I have just arrived Toronto for few mos. It’s going to be my first winter here in Canada. I like your style, simple and comfortable. Now I am a bit regret for what I have brought here from my own country . What a waste of rooms😅

It would be really helpful if you make a video on part-time jobs for international students in winters. BTW, I really admire your work. Keep it up one day you will get great results...

Thank you making this video from my request! Great work as usual. A bit of a note that if you add the video chapter (timestamp that skip to a certain part of video), it will be a lot easier if we circle back and want to watch a certain part of the video.

The funny part is most downtown students walk in winter with running shoes. Lower cost outdoor equipment stores (such as MEC) have good clearances starting from January or so

Idk if you can see every individual who watches your videos like on TikTok, but if you could, you’d see that I just binged like 5 of your videos lol I am STRESSING. I’ve never been to Canada, especially in the winter. I’m from south Texas and we are definitely not used to the kind of winter you’re probably used to. I just don’t want to overspend on buying a bunch of expensive things like winter boots for the beginning of December, which is when I’m going. I would really like someone to tell me how cold/what’s the weather like in early December so I’m that I’m sufficiently prepared.
@LivinginCanada
@LivinginCanada 11 месяцев назад
It will probably be around -5ºC or so , earlier December, could be colder. Boots are definitely a must, especially once it starts snowing. I would wait until you're here and buy your stuff here so you can adapt to whatever you need.

Good tips except for considering Winners as a first option for winter boots! Winners is a liquidation/clearance store and if you are super lucky you’ll find something great but don’t go there unless you already know what you are looking for and just want to check if they have something similar.
@LivinginCanada
@LivinginCanada Год назад
Thank you! You're right, you can't always find good stuff there. It usually takes a few visits and some luck to find a really good deal. I guess I was lucky so far! Besides winners, shopping online is great because it's easy to compare products and prices.

Hi lovely, we are landing in peak winters in Jan 2023 (3rd week) in Toronto Downtown. We would really appreciate if you can suggest the deals available in Jan after Christmas. Would you recommend Toronto Premium outlets or winners/ Marshall’s/ Hudson day deals? It’s very difficult to know any insight on this… would really appreciate your help.

So, do all the condo lobbies and businesses have tons of slush or debris being tracked into the condos/businesses? What is the etiquette for bringing snowy, shlushed shoes into a place?
@LivinginCanada
@LivinginCanada Год назад
Usually in the winter they will have heavy duty mats laid out, so part of the slush/water will remain there. Of course there's always a residual. I always to my best to shake of any liquid on the mats so people won't slip. I guess that's what the etiquette should be. Not everyone adheres to it though so always be careful when walking.

@LivinginCanada

Mine are very good, they're from Rockport (the ones in the thumbnail). For light snow they work well, especially because of the heel. For heavier snow and ice I recommend using winterboots (the columbia ones in the video)

Do we need parka's that cover us till mid-thighs? Its my 1st winter here
@LivinginCanada
@LivinginCanada 2 года назад
It really depends on whether you get cold around the legs easily. I can easily do with a hip-length jacket, as I freeze most on top. But a jacket that covers mid-thighs, or even to the knees really adds a layer of warmth.

This is my first winter, how many pairs of boots would I need as a student? I would probably be walking a lot.
@LivinginCanada
@LivinginCanada 2 года назад
I would start by getting one pair, and then based on that see what you need. After you've tried walking in them, you'll get a better idea what else you need. Personally, I like to have 2 pairs (in case one gets wet from rain/snow), I have a higher winter boot, and a more 'fancy' one like you see in the thumbnail.

Sorry, I'm not too familiar with US visas. But from what I heard it's taking an awful long time to just get an appointment right now, because of the backlog from the pandemic. That's what seems to be the case.

oh boy, terrible suggestions here (sorry), touching a sole does not indicate how good the boot/shoe is, suggest people Google actual reviews which measures waterproofing, types of rubber the boots are made of to prevent slipping and actual insulation for warmth.
@LivinginCanada
@LivinginCanada Год назад
That's just a first indication, the first thing one can do while in the store faced with a shoe. It's certainly not conclusive. To know for sure how well it will do under harsh weather conditions I second your advice to research further on google.
