and she didn’t see what she had done was wrong because “he wasn’t that close to his mom”. OP accepted her YTA judgment but then didn’t talk to her bf about it for _3 months,_ after which he said he just wanted to move on from this. She dumped him because “realized she didn’t fully love him”. The poor guy ended up taking his own life - The OP who made her daughter’s wedding about her because the daughter refused to invite OP’s boyfriend (who was her AP) to the wedding. What made this OP an extra asshole was that she was still legally married to her husband (the daughter’s father) but refused to get a divorce from the father because she wanted to collect his military benefits when he died. - The OP who canceled her stepson’s 13th birthday party because he “facepalmed” a question she asked. She accidentally revealed in comments that she actually wasn’t ready to host the party, and had used the facepalm as an excuse to cover this fact up. She ended up hosting a joint birthday party between the stepson and her own bio daughter - who was turning 8. - The OP who humiliated her boyfriend at his birthday party by gifting him a strap-on in front of his friends (the bf was into this but _no one but OP_ knew this). The OP later updated and said she was still with her bf and that she had convinced him that his friends were “toxic” for “not accepting him” just because they had been shocked by the gift, and as a result the bf had cut off his friends. When Reddit pointed out that this was classic abuser behavior, OP’s replies boiled down to “you’re all just jealous that I have a man and you don’t”. - The PS5 saga. It’s waaaaaay to long to summarize here. - The OP who ate someone else’s birthday cake before it was served because of her “pregnancy cravings”. What’s worse is that there were other sweet treats in the pantry that she could have had instead. - The OP who complained to Reddit because everyone in her life - her kids and even her own parents - wanted to spend time with her ex-husband’s new girlfriend and avoided OP. Turns out OP admitted in the comments that she broke her marriage by having a _3-year long affair_ to the point that she neglected her own children to spend time with her AP. And she freely admitted it in comments because in her mind this was all her ex-AP’s fault and not hers. - The OP who caused her boyfriend to have a car accident because she wanted a McFlurry. No joke, she whined at him for a McFlurry, then grabbed the steering wheel _while he was driving_ and jerked it, causing the bf to hit another car. Yeah…too many.

OK made a post about it, Controlling dumbass found out about it, made a counter post trying to defend himself, and made him look worse. I don't know if you're ever gonna do another one of these, but the one I most remember is the one where the husband burned or threw away everything (except pictures) that his wife recieved from her dead mother, just six months after her passing. There were a lot of boxes. They lined the walls of the house, as well as filled a supply closet. The wife was awash in grief, and the husband thought it was time for her to `just get over it`, so when the wife was gone, he either threw away or burned almost everything in the boxes. This included a lot of family heirlooms, as well as the family history, which the mother was collecting before her death. When the wife gets home, he is suprised when she doesn't talk to him anymore...

Where the OP's younger brother is the golden child and when he was homeless, the family wouldn't help, but when OP bought a house, the parents and brother (plus a Karen wife and entitled kids) decided OP would give his house to his brother's family since they were living with the parents."Do it for Dan!" was repeated many times. -the one where the OP was basically forgotten about by his parents when his little sister was born after their mom almost died during the pregnancy. The sister became spoiled. The parents basically gave the sister all of OP's birthdays and he broke down at a Chuck'e'Cheese for "his" 18th birthday party. Sister was sent off to boarding school after destroying his car given to him by his grandpa. -the one where OP's husband becomes obsessed with her boss and stalks her. She breaks it off with him, and he lies to get with the boss. OP tells her boss about how her ex is obsessed with her, and the boss is shaken because he'd lied about how they'd met. The ex gets unhinged when the boss dumps him because he's a creepy stalker. -the one where OP just had a baby girl and her best friend had been dry nursing her baby while babysitting. OP is understandably weirded out. The "friend" says the baby is THEIR daughter, and she "needs" her breast milk and OP needs to stop nursing when her milk supply comes in. Totally unhinged! OP blocks her out of her life completely. -and lastly, the one where OP's son and his wife have a baby, and OP is such an entitled Karen, that she gets mad and increasingly delusional when her son decides to not answer her texts and such because his wife had an emergency C-section and horrible blood pressure. The “Do it for Dan!” one reminds me of a story from my Mom’s side of the family. One of her relatives had a brother who had health problems early in his life. Because of that the parents would dote on him and make his siblings sacrifice for him. For instance, if they had fried chicken or pork chops for supper, his siblings weren’t allowed to take a big piece because the parents would tell them, “You need to save it for poor little [brother’s name].” I get they were concerned about the boy’s health, but their actions didn’t help anything. Someone noted, “You can ruin a child by doing everything for him.”

