is it me or did the thing the peppercorn sauce came in look like an old ashtray ??

Couldn’t give a monkeys about the chip tbh it looked fantastic but I think they could of put some onion rings mushrooms and or veg with it as the plate looked barren

Peppercorn is the best sauce to have with steak no argument I don’t care if it’s 70s or not.

Were is the bloody garnish and veg? a crappy steak and a foiled jacket potato. Jacket potatoes need to be crispy on the outside

Whoa, that steak looked great. 9/10 easy - didn't see the chipped plate ... personally, I like medium rare fillet, green peppercorns pressed into the steak (not a sauce)... flamed with brandy and a clarified butter sauce to finish. Agree with your choice of jacket potato, looked proper. Can't wait for the Paella vid :) Make it an epic Paella Lee!

If I were to deduct a point, it would probably be for the peppercorn sauce being served in (what looks very much like) an ashtray 😂

Fair comment about the plate being chipped. Definitely a mark down for that Lee. I have worked as a kitchen porter and chef would bin a chipped plate straight away.

I'm easy when it comes to steak, so I usually ask what the chef recommends, and if they say the sirloin is really good tonight then that's what I'll have. I was out for lunch in Durban with a Texas businessman once and when they asked him how he wanted his steak he said in his loud Texan drawl "just wipe it's a*se and lead it in" ... That turned a few heads !!

The steak looked a little bit lonely on the plate with just the jacket potatoe. I would have expected some salad or veg for the price. Good choice though ordering a fillet.

Thats one big steak. Unfortunately i couldnt eat it with all that red in it. Mine would need to be very well done and it doesnt be tough like people think. X

Great steak and good choice to have a baked potato rather than fries. Hope the peppercorn sauce was hot (as well as hot!) 32 euros seems a bit pricey and side salad would have been welcome. So a 9 from me.

Your Doctor is spot on I tried both Diet Coke and Pepsi against the regular stuff and the non Sugar one I could taste the Chemicals in both of them, A decent low Alcohol beer is way better, What's tbe problem wtth Peppercorn sauce being from the 70's when the Beer most people wash lt down with dates back 8000 years, You just can't please some people

I liked the BMW at the start with the winking headlights, I thought the steak looked awesome and I did not notice the chip in the plate, but, I did notice the recycled ashtray. Can you get a salad with your steak or is it still not wise to eat uncooked food in Spain.

Presentation was poor. A side salad would have transformed it. As is stands , rather expensive for what you were given.

That steak was definitely medium. Fillet is probably the best cut but sometimes can taste like liver . Sirloin and Ribeye are good and Denver (Chuck under Blade) is becoming increasingly popular. It looked good though and would give it a 8/10 as it could have done with some salad and, I agree, the plate chip is a little bit of an oversight.

Thought quite expensive till I saw the size of the fillet steak 😮.. Looked fantastic,as you said "Cooked to perfection!" Don't know if you know when steak is cooked wait for about 10 minutes as it keeps cooking!! My favourite steak is Ribeye, Slowly grilled with butter salt and black pepper, outer crispy and glazed,inner medium no red but still Juicy. Jacket potato 'GENIUS' Would pay that all day for what you got. Comment about you going tea total for a few months."Suits you sir!" Think it's done you the world of good.

That steak looked spot on, maybe could have done with a couple of mushrooms and tomatoes to it.

Needed a couple of fried eggs, mushrooms, onion rings, buttered green beans, fries and a side salad. Optional, fresh buttered crusty bread.

Hi Lee, Lovely sized tenderloin, but please try with Bernaise (cooked with challots) or Hollandaise, The pepercorn is so 70´s, also it was not served in a ash tray this is the old traditional spice grinder.

The chip is a serious presentation issue, but it is cracks not chips that potentially harbour disease causing ‘bugs’.

My father always said theirs a Pork Chop in every Beer metaphorically referring to it being Liquid Grains & or has High Calorie value being Liquid Food

Please watch your bill in there its all in Spanish so use Google translate because they tried to charge me twice for the most expensive meal. But gave us a free shot before we even asked for the bill and I've never had anything so strong in my life. Think thats why they did that little trick on the bill. We didnt have a nice meal there to be honest.

Favourite steak is probably a Bavette, served Blue and sliced across the grain when served. Add a bordelaise sauce...perfection (though very difficult to find in the UK)

No veg or salad would have thought for €30 they could spring for a bit of something green if just for presentation

Always have Fillet steak medium rare. Also, always have pepper corn sauce, it’s not old fashion and out of date. As for you having a beer i’m sure you can have a couple.

