Rarity and Sweetie Belle honestly have one of the most realistic sibling relationships in the show. They're both constantly at each other's throats and pushing each other’s buttons. But at the end of the day, they both care for and love each other.
I like to think AB and AJ never had many of those moments cause of the work heavy life they have. I mean at times AJ feels more like a parental figure to AB as well and just like How AJ is the most mature of the mane 6 so it makes sense that she would be less prone to fights with her sister
@@Somewhere_Bagel Which makes sense for them and probably resonates with a lot of folks. The wonderful thing is that there are ao many sibling dynamics in this show that someone will be able to relate with at least one of them.
@@Mobythemerpup1515 but that would mean rarity would've had her at like.. twelve. Do we really want to theorize that Rarity was r@ped as a kid and Sweetie was the result?
The weirdest part of the CMC is their marks, them having the same mark but a different core emblem means there’s something unique about each of them that was never elaborated on.
for me its better that way. Its a good representation of how they're all so different but still have a close and deep bound despite the differences. kinda like the mane 6
Plus Scootaloo's cutie mark has a wing and a lightning bolt, features typically associated with "flies real good". Evidently, the universe is trolling her.
They say they are the only three ponies with the same / related cutie marks bc the overall symbol is the same but twilight and shining both have the magic star symbol as a part of their cutie mark and they both hold high levels of magical power but this is never recognised in the show? Shouldn’t this also be picked up, same symbols but in different cutie marks?
The reason scootaloo is adopted by rainbow dash is because I think they wanted to represent found family. My little pony often times likes to represent people and groups so kids feel included so I believe this is the case.
I thought it was really weird that despite the fact that Sweetie and Rarity lived in their childhood home we rarely saw their parents. We only saw them over for breakfast once and the dad in the background fishing. They made it very apparent that Rarity was the one who had to step up to raise her sister while balancing her fashion business. Their dynamic reminds me a lot of Lilo and Nani too.
@@twist_ending7545 Still. Sweetie Bell, a literal CHILD, lives in her sister’s boutique instead of in her parents’ house. The point of the original commenter still stands and your addition only serves as trivia.
@@lilywhisperer not really? Saying they live in their parents house is just incorrect. And saying they live in the boutique isn't trivia, it's just the truth.
<a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="277">4:37</a>...when her parents were finally revealed and turned out not to be dead/or abandoned Scootaloo and showed up on screen. I WAS SO PISSED OFF. I wish they never revealed her parents...
@@TheNotverysocialRD and Fluttershy’s parents work in the plot because they are *adults* and so we don’t expect their lives to revolve around family. Scootaloo, on the other hoof, still a child. We’d expect her parents to be around.
@@anonymouscausewhynot The fact is, her parents are outright awful. They should never have been revealed if they were sitting on them for so long, their mere existence never once hinted at. None of the pegasi had families for most of it. Within s1 and 2, all others were revealed. Apples, Pies, Cakes.. TS and Rare, latter of which is raising her sister. Flutter Brother happened, and everyone talks about Zephyr like he was in the rest of the series. And Fluttershy's suddenly existing family was named so lazily it draws more attention to the fact they were never intended to exist.
Rarity being left to practicality raise Sweetie Belle is kinda sad because that would mean that Equestria Girls Rarity, who is a teenager, has to put up with raising her sister
@@friedhegg1994 kinda weird that they have a much smaller gap in age in eqg. In FIM rarity was shown to be a young adult/or quickly maturing teen when Sweetie was five, but in EQG, they only have an age difference of about two years.
i cant remember what episode this was in, but i remember in an episode, there was a flashback to one of sweetie belles birthday parties, and i remember rarity being the one to organize it and everything. correct me if im wrong, but, on the day of the party, i dont remember their parents being there, meaning they didnt even show up to their own childs birthday.
While Rarity isn't always the best sister, I can't honestly blame her. She's trying to live her life, and run her business, while her parents are basically expecting her to raise Sweetie for them. She's basically forced into being a parent to her sister. I can definitely see the anger and frustration towards the situation occasionally bleeding out towards Sweetie, because in a twisted way she's the cause, and because she's the one who's there, not the parents. Not to mention how often we saw Sweetie get in the way, use limited materials, or ruin a project.
My overall idea about scootaloo and rainbow dash is that mlp was trying to show that you can have selective family even if not blood related, like a freind group
i feel its unfair to say scootaloo not having a sister from the mane 6 is for no reason i think the way they went is FAR more interesting then if she was in the Dash family. Scootaloo's arc with RD is one of my and many others favorites from the show. its so wholesome and makes you adore both of their characters more than u would otherwise. not to mention its probably so relatable for kids that didnt have very good home lifes and ended up having parental or sibling figures outside of it. like teachers or friends that feel more like family to them.
