There is no racial discrimination in stores. People just tend to live near people of same ethnic group as themselves and shop locally.

No such thing as separate supermarket for whites and blacks. Maybe 75 years ago. Not now

When I visited Japan, the breaking of the sakura branches annoyed me too. Seems I looked angry enough too that those people that did it look ashamed. Seriously, who breaks off tree branches? And I understand that one woman took a photo of a toilet. I almost did take one myself. I have never in my life seen so well maintained, clean and free toilets at public places. I am talking about train stations ...

In the Philippines most of our celebrities and beauty queens are mixed race. And I can confirm stray dogs is a thing in the countryside that we have a breed name for them Askals which is a combination of Aso = Dog and Kalye= Streets.

I think the Universal Studio rain experience was probably a once-in-a-thousand years flood. They weren't prepared because it had never happened. Of course, with global warming severe weather events are happening with greater frequency.

There are many ethnic neighborhoods in the US and Canada, so it's not that there's racial discrimination or banned people from entering the stores. However, there are stories of some small towns in the US that have a vibe where only white people seem welcomed, unfortunately. There are some ethnic stores around in Japan too that cater to Chinese, Filipinos, Indians, and so on. Anyone is allowed to shop there, but maybe many of the people of that particular ethnicity tend to shop there more.

12:04 It's not that we think we are the best for looking our best in flashy clothes, but we try dressing to the best of our own standards and identity / creative expression. Many of us are trying to look at our best for !ourselves! and not anyone else. Fashion is a way to keep one's cultural identity in conservative yet somewhat open, fashion-driven Japan. At least we don't have to dress too strictly in Japan.

There's no segration in the supermarkets. But some supermarkets tend to be less safe to shop at than others, due to the surroundings.

When I went to Japan, I quickly realized that everyone is dressed very nice and proper, but I still went outside all bummy with a white t-shirt and shorts. I knew I'd probably stand out, but I really don't have the time or energy to dress nicely everytime I set foot outside. Lol As long as you're not bothering, hurting, or inconveniencing anyone, you shouldn't care what anyone thinks. Do whatever you want, act however you want, dress however you want.

as a french canadian I can assure that the supermarket thing is not real , no shop are close to different race. But in japan that thing is real , some shop wont allow you if you are not japanese , even if you can speak it...

I live in a suburban city in California - Middle Class - My neighbors latino, black, asian, and white like me. All work or retired like me. Everyone shops in the stores and eats in the restaurants. While discrimination is still a problem in America, most of America is tolerant!!

Dressing in differently weird fashion with confidence is a stereotypical impression of what most foreigners think of Japanese people, and Japanese tourist traveling abroad are always associated with taking pictures of everything.

The stores may not be segregated, but we who live in America could point out a ghetto store or have at least herd of one. Being a subject of urban redevelopment I am a white minority placed in these situations and it is unwelcoming in these convenient stores and supper markets. The majority will flex there pride especially if there's a difference in intellectual property, or idol level.

The US and Canada are not the same, they are two completely different countries. I highly doubt there are stores where black or white people cannot go to, even in areas like Alabama. Most likely there was a store that more people of a certain ethnicity perferred to go to because they felt more comfortable. Not that they were actually prevented from entering.

There's no racially segregated stores here in Canada. Someone please find those 3 girls and let them know. I think what the cousin probably experienced was that many stores will cater to the people of the area around them and in a city like Toronto there's tons of racial and ethnic groups, and they tend to cluster together (for obvious reasons). For example, in an area with a high population of Jamaican immigrants you're going to see a lot of specialized goods that you aren't going to see a few blocks away in the Polish neighborhood. I'm wondering that sort of "Chinatown" or "Little Italy" type of ethnic neighborhood is something that most Japanese would have any experience with?

I'm Italian and I've been living in Japan for more than 20 years now and I still take pictures of toilets. There are some amazing beautiful toilets (restrooms) at the highway service areas 👍

Its interesting to hear the broken telephone about countries. I live in Canada, and I've lived in Japan before, I've never heard of or experienced segregated grocery stores BUT we do have specialized grocery stores (Jamaican food in a Jamaican area, etc.) which makes sense because people from different ethnic backgrounds have different food "staples" they cook with everyday.

