There is a link in the video description from the brand. When I filmed, I didn't know that Robert Welsh had reached out and gotten a statement. It was created to "Selena's preferences" but not tested for people with difficulties opening packaging. My thought was that if it was created for that purpose, that would have been advertised on their socials and/or their website.

Have you seen Jamie Paige's mom's review? She showed the way she holds it and it does look like it makes sense, and she has arthritis. The thought was you have more surface area to grip with your whole hand - fingers can go around more length of it, and there's less pincer grasp motion needed because arthritis apparently is common in the area between your thumb and index finger?

Normally im not someone to leave a comment. But want to talk about the packaging. Im an occupational therapy student and work with people with artritis and other disabilaties. So about the packaging the ball can help to open it. Its all about using your bigger joint than the smaller ones. For example your wrist and shoulder instead of the fingers. Also the eye liner is bigger more like a pen. And the bigger it is, the easier it can be to use. And pls don't confuse the joint with a muscle. The joint Hurt with artritis and are inflamed and stuff. But that doesn't mean the muscle doesn't work. The muscle give the strenght while the joints add the motion. If that makes sense. And what works for some people still might not work for An other. Cause each person is different and their body react differently. And if someone really wants to add more grip there are special gloves invented for people with artritis and many other things to make a day to day life easier.

As a person with Rheumatoid and Psoriatic arthritis I would not use the ball to open these products. I find it more difficult and painful to grasp smaller objects with my fingers or knuckles and tend to use the palm of my hand or ball of my hand for grip and then twist with my entire arms rather than my wrists. Not sure that makes sense. Just sharing my thoughts and what works best for me.

I understand what your saying but it was touted not just to help arthritis but any hand disabilities. I had my car ploughed into by a transport truck 20 going 65 mph 20 years ago. I had many great occupational and physiotherapists. I have nerve damage in my neck and my right brachial plexus. Pain, weakness, shakiness. I worried about people like me trying to use the ball when it was only meant to be decorative. One thing that I can’t explain to anyone and in particular my therapists couldn’t measure/feel was my pain. So wouldn’t it be easier to just say, skip the ball, use your tools? I’ve seen ppl think they’re doing it wrong. They’re not. Let’s not push that narrative eh? Best of luck in your studies 💜

@@phoenixgirl70 im sorry to hear about your accident. Nerve damage as i can inmage can be quit painfull. Also if you feel like a professional doesn't match with you and doesn't otherstand your pain. The thing i would reccomend is to look for a different person. Maybe someone who you feel like matches more with you.

I purchased a lot of this brand, and as someone who has arthritis, the packaging IS helpful. If it weren't for those balls in top of the bottles, I would have had to break out my "rubber husband" (the rubber square that helps open jars and such). I'm not sure I like the primer. I'll have to wear the foundation with a different primer to see how it works, and if I like it better that way. The blush I picked out was great! Easy to work with, but I had already seen that the blushes were super pigmented, and I do prefer cream blush.

Do you like the actual products too along with the packaging? Do you see yourself repurchasing? Is there any other brand and their components that come to mind when it comes to easier to open products? (For example Patrick Starrr on his eyeshadow palette has that weird angle to easy open. He did it for people like him with nails but I imagine its easy for anyone to open ☺) (not saying that means it's worth buying 😂 cus tbh none of his stuff is that intriguing to me, just an example I thought of)

Just as an aside, the rumor did make me try it out as someone with arthritis (AS) and a daughter with JRA. We both found it to be easier to use with the extra space to hold on that isn’t as “slippy” while the extra tightening click was also easier to do with the little ball. I also have used Guide Beauty products which have a similar “ball”’to help hold. While it turns out it was a rumor, I still think people sharing their personal experiences with the products who actually have arthritis is helpful either way. It is something that isn’t focused on and I need personal testimonials usually to find products I otherwise wouldn’t know about.

I also have Lupus and arthritis. An easy open package would be so great. The struggle, especially in the early morning when I’m super stiff is real. Opening compacts and tight lids is such a literal pain!

I have fibromyalgia and I have trouble too and one of my Charlotte tilbury palettes I can’t open every time I try to use it. It drives me in sane the amount of times I’ve nearly thrown a tantrum like a two-year-old is crazy 😂

As a fellow arthritis lady, I do have to say the packaging is actually easier for me and my daughter (who has JRA). I know it wasn’t purposeful but I have found several products that are “easier” to use thru personal recommendations so I’m glad that this random rumor at least got me there! Another great brand is Guided Beauty for eyeliner!