I think Rarity and SweetieBell's parents had them fairly late in life, like late 40's with SweetieBell. And since Rarity is heavily implied to be an adult they act like empty nesters taking so many vacations since Rarity can handle herself and act as a free babysitter for SweetieBell. So like moderately neglectful
The father of Rarity & Sweetie Belle [Hondo Flanks] has rugby cutiemark. | . He is a retired sport superstar (likely the third richest pony in Ponyville in absolute terms); who decided to put most of his money on passive income investing [living in a modest lifestyle with the monthly interests ratings, without the need to work or administrate a bussiness]. | . His 2 levels house near a pond has 3 bedrooms & 2 bathrooms. | . When Rarity got her cutiemark on... "gem stuff"; her desire to become an independent artist (fashionista) clashed with the rest of her family's idiosincrasies. She asked for "her own place" & that wish was given to her... with a lot of strings attached. | -> Her parents built (paid) for Rarity's Boutique with room & capacity for her and Sweetie Belle to live there permanently. | . Every time the Bank gives Hondo his gains, he pays in advance a trip for himself and his wife (but not Sweetie Belle). Since she is still too young to care for herself; Rarity HAS to take care of her little sister (she could choose to do so in her parent's home in Ponyville, she never does). / / / . Hondo likely planned for Sweetie Belle to ecentually move to Canterlot or Manehattan (depending if she gets a "useful" cutiemark in magic and/or singing); with the "fallback strategy" of giving his house to her [with him & his wife moving elsewhere instead], in case Sweetie Belle and/or Rarity need to stay in Ponyville. / / / [Future] . Since Applebloom is NOT living at Sweet Apple Acres anymore, she either stays at The Castle of Friendship (alongside Starlight, Sunburst & Trixie), or moved with Sweetie Belle at the old Flaks House (it also has a third bedroom, so Scootaloo couñd join them too). | . Scootaloo's house was SOLD by her parents to an (unknown) buyer. Her lesbian aunts sold (or traded) their house at [Canterlot_adyacent_town] to buy ANOTHER different house on Ponyville (were Scootaloo lived until reaching her age of adulthood).
@@diminie_chimket True, but it could be. -> Please, point to me any apparent "leap of logic". This is so complex & long already, that I skipped a lot of links in my chain of argumentation. -> I am but a mere mortal (without any secret knowledge, besides the FiM series itself + The 2019 DHX LEAKS); so I am likely "off" in some points [from the "True" (unknown) canon].
I mean for Scootaloo and her not having a relationship with the Main Cast (Mane Six), I guess if she was related to Rainbow Dash, it wouldn’t be unoriginal. I was actually quite happy that MLP did that so in a way, Mane Six isn’t always the centre, or involved all the time.
I really love the cmc Like they showed that a trio infact can work out andi just loved the freindship they showed in the show also i love rarity and sweetie bells relationship lmao
I feel like, from a writer's perspective, it also made sense to not focus on their families and give their parents excuses for not being in the show, as it makes it easier to explain why the CMCs always hang out, never having issues like "oh no, Sweetie Bell is on vacation"
Honestly I thought of that exact thing recently too. More on the parent side. All three of them have parental issues. I kinda wondered how or why the show wrote it like that for all three but I guess it happened. I mean shared problems or trauma does bring people or friends together sometimes. Whose to say the case is the same here
The absence of the parents (at least in the case of Sweetie Belle and Scootalo) in the series, always seemed to me more of a mistake by the writers than a script decision, but I liked how they compensated a bit with realistic situations. Applebloom has the "Disney parents" trope, where one or both parents are "absent in death" for a bit of drama, but the way they introduce it and then subtly say that "they are no longer with us" was sweet and touching. That's one of the things I also liked about G5 with Sunny's parents. The Rarity/Sweetie situation it's credible for me, because I know people who have had to take care of younger siblings while their parents work (that's why I found those theories about she being Rarity's "daughter" very strange). Scotaloo's thing is much simpler: She's just a Rainbow fangirl. There is not much to analyze there. About her parents... reading the comic where they appear (plus that FIM episode), I think she is much better off living with her aunts.
I think Scootaloo's sisterly relationship with Rainbow Dash was supposed to teach kids that you don't have to be related to someone to be a family. Scoots and Dash are not related by blood at all, but they still think of each other as sisters! This was originally a kids show afterall, so a message like that could really resonate with kids that grew up without biological parents or siblings. Actually, now that i think about it, Pinkie Pie has a similar situation- She has her biological family at the rock farm, and the Cakes family in Ponyville! i just think that's pretty neat lol
yeah personally i dont think any of these things are odd. if you think deeply you can find reasoning or meaning to it all. like the apples parents not being mentioned is probably because they wanted to do something with them but didnt know if they would have time/what to do with them. but once it was clear the show would go on for a while they just kept hinting and hinting at deceased parents until the perfect pear which was basically the confirmation. also dont forget the writers confirm their death :) its canon
I just want to ask what you meant by what you thought was the message. That having a dysfunctional family is "okay" or "normal." Mainly because of the parents thing in Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle's case; they have caretakers that are valid, but not the mentally healthy parents they need.
