Ravens corners do not have good ball skill. They are good in coverage and bad at the cards point. Too much money is spent in the secondary to have that issue. But there is no shame in Stephens loosing reps to Devante Adams and Tacis Kelce. He shouldn’t have been on an Island with Devante anyway. Bad game planing to let their only proven play maker beat them.

The first play looks like their adjustment to empty that the Chiefs ran on us. I think Simpson is taking away the inside option route for Adams. I believe the lapse was on Jackson not coming down on the TE.

I dont blame orr as much because he is new. I blame Harbaugh. I really do think that the whole team doesn't respect his leadership anymore which means that there is no one holding anyone on the offense and defense accountable. Last yr we had a great Defense coordinator that had the teams respect and now we have no leadership. When you look at the league, besides offensive yards, we are behind the 8 ball on everything. This shows that our team doesnt adjust to anything and our coach has a certain way of teaching things. The problem is we have seen that adjustments dont happen on this team and sometimes we overcome it with Lamars greatness or when the defense was lead great and were multiple and unpredictable. We cant get away with this if we csnt do the easy stuff easy and are predictable. Nfl teams see what we struggle in and what we do. Our defensive coordinator feels like he is still an linebacker coach who wants to be able to stop the run and rush the QB but making the rest of the defense in positions where tbey dont get beat deep and in a wierd way in a position where they dont trust thier own players to succeed. Why would they have DBs looking st the QB if they thought the rush would get home. In his mind, he has those dbs looking at the qb to make sure they dont run out of the pocket and run. Maybe he coached against Lamar to much where he thinks that the priority against all QBs. Our Defensive Coordinator just isnt ready yet so he is trying to be simple. But this will get us killed against good teams. Harbaugh is really the issue here not having a culture and making it all about himself and what he wants to do even when the NFL has grown pas that

we need 2! I kept saying this. He will unlock our defense, and allow 44 and 14 to roam. He was our best cover corner the day he got drafted just young. A real talent! Just need those reps so he can be decisive in what he sees in play fast.

Everyone does realize that when Mike mcdonald was in his first year, the defense struggled the first few weeks.

This breakdown was fantastic! You helped me see so much with our safeties. The 2 deep was taking them completely out of plays underneath. I get it with the speed of their third guy and respecting Davante it caused Roquan and Simpson to catch heck underneath. This problem may not be over this weekend due to CEEDEE and Cooks speed and ability Tolbert is a factor as well. Wiggins will help with abilities in matchups and playing man. However, Simpson has to get comfortable in open space. Orr also needs to get more comfortable disguising coverage as well

I might be wrong but the bears played cover-2 a lot and I wonder if Jackson tendency are all cover-2 and were really missing Geno just from a schematic understanding. Also, I wonder if Zor is afraid to go against game plan during the game when stuff stops working or get a exposed

With Macdonald, the camp stories mentioned the focus on fundamentals, live tackling, and emphasis on communication compared to our previous defensive coaches. Maybe that’s a big part of whats missing for the ravens, even if the play calls are the same.

The play that was the most concerning to me was that 2nd and 20 completion to Adams. Out of all the people how is the best player wide open

I think Stephen’s is amazing but like someone said, he gets beat at the catch point often. As a corner I was the same, faster than everyone so staying with guys was easy but the catch point and lacking ball skills gets you in trouble a lot especially against experienced WRs or TEs. I think Marlon is the same too but not as lock down as Stephens

This might a conspiracy therory. I wonder if they are puting Stephens in positions to Fail or totally succeed. Hear me out. They are puting him in positions where if he is a top tier corner where you can see what he can do and how good he is. And if he is not, he would be exposed. If he does fail, they can come to him in contract talks and tell him well you are not a top corner ans so we wont pay you like that or if he does succeed thry know that he can be a number 1 guy and pay him such and not risking over paying for a corner. If this is true, it is messed up because even the good corners have a flaw and need help at times against ultra high caliber pass catchers. Puting him in situations where at this point where we know he will fail is unacceptable and conniving from the ravens.

This defense is lazy and don’t stay on their assignments along with not having proper communication. Last year they were all on the same page and flying to ball playing selfish football. Like BB said do you job!!

Coach,I agree! It seems to me like the Pass Defense has 2 issues: 1) Ferocity (non-existent), and 2) Space (too much of it). When catches are completed, there is too much YAC because our guys are drifting based on the QB's eyes, and there is no urgency to get involved in the play. We seem to lack that Wild Dawg, feeding frenzy mentality of the past. All those defenders around Buckner, and he just drags them into the end-zone. Is this a Zach Orr issue, or are the guys just not running the defense he designed?

It’s not the same defense being applied they are not relying on stunts and they are playing more man and more blitz. This is a different defense they just have to get adjusted and play better. Cant use Mike McDonald system nomore he is the enemy whether we like it or not.

The defense stop playing in 3-4 quarter

I honestly think the big problem is their on the field so offten that 1. Their being figured out and 2. Fatigue. If the offense could at least stay on the field for 1 or 2 more 1st downs it would give the defense time to recover while also keeping opposing offenses out of rythm. Every year i look forward to our Offense kinda being our defense and not just through TOP but also by scoring TDs!!! Its like Harbaugh has a TD phobia. I know he a big Special Teams guy and he enjoys have them out there as theyre and important group to the game but TDs is whats gonna win games. How many do we need? MORE!

If you look at our defense last year, we were THE best passing defense. Yardage will tell you otherwise, but the only reason that's true is the volume of passes teams thrown at us. If you look at a per play basis, there was no better pass defense in the league, and it confused me as to why teams didn't just run the ball on us because that was our weakness. If teams ran the ball on us, they could usually bully us off the ball, yet nobody wanted to run the ball against us. I still to this day have no idea why the 2023 Ravens Defense wasn't ran on more often than it was.

As a Seahawks fan, seeing how Mike McDonald has completely turned our defense around, I’d say the problem with the ravens is not having Mike.

As simple as this sounds the easy fix is we need Nate Wiggins out there. He's the only one that shows a dawg mentality on every snap. I don't know where that mentality went in our secondary, because it was there last year...but now I just see way too much standing around and leaving big gaping holes of open space. Also I don't like them (deliberately?) making Kyle Hamilton less multiple. It seems they just have him as an ordinary safety instead of using him all over the field as star. That takes away the ability to more easily disguise the defense. Basically the defense is way too vanilla...well the secondary. The guys in the trenches are eating.

It’s was evident during the first two games that something was wrong. Hamilton is one of the best players in the league and has been a non factor. He is either injured or the scheme needs some adjustments maybe both.

So is he not playing hurt?

Get content Coach I feel to effectively run a Tampa 2 or a Cover 3 scheme we must have the players who can play in zone coverages. When running a Tampa 2 you must play with discipline and trust your help on the field your linebackers must know how to cover keeping everything in front of them not letting the QB eyes to live u off your spot stay disciplined and the front four must get pressure!! Why did we play man defense on Adams he killed us ?!? I understand some players are better in zone schemes than other’s Malik harrrsion can’t play in a cover 3 look he has zero instincts and awareness those are the skills needed for a defender to play in a Tampa 2 scheme like Derrick brooks was for Tampa bay

Brandon Stephens is terrible at man coverage! He not a pure CB he’s more like a safety that can cover a lil wish we kept Darby he played well on the outside for us !!!