She got upset again because they didn't want her to come over once they were home because the wife needed to rest. The whole time, she basically blamed her dil and thought her son was spinless and just doing what his wife wanted. It came to a point where she was in the legal advice sub asking about grandparents' rights and was even talking to someone about trying to get custody over her grandchild. Not on reddit but witnessed this in real life. My neighborhood grandma (not actually related but well loved) had invited everyone over for Thanksgiving one year to meet her new grandbaby just born the month prior. Her son was one of those health nuts who'd workout everyday and hated fat people. Throughout the prep cooking her dil would help and nibble on some of the food even tho she was still healing from giving birth. Her husband kept taking food out of her hands and even told her that if she didn't stick to her diet shed be walking home alone. It would have taken her hours to do so. This man had her on an extreme diet to get back her size 4-6 body (she was a size 10) by starving her: one egg white with plain coffee for breakfast, salad for lunch no meat no dressing small enough to fit in a coffee cup plain salad, and half a potato with a slice of plain chicken for dinner. She was very visually pale and swaying on her feet so grandma kept sneaking her food and scolding her son for treating his wife like that. Everything came to head when he found in the cabinet eating a small slice of pie and mashed potatoes tossed her food in the trash and told her if he found her eating ANYTHING other then broth and spinach he'd take the kids home and leave her. To answer that she grabbed a chunk of turkey stuffed it in her mouth without breaking eye contact and chased it with a beer. He called an ungrateful witch got in the car and left. His mom fixed her a plate of food and she finally had a real meal for the first time since leaving the hospital. They divorced within a year

Dude her mom just died and you can't even ask her if she is okay or drive her to the hospital so she can say goodbye cause she doesn't know what its like to work all day without food and at least now she doesn't have to worry about her mother's (I think she died from) cancer. Worst one by far was the husband that refused to take his wife who's water broke to the hospital cause he got off on watching her in pain while going into labor. He then forced her to give birth without medical help at their apartment and then took a nap after. Wife justifiably called her family to take her to the hospital where she needed several stitches and antibiotics as she was bleeding out slowly. If she hadn't called her family and passed out from the pain she could have died. Husband said "but that's what your body was made for so there was no real risk" guys women still die from child birth whether our bodies are made to birth or not the only reason its not higher is cause hospitals exist... I don't think it was an AITA story, but the one I will never forget is the parents who gave their son's birthdays to their spoiled younger daughter. Every year, she would blow out his candles and open his presents, and he was just expected to let her have whatever she wanted. He also wasn't really allowed to have a life, as if she needed something, he was expected to drop everything to take care of her. Even other events that were supposed to be about OP were made all about her, including his high school graduation. It all came to a head on OP's 18th birthday, when he broke down crying at Chuck E Cheese. His parents had insisted they go to Chuck E Cheese over OP's favorite restaurant, and when the cake came out all decorated in pink and placed in front of her to blow out the candles, he ran out of the restaurant crying. It was only now that the rest of the family realized that OP had been forced to give his birthdays to his sister, instead of him just willingly doing this for her out of the kindness of his own heart. The rest of the family went outside to talk to and comfort him, while the parents stayed inside to cut the cake and serve their daughter. When they finally did go outside, they were mad at OP for causing a scene. The rest of the family tore into them, but they still didn't get it until they went back inside and saw that not only was the sister eating cake, but she'd already opened all of OP's presents and was playing with his new phone someone got him. She threw a tantrum when she was finally told no for the first time in her life, and the family ripped into the parents again for raising such a spoiled brat. The parents started crying and apologizing to OP, but the damage had already been done The story doesn't even end there. OP went to live with his grandparents after that, and the grandpa bought and fixed up an older car for OP. The parents had kept apologizing to OP, so eventually OP decided to go back home and give them another chance. When the sister saw the car, she wanted to drive it. Mind you, she was 10. The parents did stay true to their word and told her no, but then she goes and takes... I forget if it was a crowbar or a bat or something, and destroys the car. The parents ended up shoving her off to boarding school, where she continued acting like a spoiled brat. To this day, OP still hates celebrating his birthday, because he can't get over the trauma of having to give them to his sister for 8 whole years.