It wasn't worded super well, but I think it was supposed to be less "it's NORMAL to have a dysfunctional family" and "it's OKAY to have a dysfunctional family." The first message is essentially gaslighting, while the second message helps teach kid viewers that they don't need to feel ashamed if their family looks like any of the CMC's families. Showing kids going through fictional hardships is often a good way to give young kids a blueprint for how to behave in a certain situation-ex. if a kid has parents that act like Scootaloo's, they might model their behavior after Scootaloo in that situation because they perceive it as the "right" thing to do
Even though I like Hondo Flanks and Cookie Crumbles, I find a real shame that we don't see them having episodes to themselves or a sharing an episode with their two daughters. Also, I think the whole thing about Pear Butter and Bright Mac being 'dead' is too obvious. For my headcanon, they leave the farm because they had to as there were some ponies that were trying to kill them. Pear and Bright ran off to protect their family, thankfully however, the killer ponies are defended and the two ponies returned to their family. And finally, Snap Shutter and Mane Allgood are just really terrible. The fact they leave Scootaloo for so long and when they *finally* come back they’re like “Oh we’re going away again and you’re coming with us and we don’t care if you miss your friends or not”. Those are the kind of parents you don’t want in your life. Now, some say that Aunt Holiday and Aunt Lofty make the perfect parents, but I disagree. They’re nowhere to be seen when Scootaloo gets her Cutie Mark or does her report is just awful. To me, they’re just as bad as Snap and Mane. Not to mention Scootaloo said in the episode Parental Glideance “ Growing up, I never thought I’d be the best at *anything*, because nopony ever told me.” This could indicate that she has badly neglected by all four ponies. This is why Bow Hothoof and Windy Whistles make the perfect parents for Scootaloo. Sure while they somtimes go overboard with their support towards Rainbow, their hearts are in the right places and at least they’re actually there for her. If they did the same thing but with Scootaloo, that would have been great. To me, it was completely unnecessarily to bring Snap, Mane, Hoilday and Lofty into the show. Bow, Windy and Rainbow are Scootaloo's REAL family. As Kyle Broflovski from South Park said “Family isn’t about whose blood you have in you, family is about the people who cared about you and took care of you.” Sure they’re not the same blood, but Rainbow loves her little sister. And so do Bow and Windy. For my headcanon, Bow Hothoof and Windy Whistles adopt Scootaloo and make her their 2nd child and Rainbow's official little sister. That's how I like to have it in my headcanon.
Another thing is always wonders abt mlp is when the cutie mark crusaders try to help that griffin (I forgot her name) try to get a cutie mark twilight says “I’ve never herd of another creature get a cutie mark before” but what about zecora????? She’s not a pony she’s a zebra yet she still has somthing that looks like a cutie mark
Could be an unintentional coincidence on the writers part for friendship is magic that sweetie Bell an apple bloom have absent parents or dysfunctional family
Oop, that video surely FELT loger then it was haha Really liked your points as well as showing images on the little TV tho! Thats clever :D . I dont think imma be watching ya regulary but just wanted to wish ya good luck with further videos! Keep doing great job man :D have a nice one!

The Show Stoppers episode explains the Crusaders cutie marks, in the scene where they're deciding what to do for the talent show but never end up going through with their original talents. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zj7ugD7GS4c.html - <a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="579">9:39</a> Sweetie Belle often sings so she got a star with a musical note inside, Apple Bloom got an apple because of her family skills, Scootaloo got a lightening bolt because of her quick and talented scooter tricks.
off topic, but somethin that is related to scoodaloo, (idk if i spelled that right but wtv) I really like that there is lgbtq characters in mlp. but when I told my Mom abut it, she said "people put characters like that in *kids* tv shows because they lik to think of doing weird things to kids. its sick and gross." also my Mom isn't homophobic (n fact she is bi) but I just don't understand. can someone please try to explain why its sO tErRrIbLe about having lgbt caracters in kids tv shows.