Se A completely agree. For me, as someone with arthritis (AS) and my daughter (JRA) we both found the extra space made it easier to hold. It also isn’t as slippery as other products. It also helps me to get that “click” closed easier on really stiff days. Intentional or not, it is so helpful with I find recommendations from other with dexterity issues! Guided Beauty eyeliner is awesome too!

I bought the highlighter and it is beautiful in a very subtle way. I returned the two medium-toned blushes because they were so dark and unsuitable for my fair skin. I purchased the Bliss blush instead and it’s perfect but still VERY pigmented so a little goes a long way.

@@kathleenem9207 I'm a pretty fair person and i absolutely adored the blushes Joy, Grateful and Faith. a little does go a long way for sure! I can get them to blend out really nicely so it doesn't look clown like. All makeup is a personal preference though, so just because i like it doesn't mean everyone else will and that's okay. I'm glad you liked the highlighters!

@@xcarriecatx I’m pretty fair skinned with neutral undertones as well and I usually wear grateful ( which is the bright red one). I think most of them will work you just have to be careful about how much product you apply!

I got the foundation, 2 blushes, and a highlight and i LOVE THEM. They are SO long lasting especially under a mask! I'm planning on picking up the concealer as well... I think if u like natural/ soft matte finish and high medium coverage with a weightless feel, you'd love this

I actually love the blush, but have the lighter/matte shade and find that it is gorgeous and lasts the entire day. It’s super pigmented, but because it id soft it looks beautiful.

For me it is so overhype right now and so many false rumors start by her stans. I like the highlighter and the blushes but there are so many angelic highlighter and korean brands have liquid blush.

I am not a stan by any means, but i bought the foundation and blush. I love them both. I didnt have the pore issue that Jen did with the foundation and it had a bit more coverage for me. The blush is gorgeous as well and was easy to use.

it just left an icky feeling that the brand never publicly addressed the packaging (from what I saw) and influencers were full on attacked for not doing their due diligence when they were SENT PR with a whole pamphlet from the brand??? Smokey Glow had even said her fiance has a disability that affects his hands and the packaging didn't help. Influencers, you, Jen, Skelotim, and Robert Welsh had to EMAIL the brand Besides that I'm still curious to try the foundation because I do hear nothing but good things!

Exactly, a smooth round ball is so hard for me. I researched and found out it wasn’t designed for people with dexterity issues at all. Let me tell you, the hate I got trying to set the record straight. Even giving pppl the RB phone number to call and ask themselves. The fans were ruthless. It turned me off the brand to tell you the truth. It’s not Elena’s fault but every review comment section was like 80% of ppl saying it was designed for ppl with arthritis/disabilities. The brand had to know what was happening, but you know, there’s product to sell.

oh man. I just looked this up. in the fall, I get really bad migraines and joint pain all over my body. sometimes I can't bend over. I also get bad migraines in the spring, but the joint stiffness is in the fall. sometimes I get so cold I shiver associated with the migraines. Have you found things which help? my doctor had me go for and I was told I don't have arthritis....

Cassandra M interesting...I’ve found the ball not slippery which helps me a lot. Things like Shape Tape are so slippery that I can never get it closed or it falls out of my hand. Just like any makeup product, we are all different and it can’t be assumed that one person’s experience will be everyone’s experience.

THANK YOU FOR THE CLARIFICATION on the Arthritis packaging. I reviewed the brand, and didn't mention that because I didn't find enough evidence too say it came from Selena herself so I left that out. But, in my video comments I had a few people say they were disappointed i didn't mention it like other creators have ❤ I'm happy too know my instincts were right, You ARE THE BEST JEN. You are the girl that DOES THE HOMEWORK (which is SO MUCH WORK🙌) Thanks hun. ❤❤❤

Aaand here comes Jen with her deep dive that only a teacher could serve. I mean choosing a job in which grading book reports and other amateur analysis then providing the bullet proof best version of all analysis, is.... oh shi*! I agree. My review seemed really negative too. But Rare has a lot of oils in their complexion products and unfortunately oils just don't sit well on my skin and just looked so horrible on my skin. At least your experience was okay, my experience was terrible. Do not recommend for Oily Combo skin. (Im oily on my T-zone and dry on my cheeks and around my mouth). 😕 I really wanted to love the collection. But it just didn't work for me and I didn't like it enough to work with it, if their was anything I kinda liked about i would have been willing to work with it. Hated all of it since it just looked so oily and textured on my skin and the concealer creased on me too, just so much, even after I set it. But I'm glad so many other people love it. It just didn't work for me. 🤷🏻‍♀️

@@muhammadzikri8492 yeah. But sometimes foundations geared for dry skin still work for other skin types. I have seen other people with combo skin like mine and it still works for them. I'm thinking its just my oil chemistry that doesn't mix well oils. Some oily people can still use facial oils and oily formulas. I didn't know this had oils in it until after I tried it. And saw how it sat on my skin. And it made sense. No oils sit well on my skin, not just Rare's.