It was. He was wondering if he was TA for blowing up at them. If I remember there was another update where she got kicked out of the boarding due to her antics and due to her threats of wanting commit unalive because she was put on a strict diet due to the very high risk of diabetes as she wanted sweets she was also trying to bully people but failed to. She was put in an institution and was let out for his most recent birthday she ended up crying and yelling why. The dad is done enabling it seems but the mom isn’t as she apparently had her own trauma from childhood which is why she enabled her daughter to hell and back.

That one always kinda resonates with me, because for a while my mother was like this with my stepsisters. It wasn't out of malice: I understand she was trying to make a good impression, and be as friendly and welcoming as possible. it just sucked for because as a young boy, getting dragged to the mall for hours on end because your preteen sisters wanted to go got boring after about the sixth time. I used to dread them visiting after a while because it would be two days of nonstop "whatever they wanted"--and while I can't prove it, I felt like, at least after a while, they recognized that and would start doing things to specifically spite me. (I should clarify here, that despite all this, things never got as bad as it did for the OP in the story mentioned above). And to be clear, my mother has absolutely apologized and made up for this over the years: I distinctly remember there was this one place I wanted to visit when I was a kid, but the only time I came near there was when I spent a full day sitting around at one of my stepsister's cheerleading camps. Years later, my Mother and I made the trip there to finally do what I wanted to do that day. It was her way of making amends.

Story 1 reminds me of another story I read on Reddit where the wife had her jaw wired shut and her husband had her making meals for him and their children (OP could not have solids and her diet was mostly broths and such). When she asked him if he could just make dinner not even the other meals she was making for her children he said he couldn’t because he had to work all day. So she would go to the store to buy all this food for meals she couldn’t eat. A Reddit comment suggested that she only makes what she can eat for her family so that the husband could see what it was like for her (she would only do this for dinners and make lunches for everyone). For the first few nights it was fine then he started to complain! I don’t recall how the story ends but the guy sounded emotionally manipulative and she kept trying to make excuses for him.

To be fair, the falling out between two spouses should never determine a child’s relationship with their parents whether that child is an adult or an actual child unless if one of those parents were abusive. So even though dad was cheated on, daughter has every right to have a relationship with her mom and have her at her wedding.

If I recall correctly, the OP was able to get it back from the garbage dump and give it back to her, but his relationship was beyond repair. Still appalled about the husband who goes to food banks when he makes decent money and his excuse was basically "well they were too slow", the girlfriend who put her fingers in homemade custards and fillings her boyfriend was making for his sister's bakery, and the girlfriend who thought it was "cute" to take a bite out if his food. Like he made a cake, sliced it up to share with his friends and she took a bite out of every slice. Oh and the father who said his daughter's cooking was horrible and nothing like her mother's/ his wife's. His wife had just died and he tried to turn his daughter into a homemaker.

DON'T suddenly stop certain prescription meds ... some need to be gradually weaned off under a doctor's supervision, or your body can have withdrawal type reactions. If I recall, a bunch of mental health meds are in the gradual weaning category, so that's super risky to that person's health to have their meds suddenly thrown away 😨

The stories about the food being mixed into one container reminds me of a post I saw on the Mildly Infuriating subreddit the other day. OP was an aspiring chef and used their first paycheque to buy a bunch of different cheeses to cook with. OP tried to contact him daily but he ghosted her and when she miscarried, and when he returned, he became upset because she did not contact him and inform him about the miscarriage, which she definitely did. the most sad part was that she actually posted this because she did not know if she was in the wrong because of the husband and her mother in law's gaslighting

The girlfriend's cat story - I never saw it (I don't read Reddit that much - I get my feed from there via channels like this), but when we had to move into an apartment, it didn't take dogs. My very dear friend took my chihuahua/greyhound mix into her honestly very loving care (TTRPG buddies - I still saw him regularly). And a year later, he was very ill, and his quality of life was declining quickly. She had another mutual friend of ours pick me up from home and bring me to the vet so I could say goodbye to that incredibly stupid little dog, and hold him while he got the injection. He was surrounded by all of his favorite people, and he was the best puppy ever. I still miss him.