There's nothing wrong with having LGBTQ+ characters in a children's show. In fact, it's benefitial for them to see all kinds and paths of life so they can learn better empathy and that people loving people is okay. Some people just have a problem with us LGBTQ+ people existing and they want to see us gone, though. That's their whole thing, they don't care about the kids, they just don't want LGBTQ+ people to exist
i think its the thing, scoots doesnt have a sibling, sweetie has one and applebloom has 2 still they could've made her like Pinkie's/Flutter's/Rainbow's cousin (i put Pinkie because of the earthpony parent)
I think rainbow is more like a parentrental figure too considering where the heck her parents were throughout the seasons like oh yeah, that’s abandoned our kid for eight seasons
Here’s my story. While they were on the show, the CMC became a singing group which is now an AI cover group. The Cutie Mark Crusaders went to Philadelphia where they came to Sigma Sound Studios to visit MFSB and the Salsoul Orchestra, two of the Philly soul greats put together a series of AI cover albums based on the Three Degrees, the O’Jays, the Stylistics, Blue Magic, and others. And also, three of them had their own solo albums too. They were appeared on “Soul Train” and on one of the talk shows. The CMC were a soulful group outside of MLP FiM.
<a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="433">7:13</a> I wouldt say Rarity is that bad considering that in one of the episodes from season 4,despite Rarity having little time due to needing to make outfits for one of the celebrites ,she still made sure to make beautiful dresses for Sweetie Bell. Tho I agree that sometimes she was treating Sweetie Bell more like a person who works for her (that one episode from season 3)
I read somewhere that Applejack's parents were killed by some Timberwolves idk were but i know ive seen it somewhere also i have a headcanon about sweetie belle's parents were rarity was a planned pregnancy but sweetie bell was not and when she was born they made rarity watch her thats why she doesnt get along with her in the earlier seasons of mlp because she took away her teen years away from her thats why her parents always leave sweetie belle with her so they can have a retirement
I never finished the show so I didn’t know the parents even existed but to me it’s clear that the show just wasn’t interested in showing people’s parents, especially at the start of the show. Which honestly makes sense considering the mane 6 are adults, so they don’t really need their parents around. But then it left their child characters without parents either which they tried to find a way to fix much later while still keeping them out of the story. But hell yeah to Scootaloos lesbian aunts I didn’t know they existed
Close siblings:applejack apple bloom. Far siblings:rarity sweetie bell. Not siblings:rainbow dash skoodaloo also sweetie bells parents still haven’t returned from their newest vacation
It doesn’t fits with the pattern. Then, like, you can't just have two of them having something in common and the third one one not. That doesn't mean she's not a crusader. It just feels weird and I don't really know how to say it.
I think Apple-Jack and Applebloom's Parents were more supportive then Rarity, Sweetie Belle or Scootaloo's Parents, they were more likely neglectful parents They barely even took care of them Scootaloo's had more of a Ego while Sweetie Belle and Rarity's were more absent and abandoned them for Rarity to try and take care of Belle while they were on vacation and were all like "Nope, you are staying here while we have a adventure!" But Apple-Jack and Applebloom's parents had done their job and they weren't absent, they were dead So that meant that their parents were caring and they done their job
Applejack’s parents aren’t in the show for storytelling purposes. The mane 6 were written to have autonomy and responsibilities. It makes the lessons learned more impactful. A lot of the plots and lessons wouldn’t make sense if the mane 6 were kids that had to answer to adults. Lauren Faust wanted them to be old enough to make their own decisions and have responsibilities but still have immature moments that kids could relate to. For that reason, none of the mane 6’s parents appear regularly in the show. Twilight, Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie didn’t grow up in Ponyville so it makes sense their parents don’t show up. Rarity did grow up in Ponyville but we can see that her parents are very different from her so it makes sense she moved out. Applejack has the biggest issue storytelling wise since she lives on a family farm. So the writers just never brought up her parents so that she would have the responsibility in order to give her stories the stakes that they have. Same for whenever Rarity had a story about her sister, the writers focused on what was necessary for story telling, like Sweetie Belle staying at Rarity’s place, without focusing on what their parents are up to. I think Rainbow taking Scootaloo under her wing in Sleepless in Ponyville was done because of the many fan works about Rainbow adopting Scootaloo. It wasn’t like they started with Scootaloo being unrelated then arbitrarily made them related 2 seasons later. Because Scootaloo was unrelated while the other two were, a lot of fans drew/wrote about Scootaloo being an orphan and looking up to Rainbow Dash, and Sleepless in Ponyville was a bit of an acknowledgment of all the fan works.
Bruh noting it's wrong wit in its just people tat ruined them it's absolutely annoying I mean like horror stuff and things tats aren't nice alot more just let it be as it is at my opinion
actually pear butter isn't dead, she just ran away because she couldn't touch her children, because she wished that everything she touched would grow very fast. so when she held big mac for the first time, he grew rapidly. i think that apple jack and big mac were actually around the same age maybe one or two years apart.