Visual score: 4/10 Steak seemed ok to be fair. Just no thought on the plate. No crispness to the jacket (microwave) too much peppercorn sauce and no veg/side orders - not good. Beer: San Miguel is brewed in the Philippines. The best draught beer in Spain is Mahou or Cruzcampo. Onwards…

The plate looks very bare. What about some salad or vegetables. An expensive meal for what you got.

The BEST English breakfast in Torremolinos by a mile is ‘The Bailey’ - Top of Calle san Miguel (Shopping street) across the road & on the right, forget the beachside restaurants, overpriced tat… Oh and pleeeeease stop calling it Benalmadeeeena - it’s ‘Ben-al-mah-deh-na’ ❤

Steak looked good, very good. It is not a jacket or baked potato when cooked in foil because the foil keeps in the water, effectively boiling the potato. (I was told this by a chef lecturer in one of Europe’s premier culinary schools). It still tastes really good, but it’s a potato boiled in its own liquid. I like them. I also like pepper(corn) sauce. I would like one additional vegetable as it massively increases the taste combinations possible. Nevertheless - great value compared with here in the USA particularly.

Mmmm, as a master butcher for over 30 years, I’d go for the T-bone steak! You get the tenderness of the fillet and the flavour of the sirloin, plus the flavour of it being cooked on the bone! Nom Nom! Great vid as usual Lee! Bet that beer never touched the sides eh?!😂 👍👏👏👏❤️😊

First of all, this restaurant has a 10/10 for the discount for cash payments, remember when this happened in the UK! Fillet steak is my go-to steak, always, as there has to be something seriously wrong with the chef if you get a bad one. The steak looked great albeit my preference would be a little more well done, but we're all different. The presentation though, was awful, apart from the chipped crockery, which is a big no-no, the plate just looked empty and splattered with something randomly? I've never seen a jacket potato served with a steak before and the spud looked yellow ... didn't you have some yellow chips in an earlier video here? Or maybe it's a type of potato they use, I don't know, they just look odd to me. Onion rings, a few chips and a mushroom would have improved the dish no end.

The one thing I noticed that was wrong with that meal, especially at that price.......No vegetables! This is very common with Spanish restaurantes, they only ever serve you meat and potatoes if you want vegetable they usually charge you around 10€ extra and then you get a plate of frozen vegetables! I like my meat but I can't do without the veggies after all you've got to have a balanced meal. For me if I want steak I go to Cosmopolita in Fuengirola, you get a very nice steak with veggies and potatoes pobre, delicious and all for just 17€ or thereabouts!

My favourite cut for steak is ribeye(I think it used to be called : "the butcher's cut" - as it was always the cut that butcher kept for himself). I like it medium rare.

Thick cut sirloin, the fat rendered and crisped up before cooking medium rare for me.

Are You actually going to show the real appeal of brits going to benalmadena and the Costa del sol, like paloma Park,tivola world the views from the cable car or the old town or as a travel vlogger do you only worry about fish n chips and food which cannot be eaten anywhere

Came to ask where the veg was but everyone has got there first. Steak looked good, certainly edible enough even to my rare-preferring eyes. Rather than peppercorn sauce though I like chimichurri to go with mine 👌

Best steak in Benalmadena is the Angus on the front in Torrequebrada. There, if you ask nicely, the chef will do a steak tartare. And all the kitchen staff will come out, to see what kind of a lunatic is eating raw cow and raw eggs.

Glad it was cooked to your preference but agree with comment below that doneness for a fillet steak should be rare/blue ideally and no more than rare to medium to medium rare at most. Such a lean cut dries out too much otherwise. Trying rumpsteak at your preferred doneness was a good suggestion - cheaper and a much “beefier” flavour. And it clearly wasn’t “reverse seared” as another comment suggested - you could see that from the temperature gradient and the cross-hatch surface grill marks. But most importantly, you really liked it - all that matters when all is said and done! 😊

I would give it a 8.5, there should have been a side salad on the plate too. I think if they are going to use plates that size, they may want to put something on them. Haha!😊

Go uphill from the sail roundabout and there is a lovely park to have a walk around (Paloma) it's got a lake, cactus garden, and a few coffee shops as well. And as for the meal, a free chip and you're complaining lol.

I think they need to work a bit on the presentation. What was that stuff that was drizzled around the edge of the plate? It didn't look very appetising.
