I'm glad they added the padlock to the foods that started on the board, because sometimes with this game I forget what was already up there and what they had guessed 😅
@@markekar6021 but have you recommended something without trying it before, cause you kinda would have to have done that before to recommend not to do it now? 🤔
The red velvet cake they had is just a chocolate cake dyed red. Real red velvet cake doesn't have food coloring. You use a purer chocolate, like Dutch chocolate, vinegar and baking soda, (I'm serious about that) which reacts with the chocolate, giving it a silkier texture, and giving the cake a red tinge.
As someone who likes baking, Red Velvet cakes usually have vinegar and buttermilk in them too! It gives them that little taaang. So it’s basically chocolate cake, but there are some differences~
The problem with truffle is that 90% of the added "truffle" in stuff is truffle oil/"aroma" and not real truffle. So most stuff that have truffle oil in it are hit or miss, eating the real thing in a resturant is something els.
And the 10% that's real truffle is even more disgusting. Tastes like rot. Then once the shavings warm up on top of like pasta or something they get all aromatic and it will legit make me heave.
Same sort of thing happens with Caviar. The good stuff is only a few days old and comes from a very specific sturgeon fish, they very likely didn't have that.
I think the quality of the truffle oil is important. Truffle is absolutely my favorite flavor, and I always get good-quality oil that is infused with real truffles. Almost always there is some artificial flavoring, but if you get an oil with some legit truffle flavor it is fantastic.
red velvet is more of a baking technique than anything, in the cake batter the leavening is caused by vinegar and baking soda reacting together, this + the use of cake flour instead of regular flour gives it the super velvety texture. you can make velvet cakes that arent all red or chocolate, thats just the best kind hehe
I actually like red velvet by itself. The thing I don’t like is most of the time cream cheese frosting is the frosting of choice for red velvet cake, which I don’t like. It’s just to heavy and dense for my taste.
I hope everyone heard me yelling about why red velvet isn’t the same thing as chocolate cake. No doubt indignation crosses the bounds of time and space.
Yes!! even aside from the buttermilk, what about the fact that red velvet ALWAYS has cream cheese frosting? Red velvet is my favorite just because you’re *guaranteed* cream cheese frosting with it lol
Red Velvet isn't just chocolate cake that it's red, it's VANILLA cake that has cocoa and vinegar in it, as well as a LOT of red dye, which changes the texture and a lot of people have an intolerance to.
Remi d me Never to eat your red velvet cake if you use vanilla cake or red food coloring to your cake. Try finding an old southern recipe. You wont those things at all. You will find cocoa, buttermilk, vinegar, which when combined turn the batter red
Fun fact:do you know that the metal spoon can affect the taste of caviar. That's why in the fancy restaurant, they suggest customers to use it with a wooden spoon
I don't doubt that's true and matters if you like caviar. But there's no way the difference is big enough that it'd make a difference if you already don't like it served from a metal spoon
Fun fact: I play in a hair metal tribute band in Knoxville TN called Skankbanger. One of my favorite post-show rituals is relaxing at home, eating leftover sushi, and watching GMM. I’m doing it right now, and it’s great.
Fun fact: Sriracha recipe isn't the same as the original because the creator got into a dispute with their pepper supplier and now gets their peppers elsewhere
I don't know how, but I missed all of the numberings before caviar. I was having fun guessing along before I realized we get spoilers of the answers 🤣😭
Agreed, if i was in the wilderness with link and we got lost i would say "shut up and follow me." Then the minute he wants to go somewhere elee thrn where i want to i would say "ok, if you feel that strongly you can go that way but I'm going this way"
I like the idea of keeping the audience in the dark on the rankings, so the mythical beast's have an option to "play along" with you guys. Just a thought 😁 love these style episodes!!
*Show idea* ... The charcuterie board is being replaced with the snackle box .. a clean tackle box full of things that would go on a charcuterie board.. so stinkin cute!
Red velvet isn't just chocolate cake. It's doesn't really even taste like chocolate. Plus, I have found red velvet to be a more of a moist cake than most chocolate ones.
I'm saying coconut water is more overated than all of these. It tastes like sweat but everyone just thinks that's okay because it's healthy. I'm onto you coconut water!!
Believe it or not, you gotta find the right brand. I, like you, can’t finish some brands, sweat just like you said. Some are delicious though. May not be worth the search for you though. There are more bad brands in my experience.
Can u guys ask Josh to make some cheese fries with dehydrated shaved mushrooms garnish? One with truffle, one with Hen of the Woods, one with Morrell, etc. I think it would be a fantastic taste test episode
Also, any lobster you eat on the west coast is hardshell (because it travels from the east coast better). It's not a good representation of what fresh lobster can be.
@@kathrynbarr9248 Ah, okay I see. I guess it just depends on the recipe because I have eaten and made many red velvet cakes that do taste like chocolate, but I have seen the cocoa powder varying from 1/4 cup to one tablespoon.
Definitely think bacon is the most over rated food of all time, for how massively popular it is at least. I like bacon. It’s nothing to rave about though.
Does goat cheese have the same thing going for it as truffles and cilantro? I feel the same way about goat cheese as the girl that said truffles over power everything