That story just made me think of when our 15 year old Australian Shepherd got cancer. She was given 2-3 months to live at point of diagnosis. We put her on painkillers and tried to squeeze as much love and affection as we could into those last few months. She managed to hit 6 months before we thought the disease progressed to the point painkillers weren't enough to keep her quality of living up, but even if she only managed to make it the original estimated couple of months we would have not wanted to give her up a second sooner.

The one about the man who left his wife alone while her mom was dying. I remember this one and he said that he and his MIL didn’t get along as a justification. This man SERIOUSLY has NO emotional intelligence!!! It’s not about saying goodbye to MIL, it’s about being a supportive partner to his mourning wife!!! She was so right to divorce him. There's a story that lives rent free in my mind, and it was this husband who worked 12 hour shifts in a physical job with a SAHW with two(?) special needs kids. The whole ordeal was based on if the husband should do more chores around the house. But the issues ran much deeper than you imagined. Of course people asked for details and the more you dug the worse it got because the wife was also commenting on that post. At first it looked like "omg my husband posted this about me, you're so unfair. I work so hard. You just browse reddit all the time while youre home." which in turn he would accuse her of doing nothing but watching TV. But then she blalantly admitted: "I forced him to post this." She was rounding all the attention points from people who defended her no matter what. I remember the partial comments asking for more clarifying info would get a reply from the wife along the lines of "I WONT LET INTERNET STRANGERS JUDGE ME OR MY HUSBAND." That lady was absolutely deranged, I'm sure she was right to ask for more help around the house. But to manipulate the husband into making a post that made him look bad just to act like the poor victim instead of just making the post herself is... just so messed up to me. I still remember the UN of OP: lb_of_flesh I think the dude ended up asking for a divorce.

If I'm remembering correctly, he had around 5 million subscribers and was active for at least a decade. His girlfriend and her friends would tease him about it and play his videos in front of him to make fun of him. The story ends with him taking a break from youtube for a vacation and the girlfriend taking it as a sign that he's growing out of his "childish behaviors" and deletes/deactivates his account. One I remember was the female OP would typically bring a small gift (usually a bouquet of flowers or a bottle of wine) when she and her boyfriend went to his parents place for dinner. One day the BF gets mad at her and says that his parents also mad at her, claiming that she was treating them like beggars in need of charity with her gifts, and goes alone to his parents' house that night as they apparently don't want to see her right now. Commenters point out his argument makes no sense, as flowers and wine are hardly things you'd give to people you think are in need, and encourage her to reach out to his parents. She does and they say they don't hate gifts or think she's being condescending, and that their son explained her absence as her not wanting to come after they had a fight. So she confronts the BF and he eventually admits the truth: he lied and this was all a harebrained scheme to force an open relationship. He realized that OP and their families would be expecting them to get engaged soon, but he also realized he didn't actually want to be with OP forever, but he didn't want to disappoint his family. So he made up the story of his parents being mad at her so that he could "make her the bad guy" and threaten to break up with her, hoping that she would beg him not to, so that he could demand a open relationship as his condition for staying together. So OP of course immediately dumped him and told his family what he did. So now he was the one begging for forgiveness and for OP to take him back.

The mothers new boyfriend came around and apparently the daughters friends played with his guitar, so he destroyed her dad's ceramic plates. The husband was getting frustrated with all the cat's health issues and made some comments about just drowing the cat on the way there. And was told that he better not.. Then the cat escaped during the trip to the vet. Well, good luck explaining that after such a "joke". So that caused some tension between them to put it lightly. But nothing short of a miracle. I have always been there for their final moments, they have all passed away with me there. Earlier this year one of my cats passed in my arms at the vets. I intend to be there with my remaining furry family members when that time comes. They have given me so many years of joy and love, seen me at my best and worst and loved me unconditionally throughout, they should spend their last moments knowing that I love them, and (I hope) getting comfort from me as they go. If a partner just went ahead and took that away from me and my furry family member, that would be unforgivable. That's a permanent No Contact situation.