I was so excited for this launch! But it took me a long time to get my fungal acne under control that I really do not want any oils in my products/: I so like the concept of them though, everything seems luminous so I hope it works well for other people!

Thank you so much for your thorough review Jen! I can always count on you! I’m really glad I didn’t buy into the hype the 1st few weeks after this came out. It seemed like everyone was giving glowing reviews to the foundation and concealer. I’ve been looking for a new light-med coverage base and these were definitely intriguing! But after seeing close-ups and wear tests from you and RawBeautyKristi, I think I’ll hold off. Maybe if I get to Sephora at some point I’ll ask for a sample.

Purchased at launch. I’m honestly loving JUST putting on the concealer for my day. It matches my skin tone and texture enough that it isn’t obvious even close up. I like that the texture is very skin like. I’ve forgotten I was wearing my concealer one day when I looked in the mirror, and I just got happy at how my skin looked.

I don’t have full on arthritis, but I don have fairly painful joints in my hands. The packaging is easier than others for opening, in my experience. It just be a happy accident. My suggestion is, when you get the chance, see if you see a difference in person. It may just be it fits my hand a better say than others I’ve used. I tend to use the palm of my hand to open it, and that is something I haven’t been able to do with other brands. It is something you have to do on purpose, but it really helps. I agree with Jen that it’s a lot more common sense on the concealer. I believe the occupational therapist may have been referring to a similar method.

Jen, the brush method with that blush looks stunning on you!!! When you first did it I was stunned at how it just looked so healthy and flawless on you. I also loved that Courage lip color on you, it's like the perfect "your lips but better" shade. Like when you removed it I swear it looked like you were still wearing it because it's so much looked your natural lip color. Now with the concealer creasing, I feel like every concealer and even foundation does that once you are passed the age of 32 so I don't hold that against the concealer, for me it's about whether it's dry/cakey or hydrating and brightening.

Thank you for the most honest review of this brand I’ve seen so far. And I watched about six reviews on it. I purchased the same liquid lip, the foundation, concealer and the luminizer in the pale pink. So far my favorite is the liquid lip. The concealer did the same thing to me...creased. And the foundation and luminizer are just ok. I also bought the concealer brush and like that as my second favorite.

The blush is absolutely fabulous on my skin! It definitely is a formula that needs to be blended out immediately, but it lasts all day (even when wearing a mask for 8 hours).

Love this review. Thank you for being the only influencer thus far who has addressed the need for packaging for people with arthritis (& any motor disability). I want to address this, as the mother to a daughter with a physical disability - there are many many physical disabilities out there that affect motor function. So even though the ball might not work for one person, the ball would work for someone else. For my own daughter, it would be the thicker design of the product, allowing her to better grip the package and then turn the ball with her dominant hand. If able bodied folks have more questions regarding this, Google is your friend. Instead of doubting the people who come onto these posts & take the time to explain their disabilities & why things do or do not work for them. Personally, I was excited when I heard the rumor it was designed for a purpose. & then incredibly let down by the fun that seemed to be had debunking it (not referencing Jen). One RU-vidr even put circus music behind her portion about debunking the rumor & shared plenty of eye rolls. The main point is people with disabilities are COMPLETELT ignored within the fashion & makeup worlds. From modeling, to packaging, to influencers, to just having a following. It would LOVE it if more influencers would, after debunking this, give shout outs to people with disabilities doing makeup & also make a call to action to brands to be more inclusive. But that never happens. Maybe one day.

Also recognize that Selena creating a product to her "preferences" would be to her preferences as a woman with a disability. That is her everyday life & reality. I don't agree with spreading a false rumor on a brand, but I also don't agree with the fun some influencers have had gatekeeping the disability community on this one (again not Jen).

I've witnessed so many influencers outside of the cruelty-free community offhandedly mention the cruelty-free status of a product without knowledge of what that actually means and entails. This often leads to the spread of misinformation through their ignorance :(

Thank you for the review! I got the blush and highlighter and I love them. I put both on my Thrive CC cream and used the Milani Setting spray and it lasts for me. I should note that I have very dry skin though.

I got 210n in the foundation and 130n in the concealer and when I first opened it the foundation in the bottle looked really dark but when I put on my face it was a perfect match. I think you made it work but I do think you need a different shade. I enjoyed my purchases from rare beauty and first impressions I really enjoyed the foundation and blush!

Now I want that Sigma liner!!! It was extremely black and looked like it flowed beautifully!! And the Em Cosmetics liquid blush!! It blended out so lovely 😊 !!!
