I always take the shorty urinal so that if anyone asks why, I can say “I need the clearance.” But I’ve waited 5 decades for this to happen and I don’t think it ever will.

When i was in Marine Corps boot camp at Parris Island, there were no dividers at all between the toilets. Just about 10 toilets, 5 on each side, mounted to the wall. I didn't poo for about 3 weeks. 🤨

Re the toilets. In Toronto Canada, I have noticed two things. One, the gender neutral bathrooms 🚻 tend to have full doors 🚪 and are set up in such a way where the stalls are not enclosed in a room. Two, the bathrooms of note (eg Manulife Centre at Bay and Bloor) have REGULAR STAFF who come every hour on the hour. To that staff, please know that you are appreciated.

Backing into parking spots is statistically safer, and is taught be every single defensive driving course in this country. It is also company policy at many places as well.

One plus at dividing wall gaps is that you can pass tp if the other occupant is out of tp. Other than that, living in Europe now with fully enclosed stalls feels more secure jn more ways than one.

these people who are worried about how clean toilet seats are ... have you never heard of individually packaged cleaning wipes, alcohol wipes, or other myriad ways of wiping off a seat? if you're that concerned do that, don't put paper down that inevitably slides off and you don't pick it up and leave it for someone else to clean up.

Doesn't toilets get cleaned in the US? I mean, every toilet except for conserts and festivals I've been to has been cleaner than the ones you have at home. I havent used paper to sit on since I was a teenager, it's just ridiculus. If everything looks clean, I sit down. If not, I chose another toilet. What kind of diseases do you think you can catch with your thighs, seriously. And stall doors are only OK in schools and huge venues.

I have a pee funnel... I don't sit on the seat... I don't pee on the seat either...

If the venue has crap or no stalls I don't spend money there ever.

And this is why, unless I'm at the very moment of, 'Something's about to happen and something messy is coming out of me in 5 more seconds & I CAN'T STOP IT!!' I will not use a public restroom for toilet stuff. Because eww. 😬

This is too funny - we are currently traveling in Europe my 16 yo daughter just made this same observation about our bathroom stalls - she felt exactly the same way - so disturbed and very disappointed in the US 😂

I'm surprised purse sized, foldable stall screens aren't a thing. "I'm never using the bathroom again." Too right.

Have you tried hovering over the bowl instead of sitting on the seat? You avoid the germy seat and give your quads (and, to a lesser extent, your glutes, hamstrings and core) a workout.

The toilet seat auto-saran-wrap thing is at Chicago O'Hare airport! I hate that airport with every fiber of my being, but those magical toilet seat covers are almost worth getting stranded there.

I RU-vid’d it before, and our skin has a protective barrier and it may sound like yuk , but health wise we are ok to put our bare butts on the seats of public toilets. Showering often enough and wipes are a wonderful thing to have with you or at least quick access to not for your butt, but for your mind.

I can back into a space in 5 seconds in 1 try. And it is safer (and faster) when you pull out.

I have a spray hand sanitizer that I spray on the toilet seat before I sit.

I have Crohn's disease. I had spray alcohol in my bag before the pandemic. The alcohol kills the germs everywhere. Sprat seat and walls. I even have extra toilet paper.

We all know the "hover over" method of avoid contact with toilet seats... or in France there is just no seat. Seriously, I was expected to sit on the lip of the toilet itself many times...

I avoid public restrooms if it all possible!

You have to back up. You can back up when you get there by backing into the spot. Or you can back up when you leave by backing out of the spot. Backing out when you leave also holds up the line. Either someone is being polite to stop and let you back out which holds up the line or someone is waiting for you to back out so they can take your spot. So it doesn't matter. You're going to have to back up at some point and you're going to hold up the line at some point. It doesn't matter whether you do it when you arrive or when you leave. This is all assuming, of course, that the parking spot is one where there's something preventing you from crossing the top line. There's either one of those parking curbs that always mess up the bottom of your front bumper. Or the parking spot is facing a building. Or it has a bollard or something at the top of it that prevents you from just driving straight out of it. Or there's no barrier but it's like a Walmart parking lot and there might be another car parked in front of you that prevents you from pulling straight out instead of backing out. In a parking lot where it's just lines on the ground and no barriers, like a Walmart, then the whole thing changes. Because, yes, you will need to back out either arriving or leaving but those spaces are angled. They're angled in a way that the rows are one way travel. So you can't back into those unless you're going the wrong way down the row. What you can do, though, is pull into your spot then keep pulling forward into the next spot so that it looks like you backed into that one. But then when you leave, you have a really awkward angle to turn because, again, they're angled to go one way and if you're facing the direction as if you backed into it and there are now cars parked beside you on both sides, to make that turn to pull straight ahead and leave without scraping the car next to you is going to be impossible. So your only option then is to pull out of the spot and drive the wrong way down the aisle. But, yes, in parking lots where they're not angled and there's a curb preventing you from pulling up into the next spot, whether you back in now or back out when you leave, it doesn't matter. You have to back up at some point.