She kept trying to play it off as no big deal and saying that everyone was overreacting, completely unable to see she was wrong for even allowing him to get on one knee. When the comments rightfully called her out rather than giving her the validation she oh so deserved, she did an update trying to make the commenters seem like the AHs for calling her out saying "c'mon guys I'm engaged" as if that absolves her of guilt. Some people can only see themselves as the good guy and the victim no matter how bad their actions are, it irritates me to no end and I'd much rather listen to Sheldon from Splatoon rambling on about the latest weapon to be added rather than some self centered twit trying to paint themselves in a good way when it will never work in their favour no matter how they spin the story or what excuses they come up with. One I recall vividly is a parent going onto the ATIA reddit to ask if they were out of line for deleting their son's minecraft save because the kid was struggling to wake up at a certain time at the start of the pandemic- when all of his routines were thrown out of whack, when he couldn't see most of his friends anymore, and when he was still so new in being part of a school system that the kind of wake-up routine he had was entirely new to him. He was "Warned" that if he didn't wake up at some early time, there would be consequences. These consequences were never explained, and these consequences were the destruction of hours upon hours of his hard work that he was proud enough to show this parent. I don't know if they were ever able to get the data back- and I don't know if they'll ever have a chance to get a healthy relationship with the kid back. This was just something awful compounded on already enormously difficult circumstances. I hope the parent reaps what they've sown, because it was senselessly cruel.

@@footloosegenius2242 I actually have a very healthy relationship with my parents because they recognized gaming as an important outlet for me and as something I deeply enjoyed, so they found ways to set reasonable boundaries and expectations involving them that didn't involve destroying any of it. If this kid had shown their parent a piece of art they worked really hard on, or a really complicated lego build they'd been spending a lot of time working on, and then their parent took a hammer to these things, you'd consider it to be totally unhinged and destructive and something the kid's probably gonna remember for a long time, right? Games can have that kind of weight for a kid too, especially with a game like minecraft where you can build in it. The whole relationship isn't going to be broken from this incident. But a child that young is going to have a VERY difficult time being able to form a long-term foundation of trust after this. I read back on the post, and it was a distressing enough incident for the child to be left sobbing for hours at a time and outright refusing meals. That shit's traumatic, even if it's a videogame. The game's not real, but the violation of trust and the damage to the ability to feel safe with showing their parent their interests is VERY real.

Story 17 actually had a happy ending. The dad lashing out at the son saying he wouldn't pay for college blah blah blah, was largely a misunderstanding. OP reached out to his siblings after posting and they all rallied around him and went to their parents and tore them a new one. The dad talked to OP and let him know that he didnt mean what he said, that him lashing out was wrong and it was mainly because OP was in the wrong place at the wrong time because he and the mom had just had an argument about the affair because the mom had made a comment that the dad took the wrong way and everything kind of snowballed from there. OP's parents, the dad included genuinely loved him and the dad made clear to the OP that he always loved him and considered him his son and was deeply sorry for saying what he said and hurting him. That he was still going to pay for the school and everything the same as he did with the other sibs. OP forgave his parents but said that he was going to work on being more independent so that if something like this ever happened again he would be more able to stand on his own and not completely reliant on others to survive/succeed.

OP’s husband was an alcoholic, had been for almost their entire marriage, and instead of trying to get some form of help, would just sit in a chair and grit his teeth as others drank around him as his form of “treatment”. Daughter announces that her wedding was going to be at a vineyard and the parents refused to attend because OP was afraid her husband was going to get drunk. The daughter said it was not an open bar and it was one of the few venues she could afford since the daughter was paying for half the wedding out of her own pocket since the parents had a history of promising things and never going through with them. The daughter suggested that maybe only OP could come, or they could just come to the ceremony but skip the reception, but OP told her daughter that unless she changes the venue of her wedding then the daughter would not have her parents in attendance. OP and her husband did not attend and reached out to ask for their daughter’s new address so they could send a gift, but the daughter told them she was done with them. Reddit tore this woman a new one and she deleted her account after multiple times trying to double down.

I’m glad the pregnant woman and the creepy husband and father in law came up. It was very concerning when they kept mentioning her passing but it’s very unsettling that there has been no further updates since. I think this post was made a year or so ago.