It would be hard to dress up all nice to go to Disney Land... It's hot, and you walk all day, and your hair gets messed up on the rides. Plus, at least at USA Disney, adults aren't allowed to wear Disney costumes anyway. So jeans and a tshirt are the most appropriate outfit, at least in my opinion.

De facto segregation in America? Yes, somewhat still. De Jure? Of course not. I haven't seen a "We Reserve the Right to Refuse Service to Anyone" sign in years. They used to be all over the place.

I was actually surprised that people at the Disney in Japan were allowed to dress-up. Big kids and adults are not allowed to wear costumes at the US Disney parks. Only at certain Halloween events are costumes allowed.

America and canada doesnt segregate. Her sister must of told her some history from the united states. There was segregation in (mostly in the southern states) until 1964 but yeah thats no longer true and they would quickly go out of business too if they did.

LOL I have taken pictures of the toilet and at the train station! The sign in the toilet where it says to not stand on the seat is funny, but I know some people have done it--when I lived in China I'd sometimes see people's footprints on the toilet seat. I can't sit where someone put their dirty shoes! (Is it tourists that stand on the seat? Maybe.)

Not a lot shocks me these days but breaking off Sakura tree branches? Dude. Even having lived in California most of my life, that isn't just shocking but really unacceptable. My understanding is that it's unlawful to even pick up fallen petals or flowers off the ground in public areas. Best way to tell off foreigners who do that would be to say "The gods will punish you for that!" I think that would get the message across best.

-Japanese tried to dress appropriate clothes/fashion catering to the time/theme/objective/places they faced -western foreigners dresses how they feel right at the moment regardless whenever/whatever places or situations they faced or heading to😅

I love your videos, and I'm studying Japanese on my own. However, I'm a little concerned about the reception I'd get if I came to visit. I'm 5'11" and double the weight of the average Japanese male (according to one of your videos). I'm pretty sure I'd look like a big, scary gorilla to the general public.

People tend to mingle with other people with same/kind of similar culture background, that's human nature. That's how the society is set up.

It is illegal to discriminate in Canada, and it would be considered a hate crime. Now, it used to be that way in the US, especially in the Southern States, but segregation is only self implemented here.

The Japanese girls sound like Goddesses. The one that felt sorry for the Filipino kids is a good girl. I like the one with the sharp face with sleeveless black shirt, the one with brown hair, and the one mixed with Filipino that's dressed in black. I like how the guys admired people for their good qualities. They seemed to think that combining Western and or American ways with Japanese ways is a very good idea which I agree with. Yes, we should be individualistic and work as a team as they both seem to think. I have noticed that Japanese people are very subtle people which implies they are extremely intelligent. I feel that their culture breeds extreme intelligence since it often strives for perfection and discipline, but that puts a lot of pressure on them. It's so much pressure that many can't handle it. I noticed they tend to admire people who are striving for improvement; It's often about balance, harmony, and peace with them when it comes to improving themselves. They are very good at recognizing things that are very high quality in anything. Japanese culture is a military hierarchy where you must earn everything. The Samurai/Warrior/Martial Arts Mindset is always happening among them. Martial Arts is The Art of War and Peace and many are Masters of War over there. The Samurai Way is the way they live. If you are not good enough, they will often reject you. They strive for Godhood whether they know it or not. They are trying to reach Heaven whether they know it or not. They strive for Immorality whether they know or not. What is Perfection??? I have much more to say, but I can probably go on forever. Reading the air... Most Non-Japanese don't really know what that really means... They can feel it... They can think it... : )

7:32 I think it's really sad some Japanese are blind to how terrible Disney has become in recent years. Boring CGI films and ugly live action woke remake movies no one cares about. Destroyed the Star Wars and Marvel film franchises. Lectures it's customers and fans. Doesn't bother improving or fixing thier U.S. theme parks. And everything in their merchandise and services are far too overpriced beyond their poor quality and value. If Disney is fun and still a special place in Japan it's because it hasn't been ruined by politics and greed yet. Give it time, but I can't wait to see Japanese parents expressions when they seen their kids take pictures with a man in dress pretending to be a women.