I'm not a urinal using person, but I did take a buzzfeed quiz once a very long time ago, which I got all correct intuitively, except for one question, which was the 4 urinal situation Lovett said didn't matter. According to the buzzfeed quiz, there was a correct one to take, which was the one closer to the door/sinks, because when you have to choose to be closer to one person, it shows intent to get in and out quicker or something.

The anti-backing into parking spots thing is purely an American hangup. In Canada (BC) it's just the way driving instructors teach you to park and it was required on my driver's test, it's a mandatory skill. In Germany where I live now, it's also a mandatory part of driver's ed and it's the standard way to park. It IS safer, not just for you and your car but for everyone around you, especially small children. The American insistence on forward parking as the ONLY way to do it is just so individualistic and asocial. :/

Japan has the BEST public bathrooms (clean, safe, private), and America could learn from the Japanese example. and ... People have forgotten to be present to one another and to be in the moment because of "smart" phones and social media narcissism syndrome, and that's truly sad.

Just so you know I don't put tissue on the seat because its dirty I put tissue on it the seat because its cold, the tissue acts a barrier between the cold seat and my butt cheeks, LMAO as I'm typing this.

Bathroom doors: Right , I’m with Jon it’s not that big of a deal. Do I like going into restrooms with full little rooms with doors to use the restrooms yes, but the partitions are cheaper, and they didn’t pass more of the cost off to the customers. I personally like being able to see some movement or clothing through the crack , in a nano of a second as I quickly pass by, so I don’t have to bend completely over in order to see under the door looking for feet. I doubt women are in there looking for a date. Celebrities is a whole other thing, people are rude and stupid and can’t control themselves. For them I support whole doors.

I was with you until the parking hate!! SO SHOO YOU!! GO & RANT ELSEWHERE 😁 Social contract?? Really??? If people were courteous and would let you out of a spot, I would probably just pull in. But they're all too often rude & impatient. So rather then wait 10 minutes for the terminally selfish to FINALLY let me pull out of a busy lot, I UNAPOLOGETICALLY quickly & proficiently back into a parking spot AND will continue to do so, thank you very much 😂 PS my van is right in line with those parking lines on both sides!! Hmmph!! 😁 I ALWAYS pull up to the front line on each side of me to give me about a foot+ in front of the rear parking line behind me when I back in to a spot. This gives me the ability to open the lift gate on my van without dinging anyone else's vehicle (as basic courtesy to those pulling in behind me... You're welcome 😁). This past week I had a super cranky grandma pull past her line about 9ish inches directly behind me & literally into MY SPOT!! When I came back out she scolded me because she couldn't open her gate 🫤

i grow weary of people looking through the gaps in the stall doors to see if i'm pooping. This was not an issue in the EU. Between uses the lady who cleans the seats was always there working with a tip tray.

Oof- 😢 the commentary on Bidens Juneteenth situation hurt so much. 1- he’s an old white man. He simply doesn’t know how to get down with Kirk Franklin. Liked this until the end, when it turned into a classist complaint about people recording concerts on an android phone - if you're a person complaining about someone elses phone brand not being apple, you need to check yourself for wealth privelege.

I hope these ladies were just trying to be funny. They don't seem to know how the world works. Bathroom stall door/walls don't go down to the ground for several reasons. First and foremost, security. It's harder to commit a crime when people can see your legs. (Think drugs, sexual assault, graffiti, vandalism, etc...). Second, cleaning. It's way easier to mop a bathroom floor with the higher door/wall bottoms. Third, sanitation. As it's easier to clean, it's also more sanitary to not have door/wall near the floor. Less area for bacteria to cling to....