There’s one where OP and his wife were on vacation in Japan, went to Disneyland on their last day, he offended her with a joke so they got into a big argument, and he just left her there! All because she “couldn’t take a joke” and accept his apology. She even called OP, crying (because she was left alone in a theme park in a foreign country she doesn’t speak the language of), and that AH just told her to pull herself together. It took her hours to get back to the hotel with a dead phone. Now they barely talk and OP still thinks she deserved it…

I saw a step mom ask if she was the ahole for getting her step daughters hair cut, her step daughter had very long hard to manage hair and it needs special products to manage the knots and such So one day the o.p says she takes the step daughter to a hair salon and requested it cut to shoulder length The step daughter doesn't realize her hair is cut until she sees it and she bawls The step daughter is Eleven years old, she is old enough to decide if she wants it cut which she didn't want it cut The step mother offers to get McDonald's for her but she refused and cried about her hair being cut The husband and biological mother were furious at the o.p for cutting the step daughter's hair without asking the step daughter if she even wanted to get her hair cut I was like wtf woman really? You are the ahole!

i think i read this same story on insta from an account who posts all sorts of toxic AITA stuff on there among other things. the daughter did mostly all of the work on her own hair, and all she wanted from the mother was for her to brush it and it didn't even take that long, but even that was too much for her.

That literally happened to me as a child but it was my dad, who refused to a) brush my back length hair starting from the bottom, despite me telling him how to do it or b) LET ME BRUSH MY OWN DAMN HAIR!! No, he took me to a barber shop 2 towns over and claimed they misunderstood when he asked them for a trim, and we were never going there again since they messed up so badly. I was proud of my long hair and never grew it that long ever again. I went from back length to pixie cut just in time for 6th grade picture day. I'm 35 years old and still not over this bullshit. (Same day, my little brother lost his cute baby mullet at the same barber shop)

God, the baby blanket story...if it's the same one I'm thinking of, it was worst than just throwing it away. He asked if he'd be the a-hole for trying to get rid of it, reddit collectively said yes and gave reasons why, but he ignored ALL of the advice, doubled down, and at some point just snapped and *burned it*. Literally took it out back and set it on fire. He talked about it like he was committing a crime of passion against a man she cheated on him with or something. It was horrifying. And then spent months - MONTHS - lying to her about where it was, tried to replace it with a 'better' one that was in no way like her old one, and then when he finally came clean, she dumped him. And all the while he had no regard whatsoever for her feelings until it came around to bite him in the butt and give him consequences. Anyway, my 'favorite' AITA post besides the blanket one was the one where OP criticized a fake jellyfish tank his girlfriend bought to help her sleep and regulate her anxiety, accusing her of falling for an MLM and saying "she's on meds, why does she need this?" and claiming that they can't have company over with that thing in the living room because people would think it's weird. Literally every word out of his mouth was straight out of the abusive gaslighting boyfriend handbook, and plot twist, not only did the cool jellyfish tank continue to be soothing for her, but her mental health ALSO greatly approved when she dumped him.

A quick rundown of some of the most iconic AI TA posts for better or worse: *the financial infidelity one, just look it up *the two different ones where both women had had the first girl in generations and the in-laws lost their mind. Once mother-in-law hit her was a snow globe and attempted to kick her stomach and the other one convinced the husband that she had predetermined the sex of the baby. In both cases it led to a divorce * the one where a stalker was asking how to get a cease and desist dismissed, thankfully he got therapy * the one where the guy had cheated on his wife in the past and the affair partner had recently died leaving the teenage son in his care. He was angry his oldest son would not basically give his younger children his PlayStation to use 24/7. Both the son and father posted their perspective * two hot takes is a podcast that actually covered a bunch of these stories where we were given both sides just all of them should be included on this list * the one that actually started off really simple where a girl just was asking if she was in the wrong for telling her sister to get over herself because the sister felt like her best friend had out shined her in the wedding. And when it turned out the sister basically had the most insane main character syndrome I have ever heard of. Where it turns out for years she's basically been manipulating people to work with what she thinks is right for her life. Which included cutting off friends when their friend group got too big for her taste, getting teachers fired because they didn't fit her aesthetic and spreading rumors about people that she didn't want near her. The reason she was creating this blow up was because her new husband was an addict and the best friend was his supporter and vets how they met and her husband being an addict didn't fit her narrative so she wanted to get rid of anyone who could expose his past. * the guy who did a joking post asking if he was in the wrong for eating his wife's expensive foreign chocolates because now he realized it was gonna take a very long time for the new ones to get there. He knew his wife used the subreddit a lot and she responded * the dude who was basically banned from bringing his girlfriend to his best friend's wedding because they want him to act like the boyfriend of the bride's younger sister who was disabled. Solely for the reason he was Asian and she has a thing for K pop. * guy who spent his daughters college fund on a car * Jorts the Cat * I also just personally really like the story where the woman was complaining her daughter was upset that she didn't attend the daughter's gender reveal party for her pet lizard. Because it seemed like a pretty NTA post, till you realize it was a joke party and the daughter just wanted to hang out and the mother was openly resentful of her being child free Some other posts that I don't think were on this subreddit but are still notorious Reddit posts: pee gate, the slug story, the couch story, stalker landlord, poop knife, nearly all the Kevin stories, ask a rapist

