This is a video about public transport in Riga. Where and how to get tickets? What kind of public transport can You use? All this and more in this video about public transport in Riga.
It looks crazy, they have same numbers for buses, trams and troleybuses, it's really crazy. That "number of trips" system is crazy too, I am not google maps or computer. I think we will buy 5 days ticket and screw that. :-) Can I get 5 days ticket without that plastic card or I just buy it in machine or what? I don't understand it. I understand tourists here in Prague now. But here it's super simple, just buy paper ticket what you want and ride, no care about number of trips etc.... :-/
I agree that having, say, a bus no 11, a tram no 11, and a trolleybus no 11 running on different routes is not all that helpful to the visitor. But I don't see anything over-complicated about the ticketing system. You can buy tickets for: one ride EUR 1.15 (*) five rides EUR 5.75 ten rides EUR 10.90 twenty rides EUR 20.70 (*) actually it's one hour -- you can transfer to another bus, tram, trolleybus up to 59 minutes after boarding the first or a 24-hour ticket EUR 5.00 a three-day ticket EUR 10.00 a five-day ticket EUR 15.00 The choice is yours!
She was saying is that if you want a more personal service you can go into any branch of Narvesen (a chain of newsagents / convenience stores that you'll find all over Riga) and buy an "e-talon" (e-ticket) there.
4:00 -- "you're driving like a rabbit" (!?!) I take it that this must mean "you're fare-dodging" (and if an inspector catches you, you will be fined EUR 20).
