I just think its another one of the thousand things that we hurt ourselves with. We need to be close to reality not virtual reality. God wants the family to be close and ever since phones my grandparents told me families are a lot less closer
I find it hard to believe that we would be settling for a make believe world when we have the real thing. Why are we doing this?? I'm all for new ways to impact others in a real tangible way but this is more of the new same. The internet got many out here disconnected and we still looking for ways to feel connected.

Hot take: It would be irresponsible for us as bearers of the Gospel to not have a foothold in the Metaverse IF it becomes as widely used as social media.
I appreciate the comment, I think your heart's in the right place, but I'd like to add a few things: (1) I largely agree. That said, we don't have to jump feet first into something because it's new, because we can reach people, and therefore we should be using this new platform to reach people. That line of thinking is fallacy. Personally, I hate social media. It drains me. Mind you, I'm not talking about the wholistic view of social media; i mean the basic sense of posting pictures, videos, and the sort regarding my life. I don't want to stop experiencing real life so that I can record a short video to post to my personal highlight reel. That just feels fake. To clarify: *I* feel fake. It feels inauthentic. What's worse is the side effects of social media: the petty flame wars, needless comparison, and endless scrolling (I have ADHD, so its very difficult to stop scrolling). I hate those too, and those drain me even more. (2) That said, I think the Christians that are afraid of anything remotely new, rubber stamp it as "tHe MaRk oF ThE bEaSt", and then deliberately turn their nose up at it *because* it's so new is also fallacy.
No Christian have no need to do this crap. It will be used more than social. Sooo we want to keep people to still stay in a fake world. And still won't be able to deal with own life and fall in sin so much faster. Including lacrea as kinda odd. After back pedaling on everything he used to sing about and quit. He can say he has reson. I’ve got mixed feelings about this. Not being hypocritical; I’ve been very much into video games before and spent a lot do time energy and money on them. From THAT, I would say that I have learned, we need to stop investing so much of ourselves into something completely fake and virtual. So many of us can become so disconnected from the real world and real priorities that it’s scary. I’m not saying it’s all bad. Not saying you’re a bad person for wanting to use it. BUT it feels like we’re building towards this matrix-like world to me lol we better stay focused on real people and our real environment because if we don’t take care of those things, we are plowing straight ahead to into serious trouble. Get your head out the meta verse and oculus and NFTs and get out there and make REAL money, REAL relationships, take care of your actual home.

Even as Christians, we can use the metaverse to honor God and be a lighthouse to others. It is important for us to learn of how we can use this new layer of the internet.
Whoa, this issue is a double-edged sword for sure. It's a bad idea for youth to be "living" in a false reality and probably the same for some adults. But it's where the world is heading so, imo, for Christians you gotta be really discerning on the future the world is throwing in our faces. Be prayed up, stay REALLY close to the Word of God and don't be stupid or compromising. Parents know what your minor kids are into at all times. This is not your great grandma's world anymore. Oh and of course, put on the whole armor of God.

Software/apps should be there aid you or help you get smarter. And there are plenty of apps that do just that. Social media is not one of them. Steve Jobs and Mark Zuckerberg forbid their kids to use it. They had a good reason for it.

Think about this. Instead of watching a video of a live Lecrae performance, you get to be inside the “virtual” concert. Or attending a conference, or a church meeting.
