The Dollywood Vulture is the coolest because you can talk to him and he actually responds. He loves to heckle people when they walk by to get in line!!
Original Kong at Universal got replaced by an awesome indoor Mummy coaster, but we were gifted later with an amazing Skull Island Kong animatronic at Islands of Adventure next door 😅
@@ashlynadkins6491 I am from East Tenn., remember Silver Dollar City becoming Dollywood. Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, especially Sevierville, have grown up a LOT since then
There’s a full on xenomorph in that scene from the Great Movie Ride and y’all picked Ellen Ripley just looking around instead. That alien animatronic is terrifying! I nearly repooped when I saw it as a kid!
As a frequent Dollywood goer, I feel like the highlight of my trip is the Mystery Mine and its vulture every time no matter how many times I’ve been😂 I’m terrified of animatronics, but I’ve always loved that vulture. Also I’ve never seen the animatronic gospel singers at Dollywood, of which I’m eternally grateful for because I would also poop my pants if I saw that😅
I shouldn’t be surprised that Rhett listened to Dolly Parton’s America, but I second his opinion. Really incredible podcast. Then again, you can’t beat Radiolab’s production quality or Jad Abumrad’s skills as an interviewer and storyteller.
Thanks for the Dollywood poop story! 🤣 There’s music there, depending on when you go. I played for 5 weeks at their Festival of Nations at the Back Porch Theatre-behind the replica of Dolly’s childhood home
Chuck E Cheese used to stand to the left of the Make Believe band and introduce them. He owned the club, they were performing. And the stereotypical Italian chef on drums was a hoot.
C’mon y’all!! How are you going to mention Ripley on the MGM studio tour ride and NOT include the animatronic alien??! That’s the creepiest animatronic ever! Who prepped the clips for this episode, I want a word with them 😡
@@audryklein nostalgia, animatronics and theme parks were a bit of an obsession back in March 2020. It was a pretty cool phase and this was a pretty nice episode.
I went on a vacation to Gatlinburg like Rhett mentioned! It's such an amazing area, the downtown restaurants are amazing plus the nearby mountains are just stunning
Look up the Mister Roger's neighborhood ride at Idlewild in Ligonier PA. The old animatronics in that are my nightmare fuel. It was new and amazing when I was a kid. They let the ride degrade before they renovated it and it was... A lot.
As a 23 year old who just came home from a week in gatlinburg,..if youre over 21 and in the area,..Highly recommend renting a condo with friends and doing it. SO FUN
I have been to Celebration Station in Greensboro a couple of times for friends parties, and though I have never been to a Chuck-E-Cheese, I do remember going to Showbiz Pizza when I was a kid.
Holy guac I have had so many memories in silver dolor city in Missouri, disney world in florida, dollywood, and Gatlinburg/pigeon forge. I have been to Gatlinburg like 10 times in my life and it is so wonderful. Thank you guys so much for this video it has brought back so many memories. Im in tears from the nostalgia that this video has brought me. We would go with my granparents to every park they talked about in this video, and I am flushed with so many memories of my grandmother that passed around 2 or 3 years ago. Me and my family have had so much fun at all of the parks you brought up. Thank yall so much for this experience. I am truly grateful
Oh my lord i am still remembering all the trips to the upsidedown house and the titanic. And the avatar part of the diney world animal kingdom park. 🤧 I am truly happy. I love you all and all that you do. 🤧
Creepiest animatronic I know of is original Abraham Lincoln animatronic. When they were testing the robot a hydrolic hose busted and sprayed red liquid. It apparently looked like blood.
You clearly haven't visited the Love tunnel at Gröna Lund in Stockholm, Sweden. Those things in there are WEIRD. Mostly because they're old and not repaired for decades so they're literally falling apart on each other but still. YIKES
Both of them going crazy with the vibrators reminded me of the episode about curing headaches where these two went nutso on the electric toothbrush. Anyone remember?
Showbiz pizza, was its own company and competition to chuck e cheese. They were based in Irving Texas and started in 1980 and later in 1992 absorbed by chuck e cheese and renamed.
I went to MGM in 1989 and I totally remember that Ellen statue. I was in 7th grade and the park had just opened; they were still building the Muppet Show part. I rode the Star Wars ride, saw the Indiana Jones show, and did the stunt show and studio tour. Good times :)
The second band you showed was not our Chuck E. Cheese band in Minnesota. They were at a place called Circus Circus which was Chuck E. Cheese's competition.
I live about 2 hours away from dolly wood and go there at least 3 times a year. It’s the best theme park. The gospel isn’t there anymore I’m pretty sure and the bird was never scary to me. The ride was tho😂
singing sam the gorilla man at wall drug is definitely the scariest animatronic that's ever existed. the original one, not the revamped one. it's actually horrifying lmao
I'm sure they're aware of that. They just said the wrong place. Because I can guarantee no one is mistaking Worlds of Fun for Silver Dollar City. Plus, seeing how they were talking about Dollywood, which was originally a Silver Dollar City and is still extremely similar, I very much doubt they meant to say Worlds of Fun.