(TW: Animal Death) The one that still upsets me the most is the one where the OP had gotten a dog for his daughter to help her with her crippling mental illnesses, saw how much better it made her to the point she was able to leave the house (she couldn’t for a long time), and one of the times she was out of the house her dog got out by mistake and got hit by a car. The OP and his wife rush the dog to the vet, and learn that the dog needs surgery (like $700 iirc) and the OP decides that not only is that too expensive, but that ‘the dog had lived its life’ (the dog was around 5 and was a breed that usually only lives to around 10), and IMMEDIATELY has the dog put down. They called the daughter after, and ADMITTED that the injuries to the dog from the car weren’t lethal and they thought the surgery was too expensive. The daughter, of course, immediately starts sobbing on the phone and tries to say she has the money for the surgery, where OP reveals that the dog is already put down and they opted not to keep the ashes from having it cremated after. The OP watches how his daughter has a major relapse in her mental illness and refuses to speak to him, so he goes to Reddit. When he (unsurprisingly) gets a unanimous YTA vote, he posts and update where he says he tried asking his daughter if she wants a new dog (literally like a week after he just killed her other one) and when she unsurprisingly says no, he says that he must’ve been in the right because the dog ‘must not have meant as much as the internet thought’ since she didn’t want to immediately replace it. It still boils my bones thinking about it 🤬

Lol. The cheeky way you asked for comments here was hilarious. Me personally, my ADHD makes it nearly impossible to consistently read Reddit threads. I might get into them for a few days and then fall off. RU-vid videos I can listen to while I drive, while I shower (shower speaker), in bed while I'm falling asleep, on my tv in my free time which I do a ton, while im cooking, etc. My brain is just not wired to be able to do that much reading. So I highly appreciate these kinds of videos because it allows me to participate in Reddit shenanigans because you're gracious enough to read these things out. Thank you sir.

He had a meltdown when he found out and went to his sister and she tried to justify herself by trying to idk gaslight the readers?

There's this one reddit story that I listened to a few years back and while I can't remember everything, what I do remember about it is that OP and her husband had been trying for a baby for over a decade and she kept having miscarriages, false positives and I think she even had a stillbirth, which no doubt really messed OP up psychologically. In the story OP and her husband where at dinner with her sister, sister's husband, and her mom and it came up that OP's sister had an abortion and OP who had been trying and failing for years to have a baby snapped went on a long rant and said some really mean things about her sister's and husband's adopted kids and got kicked out by her mom. Later on, OP tried to call her sister and mom to apologize, because people in the comments of her post helped her realize why she was wrong and helped her get out of her own head, only for her mom to tell her that they're both going no contact with her. And while OP was definitely the A-hole, I don't think it was right to go no contact and cut off their obviously troubled daughter/sister who needs help. Low contact, sure, but not cutting her off entirely. I genuinely hope OP got the therapy she needs and is hopefully able to repair the relationship between her sister, mom, bil, and niblings. I also remember that a lot of the comments where horrible to OP, saying stuff like how they hope her husband leaves her and how she's evil and should die alone. While there where a few comments that offered actual advice, most where just downright hateful. Unfortunately, as far as I'm aware, there was never an update.

I commented this one on the original thread. Still makes my blood boil. OP is not the TA her boyfriend and his mom are. And the worst part is they have her convinced she made a big deal out of a minor misunderstanding. OP has myalgic encephalomyelitis. Her condition is so bad she can barely walk even with a cane or walker. Her and her boyfriend went to go check out wheelchairs. She found one that was perfect and her boyfriend said they could get it when he got his tax rebate. OP knew for a fact that they had the money but he said he was worried about losing his job. He had missed a lot of work because he won't go to work unless she walks him there and it's pretty obvious why she can't do that to often. He claims he has to much anxiety to go without her. OP protests and he calls his mother for support and his mother tells him they can get a wheelchair for cheaper from the red cross or she can get them on the NHS. OP tells him the NHS refused to give her a walker before. Why would they give her a wheelchair now. Then OP pulled up the Redcross website and the cheapest wheelchair they had was about 170 pounds and requires someone else to push it. The cheapest self propelled one is 240. The One OP wanted was 150. The mother kept insisting the Redcross had them cheaper and the OP told her the actual prices and she said get one though the hospital. OP said they wouldn't even give me a walker why would they give me a wheelchair. The mother and her son kept brushing it off. It gets worse cause through edits we learn the savings account and money OP was going to use to buy the wheelchair wasn't even a joint account. It was an account she had before they met and the money was money she had gotten from her last place of work when she left do to her condition but OP felt she need his permission to spend her money. Reddit pointed out this was financial abuse. But wait there's more. OP posted an update later and is now convinced that she was in the wrong. They have gaslighted her into thinking they are these wonderful people who take care of her and she's just not smart enough to understand their concerns. He also has her emotionally self-flagellating over the fact that she told reddit what a butt hole he is. OP wherever you are please get away from this family they are toxic.

I saw one story that made my blood boil over. I'm autistic by the way. I was browsing TikTok where someone was asking if they were the asshole for disliking their autistic kid. It really was really self-centered and some people were pointing out suspected abuse. The video got removed, mostly because the comment section went to hell. I mean, some people were saying pretty messed up ablest shit. In fact, I deleted TikTok because of the shit I saw.

The thing with the scratchers is a great example for why you should **always** sign your lottery tickets (especially scratchers) before you know if they have any winnings. If the ticket wins anything more than 200 dollars, depending on which state lottery it is, they need ID and signature before they cash out, and that's not something the gas station will handle.

There was one where a woman was raped by a guy who got off on a technicality or something (I don't remember). The woman ends up getting married and having a daughter. As fate would have it, the daughter ends up getting engaged to the rapist's son. The mother obviously has never approved of the relationship and refuses to be a part of anything having to do with it. After months of trying to convince her to come to the wedding (obviously, the groom's father was going to be there too), the daughter asks the mother to go eat lunch with her just to talk. Mother gets there, and the rapist is there along with the daughter. The mother runs back to the car, obviously distraught, and calls the daughter. The daughter says something about how this is the first step to "making peace with what happened" and carrying on with her life. I remember wanting to punch the daughter in the face for that. The AITA was the woman asking if she was in the wrong about refusing to go to her daughter's wedding. Obviously that question can't make sense because even a blind man can see that no daughter can put her mother through psychological trauma like that for reasons that selfish.

This whole post is making me think about all of the really mean things that people I loved intentionally did to me in the past. I have gotten over most of it, but I have had to force myself to hold grudges against a few people because I am really bad about forgiving people I love and trusting them again when I need to not do that. It’s a very short list that I have, but it’s a really important one that I really need to keep. I don’t like it, but it’s necessary for me and my mental health and safety.

The guy whose wife had a memory problems and carried around a journal everywhere she went so she could write down what she wanted to remember. For whatever reason the husband decided that her journal was creepy, because the wife was able to remember the little things that their friends had mentioned offhandedly, like a favorite kind of flower or candy. So one day he took his wife’s journal and just threw it away, this douche-canoe erased years of his wife’s life all because he didn’t like her journal

I remember one that popped up in a few sub reddits regarding LARPing. For those not in the know it means Live Action Role Playing, most of the time it’s like Live Action Dungeons and Dragons and just like with Dungeons and Dragons some games are ran by real A Holes. This particular post was made by a girl who had just joined a game and was doing really well with her character, one of the admins didn’t like this and had her character killed off by taking her to a “poorly lit area” and having another player “brutally kill her”. Of course when this happens you need to make a new character and you start back at level one, the girl obviously didn’t like this and tried to argue until she was banned from the game. She ended up taking to Reddit to air her grievances when the admins from the game jumped in the comments to defend their actions but ended up coming off as creepy weirdos, it was kind of hilarious. I think the post might have been taken down because I can’t find it anymore!
